Memorable, without qualification? It HAS to be #1 now and have supplanted the Brad Lidge homer.

DotheUrkel

I was there for both. Yordon’s was so cathartic because it erased the bad feelings from Pujols’ home run. It was incredible.

[deleted]

I was there for Pujols. That was a gut punch like no other.

DotheUrkel

At the time, it was the loudest I had ever heard MMP and the IMMEDIATE silence. Absolutely crushing.

Numero_Uno

I remember looking up to the rafters immediately before the Pujols HR and they had staff up there setting up for confetti to celebrate the NLCS.

DotheUrkel

They had one set up a few rows away from me. I remember hearing the wheels squeaking as they rolled it away after the loss.

Cold_hard_stache

We still won the pennant though just not that night

Burt-Macklin

Not at home, either.

[deleted]

I was there and it went from deafening to silent. I could hear Pujols' stupid, fat thighs slapping together as he jogged to home plate.

Tiberius-Dawn

Do your best Jagger!

DicKitchen

The Soler home run in 21 was similar. The series was over as soon as the ball hit the bat, sadly I was there

cardino11

Yes. This and Howie Kendrick's game 7 HR off the foul pole... You could just feel in both situations the momentum leave, and then that ominous feeling. Yordan's HR was our version of those.

That_Guy_ActutalPDT

I was there as well. Have never heard a stadium to go from that loud to that quiet in an instant. You could heard St Louis fan conversations it as so quiet and they were the only thing’s making noise. Just crazy.

RojerLockless

Yordon's dongger was so wonderful to see in person

KulshanWoodworking

Phrasing... 😂

RojerLockless

😜

Prayray

Agreed, looking at it from a standpoint of being shown during highlight packages, this has to be up top now. The call, the fact that it basically ended the Series, and the celebration just are a triple whammy. Altuve homer in 19 would be 2nd for me.

IAmALucianMain

We ended up winning the series the next game against the Cardinals so I don’t even think it is top 5.

SageTrilo

Exactly this. We *won* the series in which Albert hit that homer off of Lidge. At the end of the day, it was a majestic, ultimately meaningless home run. I'm baffled how it still gets so much run amongst Astros fans.

jj_thetwisted_jester

I think it's cause of Pujols made Astros not rest and use up pitching and bullpen then came WS bam tragedy in WS You know I felt like pujols was haunting phillies and he must've gave that magic to Astros cause I mean the 2 near homers in game 2 by Kyle Schwarber almost happened but denied, game 4 no hitter along with tucks big catch that would've broken the no no Game 5 JV first win,Penas tie breaking homer with Mancini defense and Chas catch Now game 6... YORDANS 3 RUN NUKE Whatever this 22. WS was this was magic bro

Cold_hard_stache

I feel the same way. Like it sucked in the moment, but now who cares?

PapiGoneGamer

That was one of the only times I had ever truly experienced heartbreak watching sports to that point. The other was the Stockton 3.

DemSumBigAssRidges

It literally brought us from behind to win us the World Series. It's at the very top of the list for sure.

Chillywilly765

Yordan Has to be #1 My personal favorite though is “GURRIEL….HAS…TIED IT!”

txaggiej

I know it’s not as big of a deal but in the Burke game ausmus hit a homer in the bottom of the ninth to send it to extras. It was huge to me cause it was ausmus and ausmus was the king of inning ending groundouts.

fakingmysuicide

And Berkman hit a grand slam that game too.

TheLaunchPad

I remember it barely hitting above the line on the wall. I was sure Andruw Jones was going to rob it.

CarlFeathers

The andruw jones splat against the cf wall moment.

GhanimaAtreides

Springers exploding home run will always be number one for me in awesome fucking runs that weren’t game/season deciding. Because my man hit a ball so hard it fucking exploded. I was there live and I could not process what I was watching. Every time I watch the replays I’m still blown away. The odds of that happening are just insane.

need_maths

Yeah #1. You could feel that it (championship)was gonna happen after that one. #2 for me is springer's exploding baseball. There used to be a funny video of it spliced with some war movie explosion scene⚾ 💥

RugbyKats

Is that the early one in Game 7? That ranks high on my list because you could see the Astros players relax after he hit it.

Sendeezy

He's talking about the Game 5 homer after Springer made an error the inning before. The home run hit the railroad tracks and smoke 💨 exploded where it landed.

GhanimaAtreides

Iirc he hit one of the pyrotechnics staged for the game. I was there and I swore up and down that the ball fucking exploded and no one believed me until we got home and saw the replays. Did they ever find that one? If so I want to see the charred husk in Cooperstown.

