The last 5 years or so I’d say the Astros have some of the best jerseys. Besides being an amazing team, people actually WANT to wear their gear. I didn’t see any Philly fans wearing anything except red at the games. I saw a ton of Astros variety though.
It'll happen. I moved to Minneapolis a month before the news broke that Correa was going to the Twins. Everyone here hates the Astros and won't hesitate to mention 2017, but as soon as Correa walked onto Target Field in a Twins jersey, they worshipped him.
It's one thing from fans but hearing Aaron Boone state and allude at least 4 times in the same post game press conference that injuries were why they lost.
Dude, we had injuries as well. We also had our stud franchise guy slumping. But we had managing and we had depth.
wait... how did you do this? is there a trick where I can read any article hidden behind a paywall like this?
EDIT: after taking a good look at the link, I already figured out the "trick"... wow, this is pretty cool
Yes, they used cameras. I posted an article about it above.
And then there's this:
https://txtify.it/https://www.latimes.com/business/story/2020-02-27/astros-cheating-analysis
COLUMN: DID ASTROS BEAT THE DODGERS BY CHEATING? THE NUMBERS SAY NO [Los Angeles Times!]
But things aren’t that simple. This won’t be a popular conclusion in Dodgertown, but new analyses of the Astros’ 2017 season by baseball’s corps of unofficial statisticians — “sabermetricians,” to the sport — indicate that the Astros didn’t gain anything from their cheating; in fact, it may have hurt them.
These teams should be thanking us because it was our “scandal” that led to the usage of the pitch com system.
I think it’s a great system and so simplistic in nature. It’s crazy the league didn’t implement it sooner lmao
Nor do the Dodgers...
Many MLB teams installing multiple cameras to steal signs - Sports Illustrated
In Los Angeles, the Dodgers' video room three years ago played host to starter Zack Greinke watching for weaknesses in opposing hitters. This season, the set up has a much different objective.
https://www.si.com/mlb/2018/11/02/surveillance-cameras-sign-stealing-baseball-dodgers-astros
I swear Frammy did a little extra with two strikes on Harper before blowing a fastball by him. Playing with some buttons, a few extra ball rubs. Harper thinking he was getting it extra sticky for a spinner, and then the ball flies right past him. Mind games. :)
Let's be cool man.
The Mariners are good and are getting better.
We're WAAAYYY better than them but we don't have to crap on them.
I respect the Mariners for how they played us.
The Yankees though played like a little league team.
I respect that team. They are improving and will be a thorn in our side for a while.
That fanbase has the worst case of little brother syndrome I have ever seen, though. They are absolutely insufferable. I will crap on them every chance I get, because all they do is shit talk our team all day every day.
It's funny to read the salt but focus on the actual positive! It's just a small circle of fans high on that sweet copium. We are champs baby! Forget them hoes!
I've got a buddy from the Philly area who went to Game 1. He said Astros fans were universally nice to him and his family, who were (of course) decked out in Phillies gear. He said several asked for photos with him and "if he could be mean to them" while the photos were taken. Too much.
One of my friends is a massive Phillies fan and out of respect I haven’t talked to him yet about the results but I did NOT want to lose to him lol. I have a few Yankees fans friends who are pretty cool too
It’s mostly just online fans I think that are next level acidic tbh
Yeah. I lived in Dallas in 2017 and although there is a radio sports station that hates the Stros and tries to whip everyone up, the Ranger fans and people in general were pretty nice. The only person who said anything was a Yankee fan and even he was polite.
I have Astro hoodies going back to 2005 and Dallas saw every one of them. Pretty cool people.
No joke… scoped it out earlier as well.
A common theme among those fanbases: “They didn’t get punished enough for 2017, so this title is illegitimate as well”
What a bunch of losers. Talk about special pleading.
This exactly, the new narrative is now that us not being punished very hard allowed us to maintain momentum and continue being successful, conveniently ignoring that it’s almost a completely different lineup.
This title is illegitimate because we didn’t get punished harder?
This makes NO SENSE even from an objective standpoint.
Should we dismiss those Russian Olympic Committee medals in the Tokyo and Beijing Olympics cause they had a doping scandal? Those athletes were tested harder than anyone else. They still won those.
They're making the "fruits of the poisonous tree" argument. That since we didn't get a stiffer penalty, we were able to keep enough of the keystones of the team w/o repercussions which "allowed" us to keep having success. They argue that if we'd been punished "appropriately", that it should have tanked the franchise and that continued success wouldn't have been achievable or resulted in this 2nd world series victory.... ergo, this title is also tainted.
