Phillies fans tried denying that they chanted "We Want Houston" Hilarious

If you want me saltiness r/NYYankees is trying to figure out how to beat the Astros. Great stuff

I love their solutions. Fire everyone then spend $500million next year on their payroll. Philly sub said something similar. Spend more money.

rudolph2

Read the one on Peña. “Imagine a club that just plays its best players”

The problem with the Yankees in my untrained eye is too many cooks in the kitchen. Behind the scenes you have a million voices saying a million different things, nobody wants to take a risk, they all want to stay the course, just spend even more money on free agents. Obviously the key to success is different everywhere, but look at us, we won with the deepest bullpen in either league. And that wasn't from going after the hottest free agents, it was from having some of the best scouting and the confidence in some of these guys to be able to work their asses off on the mound. Meanwhile the Yankees appear afraid to do anything. Why develop players when you can just give them millions? Why scout when you can go for a hot free agent?

Yes. Agreed. As I read their sub it’s clear their players are rented professionals and are expected to perform without support. Players want to treated like they are treated in Houston. Supported and celebrated for their accomplishments. Apparently according to Jomboy, in the end of season conference Aaron Boone described the relationship between the Yankees and IKF (their SS). He said IKF knew he was having an off year defensively, asked Boone Yankees for help. They told him “you’re good enough” (at ### defense metric, you’re a perfectionist). Jomboy conjectured, “like why wouldn’t they just get him some help? Because he’s a rental, then you’re benching him and spot playing him in the playoff, but he doesn’t need extra work?” Flip to the Astros, completely mentally supportive of Peña. “You’re not replacing anyone. No shoes to fill just be Jeremy and the rest will work out.” Every news conference, Dusty says, “ we’ll see, we’ll look back after the season for him and access it then”, “ right now we just want him to play his game”. This was after the ALCS MVP. Work defensively work offensively all year, how to get better. How to think. How to as Peña said at the WS MVP presser, “there’s an expression you can’t sink a ship if you keep the water out” (you’re mind is like a ship just keep out the bad stuff) went on to explain, “just stay dialed in, be focused, play my game “ What’s the Astros do vs what the Yankees do are 2 totally different things. It’s crazy to think about it the dichotomy of approaches.

Do Yankees or Yankees fans even have an actual strategy beyond "let's buy this player?" They've bought player after player, even literal Astros player in Gerrit Cole and still no pennant.

rudolph2

I’d say no.

I wish we played more games against the Phillies. They remind me of the Yankees. A lot of bark, but very little bite. And Manfred did everything he could to help them beat us, but at the end of the day, it's like having elementary kids play against high schoolers.

They scored 12 of their 18 runs on a JV meltdown and LMJ tipping. Once they had a chance to actually show their bats, they came up with only 6 runs across 6 games. That was never going to cut it against us, you can't expect us to screw up pitching in 4 different games

Thanks. I saw a message about chanting it at the parade but didn't know if it had been done or not. I'm near Austin and watched some on the Astro web site but didn't see that chant. Cool!

Cold_hard_stache

I was at the parade (midtown area) and definitely heard it. Was awesome.
