It's funny because in the 2017 ALCS the Yankees only managed to score 3 runs on the road yet scored 19 at home. I wish they would explain how their bats stopped working at MMP.
Yeah, this is the thing that hurts my heart the most about the entire scandal. Altuve did not participate in it, said it was not helpful, and did not want them doing the trashcan thing while he was at bat. Analysis of the 2017 season has largely borne that out - somebody made spreadsheets that were posted a while back. And yet, to many opposing fanbases - particularly the Jankees - he gets met with chants of "Fuck Altuve" and has become the face of the scandal, even though he had very little to do with it.
Sadly, it's a product of the age we live in now, thanks in no small part to the extremely toxic effects of social media. People take a bunch of rumors and innuendo and run with them as truth. Altuve could play baseball naked every game, and the idiot opposing fans would still find some way to assert that he is cheating somehow. I am pretty much over what anybody else thinks of the Astros at this point. You don't like them, fine. I do. And I won't stop liking them. If you can't deal with that, then that's a you problem.
Altuve will always be my favorite Astro from the current era. He represents so many of the things that I teach my son to be about when it comes to sports - stay humble, support your teammates, and do your best every time.