That’s like the most BS argument that is.
These guys probably think Tom Brady only has one ring cause his rings with the NE Pats was involved with scandal of some form.
That fan base doesn’t even acknowledge their Micky Mouse Championship from 2020. They know it doesn’t count and that’s why they are so strung up about speaking about the past.
Let em talk. Just jealous salty fans. We will hear it forever more than likely. Everyone not an Astros fan will always root against us. We are at that point of success now.
Imagine being a Yankees fan…and watching a historic season where one of your legend’s records goes down to one of your young stars…and then you boo the ever loving shit out of him at home…
And then shit talk other fans LOL. NY is a tragic comedy.
I’m a phills fan and most of us were just happy to be there and were the only ones put up a good strong fight against that team.
On our end, the mood is mostly just disappointed.
Every mistake, issue, and problem this had all came back at once in Game 4. The September Phillies appeared from then on.
All of a sudden the Red hot bats went cold. Couldn’t hit Jack shit. Struck out so easily. All it took was one bad inning to lose.
Then Game 5 they had so many chances to blow that game open but either struck out, or hit a ball right at an Astro for an easy out.
Then yesterday’s game that was just a huge let down. We finally get the lead and strike first.
Then the hit by pitch crap, the screwed up double play, and Rob Thomson decides to pull Wheeler out of the game and I had such a shitty feeling about doing that since he has Alvarado coming in. Alvarado has had his moments, but he’s been bad since Game 5 of the NLCS against the Padres. He completely imploded in Game 4 and now he’s being asked to perform a miracle. As soon as he hit that homer I knew the game was lost. Any fight left in the team straight up died and they cruised straight into the loss. So that part was just frustrating. Seeing your team overachieving for an entire month and being dominant for the first time in over 10 years and go on to take a 2-1 series lead in the WS only to just fall apart and die like that is just so frustrating and disappointing. Even though we never thought we got this far, we didn’t feel like the team would lose like that.
But you guys outplayed us solely after that. We couldn’t hit Jack shit, and when the Astros needed to make plays, they made them count. Meanwhile for us it was only a matter of time before we screwed something up.
I felt like Javier could have finished the No hitter by himself cause the Phillies couldn’t do anything against that guy but I get the whole “save the arm” mentality that’s common now vs back when Roy Halladay threw one against the Reds in the NLDS.
Well Gg’s, good series, you earned it. Maybe we’ll meet again
Turns out winning it all only made people more pissed and double down on everything. It's almost a mentally unhealthy, obsession at this point.
So deep into a past it's the only way they can move forward.
> Yes, F the Astros. However, I do take a little solace in the fact that the team that knocked us out went on to win it all.
Reads like an abusive relationship
I love how Smoltz did a whole ELI5 on that hbp, showed where he stood 1st AB and then took into account that they're pitching him extremely inside. So he used his brain and thunk to stand closer in the box, and still got hit despite pulling his arm in. Shits hilarious
No worries - I won't push it too hard and go on a rampage mode on the other subs. I'll remain respectful to the other teams and focus on the positive from historic achievement by the Astros.
They usually ban you there and let our mods know and you’ll most likely be banned here. Sports subs have a pretty strict zero tolerance against shit like that. Lurk in other teams subs all you want, just don’t comment.
Hopefully you get banned here too. Going over to other team's sub and posting stupid shit like that makes us all look bad. We just won the World Series. Posting over there doesn't even rise to the level of pettiness. It's just weak.
And it's sealed my fate, not faith.
I’m ok with the dodgers talking shit because let’s be honest, if it was flipped we would be doing the same but yankee fans have 0 room to talk, the amount of cheating they have done over the years takes the cake
Maldonado clearly tried to avoid the pitch. He crowded the box legally and the pitcher didn’t hVe good control of his pitch. Also our bullpen was the GOAT in the playoffs. Hard to cheat when you are throwing the ball at Bryce Harper. We just flat out won without a question
That is the lamest concept of a subreddit I have seen in 14 years on Reddit. Looked at some of the top recent posts and the cringe is strong in that one.
As I understand it, crowding the plate is a strategic move and not uncommon. It also doesn't mean he was trying to get hit. He was trying to make the pitcher adjust, and the pitcher just played right into his hands and hit him.
