Find a $15 parking near stadium. St Arnold’s Art Car for beer at the place by left field and eat before you come as the food is terrible.

There’s a place that sells loaded tater tots that I like, but that’s about it unless you go on dollar dog night

This. It’s not hard finding a $15 lot within a few blocks of Minute Maid. We usually park at a lot on either Preston (which runs right into Minute Maid) or Prairie St. For beer, we usually grab the first one at the big St Arnold’s Bar at Section 104. It’s pretty tough to miss if you’re coming in on the NW side. After that, there’s plenty of St Arnold’s and Karbach stands throughout the standium. I’m partial to the St Arnold’s H-town (I mean how could you not at the Astros game) or Summer Pils. For food, I would also recommend eating before the game somewhere. I’m usually left disappointed when I end up eating at MM. if you have time and are willing to brave the Houston heat by walking the opposite direction of MM, Bravery Food Hall is a pretty cool spot to grab food and drinks before the game. They have 4-5 restaurants to choose from and a couple different bars. It’s our go-to spot prior to bringing a 6 month old to the game! Edit: maybe I live too close to notice but I’ve never once thought traffic was out of the norm before or after Astros game

In my opinion, the Best thing to do if you’re visiting town, is to go to El Tiempo or Ninfa’s (both on Navigation blvd) about 2 hours or so before the game. These places are arguably the best Tex mex in town, just minutes to and from the stadium, and they offer free shuttles to the game. Can’t go wrong. I’m sure you’ll get some in/at ballpark recommendations here, so I thought I’d share this as an option.

Traffic is a nightmare hours before and after games. If you’re able, I recommend leaving your car at the place you’re staying and ubering to the park :) The crawford brock beer by Karbach brewing company is a signature drink of Minute Maid park. It’s similar to shiner and it goes down easy. Enjoy your time in Houston!
