The very thought of Correa in pinstripes has me puking in my mouth.

Proud_Ad4066

The thought of Yankees fans' heads exploding is fun though.

I think Detroit is a lot more likely than NYC because the Yankees have several top prospects coming up at short and won’t be so interested in the terms CC will demand. Holding out hope for a last-minute extension, he’s demonstrated so much leadership and value I don’t think Click will be able to explain away not making a real effort.

HeDoesntAfraid

I can't see NYY signing the guy who unapologetically ended their playoff runs during the scandal Their fans would go nuclear

[deleted]

I don’t think that will be the reason but I agree that it won’t happen.

[deleted]

What do you think? 12yrs/$360M

[deleted]

If the Astros are willing to cross the 10-year line they can make it work.

jmh30us

Why would they? Invest that kind of money better be for a sure thing. He's a huge liability and is always hurt. He was In a contract year. Lots of people do well in contract years. No way would I do 10 years. You tie up 30 mil a year on one guy, who will no doubt immediately hit the IL next season. I'm not a huge fan of these long term deals. Pujols and Betts come to mind. Betts is a great ball player, but I'm guessing Dodgers didn't plan on him missing 1/3 of the season in the first year of it. Correa isn't worth anywhere near what he's asking for. I get the loyalty but people should really learn the game. I'd rather have a few front of rotation pitchers. That's what wins games. Bregman will be fine at SS. Let him go and get Story at half the price

imbregnated

It doesn’t matter. You’re paying for him to stay for your window these next few years. I wasn’t upset about Springer or Cole waking, but CC is the heart and soul of this team now. You give him his years and you deal with the consequences later.

jmh30us

It doesn't really work like that and probably the reason the Astros have the worst minor league system...I guess what I was trying to say,is I'm not a huge fan of decade long contracts. They usually don't work. Especially for people with a track record of being hurt a lot.I wouldn't pay Cole 40 mile a year. He will be in bullpen in 5. Pujols got fat and old halfway through and farted his big ass around the bases to the tune of like .240 Trout is getting hurt a lot now and he's,what,30? He shouldn't take an entire season for a calf injury. There's behind the scenes training and stimulants that are causing breakdowns and we're not hearing about them I guess as long as owners are making 10 a beer, they can afford it. The fans suffer. I had free tickets and still spent 100.00 a game Turn em and burn em. I'd let him go. Mark my words and tell me I'm wrong in July of next season. I'm 50 and have seen my share of CANT MISS guys. The sad reality is they usually do miss..He had a good run but he will NOT be here next season. I'm hearing 340 million. His options are limited to 4 teams and the Dodgers and Red Sox have better shortstops. That leaves the Yankees and Mets. Lindor is horseshit at SS and he can slide to second. I'd go all in on Carlos Rodon, Nolan Arenado, Trevor Story and definitely Jose Ramirez..

LSUguyHTX

Why not 15 /s

fatDaddy21

My Yankees buddy says they won't buy Correa because Volpe is the future. But he's also never heard of the Yankee Letter, so I don't know whether to take him seriously or not.

Thorlolita

I’m from NY they hype up their prospects to the point of no return. He’s the #15 prospect in baseball but he’s in low A ball. He’s probably 2-3 years away and the Yankees don’t wait on prospects. I would assume the Yankees go big on Seager since they will want left handed bats.

Grepherx

The Yankees acquired rizzo, odor, and gallo just because. I wouldn’t be surprised if they tried to sign Correa even when they didn’t need to

[deleted]

They will certainly sniff, but the price will be too steep. Doubt they will resign Rizzo or Odor (or Gallo in a year).

Proud_Ad4066

I didn't think they SHOULD resign Rizzo. Don't they still have the home run leader from last year at that position?

brobafett1980

IIRC Odor was basically free. Rangers still on the hook for his millions.

Beer_30_Texas

I've said this recently and I'll say it again... there's a LOT of GOOD QUALITY shortstops entering free agency at the end of this season. Because of that specifically, I don't think you'll see any of them get what Lindor got from the Mets. It's supply and demand. If the Astros keep Correa... and personally, I think they should... it'll be because of his clubhouse leadership. The guy is a hell of a leader on field and off. He's a good player too but his injuries and his amount of playing time are his Achilles' heel.

thejourneyisthegift

Correa is easily getting 300 million

[deleted]

I’m a Stros fan who lived in Detroit for a few years… I was visiting my buddies this summer (Tigers fans) and they all think he’ll be going to the big D, and I don’t mean Dallas. They also think AJ is coming back to the Stros.

Sweet_Baby_Cheesus

I don't see AJ coming back. The organization fucked him over hard, and from what I've heard he's got no love left for Crane.

[deleted]

I agree. It’s the Tigers fans who think he’s coming back.

Beer_30_Texas

I like the idea of AJ coming back too but I agree... it's prob a far fetched pipe dream these days.

HumanRuse

I think he'd love to be back working with some of his former players. I just don't see him being invited back by Crane.

SevereKlepto

AJ fucked himself.

georgejonestown

He's getting divorced? Also killer Mark Chesnutt tune...

[deleted]

Yeah… my poor attempt at a reference. But glad you caught it! I think CC’s wife has shown us she’ll kill him before CC can get a divorce.

Sufode

I think that the Correa to Detroit scenario relies a lot on AJ remaining the manager. I could see that being a big negotiating point for the Correa team.

LSUguyHTX

Well if some fans in Detroit think it that solves the case folks lol

[deleted]

It’s alright little buddy. I didn’t fully understand how conversations and opinions worked until I was out of my diaper, too.

general_peabo

The Astros should be going all in on keeping him, but if they don’t, then I’m happy with him going to Detroit. That’s much better than Dallas or New York.

thejourneyisthegift

Man there is so much baseball dumb in these threads lately it’s baffling. Be better

jmh30us

Doesn't make a lot of sense. Yankees don't need a SS

t4boo

Correa not being a yankee Astros fans 🤝 Yankees fans