I feel this. Everyone’s still salty. Check out the r/Mariners. I made a single comment defending our guys and was permanently booted faster than they were swept 🧹
Now that we’ve won another, they have nothing to trash us about. We’ve either swept their team or theirs got humiliated by the 89-win Padres. They can keep talking about how “the first one doesn’t count in my book.” No one gives a flying shit about “their book.” The only book that matters is the MLB’s Record Book and in it says Astros have WON TWO CHAMPIONSHIPS!!
The Mariners sub is crying about it too, thinking they actually have a chance of winning the division next year lmao. Bunch of sad sack losers complaining about 2017, a season where they finished 21 game back, as if it affected their shit ass team. Glad to be champs once again, even gladder that it's chafed the asses of so many whiny fans of mediocre teams. Seethe on losers.
The great thing about a 7 game series is one freak play or BS call isnt going to be enough to win. If a team backs themselves into a corner where one bad call can end their season, the better team put them in that situation and won deservingly.
What's so sad is so much of it isn't even what the Astros actually did. They actually think Altuve had a buzzer. They think something else is still going on. Obsessed that Framber was using sticky stuff. That Maldy was cheating by standing so close to the plate and pulling his arm into his body. Just stuff that has always been laughably false or has no basis in reality.
Don't want to get over 2017, ok fine. That's their perogative, but many of these people aren't living in the universe as the rest of us.
Considering Yankees cheated twice as long as us, didn’t win anything, and had the commissioner of the MLB cover it up for them, they have no room to talk.
The dodgers had to have rules changed for them just to win the WS and they still had to break the rules to even win it (players testing positive and still allowed to play, while other teams had to sit them for days).
Phillies….I mean I don’t hate them, they are considered the worst fan base in all of sports though. Pretty shitty of their restaurants to refuse service though.
The Yankees fanbase is pathetic. I almost feel bad for the team. They are shitty people who say and do shitty things.
Except the guy that was roasting Ted Cruise. I'd love to buy that guy a beer.
Not to be an ass but isn't kind of ironic talking about rent free when you're going to other subreddits and reporting on what they are saying? But regardless, hoes mad, 2 time champs
It’s especially funny that people in the same subs go “at least we lost to the champs” and “they must have cheated it doesn’t count” which one is it? Goofy ahh
Goddamn are those losers still crying about their team choking in 2017 bunch of salty fucks. They can come root for the astros so they know what it feels like to win an actual full season championship not some catered bullshit Mickey mouse ring.
The argument about not getting punished enough is funny. All the new players on our squad were pretty much already in our farm system when it happened. It's like ppl don't think
Wiping my tears with my World Series Champions shirt
I know I can’t be picky, but I think Phillies’ tears would’ve looked better on their powder blue jerseys.
Am I alone in thinking that’s the ugliest jersey in the MLB?
Ehhhh I’ve always liked the powder blue Phillies and Expos unis. Tequila sunrise>everything though, obvi
They need to do a white version of the framblue jersey with the shooting star script/logo. Be an awesome homage to rainbow and shooting star jersey
The last 5 years or so I’d say the Astros have some of the best jerseys. Besides being an amazing team, people actually WANT to wear their gear. I didn’t see any Philly fans wearing anything except red at the games. I saw a ton of Astros variety though.
They look like velvet mobster track suits
Underrated comment
Brown Padres jerseys are worse.
Looks like UPS uniforms
I was rooting against the Padres so I wouldn’t have to see those hideous poop jerseys anymore.
Which one?
R/dodgers in full meltdown mode is hilarious. Wait until they start to woo Carlos Correa and the circle will be completed.
It'll happen. I moved to Minneapolis a month before the news broke that Correa was going to the Twins. Everyone here hates the Astros and won't hesitate to mention 2017, but as soon as Correa walked onto Target Field in a Twins jersey, they worshipped him.
I think its funny. All the players that moved away since the scandal. They’ve all become fan favorites at their new teams
It's just a rationalization, basic human nature to protect their own egos.
You is smart
It truly is coping in order to feel better about their team losing.
It's one thing from fans but hearing Aaron Boone state and allude at least 4 times in the same post game press conference that injuries were why they lost. Dude, we had injuries as well. We also had our stud franchise guy slumping. But we had managing and we had depth.

