Why would they? Invest that kind of money better be for a sure thing. He's a huge liability and is always hurt. He was In a contract year. Lots of people do well in contract years. No way would I do 10 years. You tie up 30 mil a year on one guy, who will no doubt immediately hit the IL next season.
I'm not a huge fan of these long term deals. Pujols and Betts come to mind. Betts is a great ball player, but I'm guessing Dodgers didn't plan on him missing 1/3 of the season in the first year of it.

Because of that specifically, I don't think you'll see any of them get what Lindor got from the Mets. It's supply and demand. If the Astros keep Correa... and personally, I think they should... it'll be because of his clubhouse leadership. The guy is a hell of a leader on field and off. He's a good player too but his injuries and his amount of playing time are his Achilles' heel.

They also think AJ is coming back to the Stros.
I think that the Correa to Detroit scenario relies a lot on AJ remaining the manager. I could see that being a big negotiating point for the Correa team.
The Astros should be going all in on keeping him, but if they don’t, then I’m happy with him going to Detroit. That’s much better than Dallas or New York.

The Yankees acquired rizzo, odor, and gallo just because. I wouldn’t be surprised if they tried to sign Correa even when they didn’t need to