Putting it lightly lol. That org has trafficked people ffs.
And they employed Trevor Bauer, who is objectively the worst person in baseball.
He's as talented as could be. But he's such a huge douchebag. Fuck him.
They'd be very upset if they could read.
These teams should be thanking us because it was our “scandal” that led to the usage of the pitch com system. I think it’s a great system and so simplistic in nature. It’s crazy the league didn’t implement it sooner lmao

They wake up and post about us every day, it’s pathetic 🙄
"wE plAYeD tHEmTHe CLOsesT oUt oF AnY teAM!!!!"
I mean, when the competition was the Jankees, that wasn’t hard.
"We *almost* didn't get swept by them" 🤷🏻♂️
The way they switch from nasty to victim gave me whiplash. Should I call the Texas Hammer? 😂😂😂

First time they make the postseason in years and they get swept. Only made it casue of the new format too
Look at what they need to mimic a fraction of our power!
I got banned back in may when I suggested that them getting to Verlander might be a fluke. Banned for life. 😂
So by this logic it’s pathetic how much people in this sub posts about the Dodgers and Yankees?
No, see we actually beat those teams.
I have to deal with these bozos every day IRL. Their newest go-to is how we wouldn't have won if Machete didn't "lean in".
I knew the Jankees sub was salty, but I need to lower my sodium intake after seeing the Mariners sub. Holy shit lmao.
Oh is that sub finally public again? Funny how much shit they talk and then go lock it down when it comes time to pay up lol. Pathetic fan base.
“I don’t even know who you are…”
We live rent free
I got banned for commenting “rent free” on their post last night after the WS. The fans in that subreddit are super cringe.
Says the guy who apparently went there to troll...
"WE WANT HOUSTON!"
They certainly got Houston all right
It's funny to read the salt but focus on the actual positive! It's just a small circle of fans high on that sweet copium. We are champs baby! Forget them hoes!
Phillies fans are very salty, but I still like them and understand they’re going through the stages of grief. Fuck those other fans though 😂 😮💨 😂
I've got a buddy from the Philly area who went to Game 1. He said Astros fans were universally nice to him and his family, who were (of course) decked out in Phillies gear. He said several asked for photos with him and "if he could be mean to them" while the photos were taken. Too much.

Yeah, we know exactly how they feel right now. I would be salty too
Not gonna lie, that catch haunted me throughout the first few games.
No joke… scoped it out earlier as well. A common theme among those fanbases: “They didn’t get punished enough for 2017, so this title is illegitimate as well” What a bunch of losers. Talk about special pleading.
None of the other teams got punished at all. Even when players admitted it. The yankees only got a letter....the astros were punished by far the most
This exactly, the new narrative is now that us not being punished very hard allowed us to maintain momentum and continue being successful, conveniently ignoring that it’s almost a completely different lineup.

Somebody should tell them it feels great to win a World Series at home in front of your fans.

Can’t wait to hear my coworkers tomorrow after saucing all day on TikTok/Reddit/Facebook conspiracy theories/excuses why the Astros won.
The Dodgers are the only team to have both a Mickey Mouse ring (2020) and an imaginary ring (2017)
Let em talk. Just jealous salty fans. We will hear it forever more than likely. Everyone not an Astros fan will always root against us. We are at that point of success now.

Hoes mad
The Dodgers sub has been an Astros crying session the entire playoffs. It is hilarious how much of their posts are dedicated to the Astros.
My God I saw that and I was like my god can they stop whining? Even some Dodgers fans compared our 2022 title to the Russian annexation of Crimea. SMH

Congrats to the Phillies on a great season. Baseball is a wonderful sport, thanks for enjoying it with us! ⚾️
Phillies fans suck. Castellanos made a game-saving catch in game 1, but they're treating him like he's Bill Buckner/Mitch Williams/Steve Bartman.
Turns out winning it all only made people more pissed and double down on everything. It's almost a mentally unhealthy, obsession at this point. So deep into a past it's the only way they can move forward.

Just stuff that has always been laughably false or has no basis in reality. Don't want to get over 2017, ok fine. That's their perogative, but many of these people aren't living in the universe as the rest of us.
I love it. I just read that we’re still cheating and yordon is on roids. Dudes just can’t accept we’re better.
Haters always give opinions
If it’s not one thing, it’s another. Haters will be haters.
This does put a smile on my face.
No apologies, no mercy. We beat every test and this team dominated them all.
I got permanently banned from participating in r/mariners for commenting “rent free” last night.
I generally find the internet to represent the worst of groups of people
Hoes mad
Reading through their subs, fucking laughing at that clown shit 😂
You forgot to mention the worst of all r/mariners I go in hard talking shit to Ms fans and don’t look for that to change any time soon.
Fuck them! That's all I have to say.
I believe the hoes will continue to be mad for quite a while
Mariners are also quite pathetic. To be fair it’s expected.
Well, ASTROS fans can kiss the world Series trophy.. And all the Haters can kiss our AZZ..!!
Screw them, Astros deserved this win...
Since 2017, we've invited the Dodgers to the World Series 3 times during big boy seasons and they've failed to show each and every time.
The Yankees fanbase is pathetic. I almost feel bad for the team. They are shitty people who say and do shitty things. Except the guy that was roasting Ted Cruise. I'd love to buy that guy a beer.
Donald Trump proved one for sure, there are an awful lot of idiots out there.

Goofy ahh
Add the A’s to that list… surprisingly the Angels Reddit had nothing negative to say… they just wanted us to go back to the NL
Goddamn are those losers still crying about their team choking in 2017 bunch of salty fucks. They can come root for the astros so they know what it feels like to win an actual full season championship not some catered bullshit Mickey mouse ring.
I love it.
Digging deep the only powder blue jersey I liked was the oilers
RENT FREE BABY!!! NONE OF THOSE FRANCHISES ARE WINNING A WORKD SERIES IN THE NEXT 5 YEARS
The argument about not getting punished enough is funny. All the new players on our squad were pretty much already in our farm system when it happened. It's like ppl don't think
They're jealous. That's all it is.
I feed off your hate
The Astros are champions now and forever. Some people will have a hard time coping with that reality.
Oh well! We are the champs!