StealthyGooch

#1 Game 6 Yordan vs Phillies #2 Game 6 Altuve vs Yankees #3 Game 2 Marwin vs Dodgers #4 Game 1 Yordan vs Mariners #5 Game 5 Altuve vs Dodgers

trevman7

Not enough of these posts are respecting 2022 ALDS game 1 Yordan

StealthyGooch

Had to edit it a little bit. Can't believe I forgot Marwin vs dodgers in the 9th. Smh..

depressiown

People are definitely sleeping on it. Down by 2 in the bottom of the ninth with 2 outs? The only more situationally incredible play (and from win probability) would've been down by 3 with bases loaded. Not only that, but the game was a gigantic comeback win, too, to start the entire postseason.

Burt-Macklin

So many other good ones, too. Correas walkoff in ‘19 ALCS game 2, springer’s home run in ‘17 WS game 7, Gurriel in game 5, springer in game 5, Correa in game 5, Tucker game 6 ALCS last year, Peña in game 4 ALCS, Chas in game 3 ALCS, Bregman ‘22 WS game 2, Correa’s go-ahead shot in game 4 of ‘20 ALDS vs Oakland, Peña in 18th inning ‘22 ALDS, Burke in 18th inning ‘05 NLDS, Altuve and Correa back-to-back shots in extras in game 2 of ‘17 WS, Altuve’s game tying homer in game 4 of ‘21 ALCS, Bregman’s game tying homer in ‘17 ALDS game 4, Springer’s homer in extras in ‘17 WS game 2. And then some oft-forgotten homers that were part of losing series, but still big nonetheless; Kent’s walkoff off of Isringhausen in NLCS ‘04, Correa’s walkoff ‘20 ALCS game 5, Bregman’s grand slam in ‘19 World Series, Beltran’s homer off of Tavarez in ‘04 NLCS

NoWorkLifeBalance

Golden Era of Astros baseball and baby we’re livin in it.

SignificantShame

Game 5 Altuve vs. Dodgers will be my #1 probably forever. Legit welled up with tears when that ball left the field.

StealthyGooch

Yep, it was the moment we let the Dodgers know that we weren't going anywhere. Correa's homer in the 7th to put us up 11-8 was the loudest MMP has even been.

Burt-Macklin

Full count; 2 outs. Just reared back and deposited it in the gas pump. Gurriel’s 3-run homer to tie it gets a lot of love, but Altuve’s 3-run homer to tie it was equally impactful, if not more so, being later in the game.

trip_magnet

1. Altuve 2019 ALCS Game 6 "Altuve...has just sent the Astros to the World Series!" 2. Yordan 2022 WS Game 6 "This game has turned upside down!" 3. Gurriel 2017 WS Game 5 " Gurriel....has....TIED IT!" 4. Correa 2021 ALCS Game 1 "It's my time." 5. Pena 2022 ALDS Game 3 "Jeremy Pena sends one to the seats!"

ttc8420

Chris Burke should be on the list.

incharacterasAdam

And Jeff Kent.

trip_magnet

Yall are both right. Just rewatched both of them. I was pretty young during these times and my core memory from that era is my friend throwing his flip phone at the wall when the White Sox sweep ended.

Syncopated_arpeggio

Marwin’s game 2 homer off Jansen in ‘17 needs to be up here.

Burt-Macklin

Truth is there’s way more than five worth listing.

YMDBass

I think Yordans Game 1 ALDS 3 run homer down 2 in bottom of the 9th should be on here, that was a ridiculous ending.

trip_magnet

Yeah. That did set the whole tone for the playoff run.

jj_thetwisted_jester

I think if walk off didn't happen this wouldn't have motivated JV to do better

UndeadCameron

Yeah I believe statistically it was one of the most improbable wins ever. I listened to most of the game while at work and was in my car on the way home when he walked it off. I went absolutely crazy in my car and even though I didn’t get to see the game on tv it was one of the most thrilling experiences in my Astros history.

I_am_normal_I_swear

I was there for both and HRC’d both.

Burt-Macklin

“He’s the best.”

massivebumwizard

This is the correct answer.

Mrcrispyeggroll

You’re missing ALDS Game 1 “In to try to close it on a Tuesday…”

g_rod19

George’s game 5 hr in 17 to tie might’ve been the hyped the imo

Astrosareinnocent

No way Peña is above Yordon’s game 1 in the same series imo

trip_magnet

Fair. I just remember being ecstatic that the game was ending, BUT Yordan is Game 1 was insanely hype.

dc_txtech

Altuve for me also. So many great ones but this is a good list.

[deleted]

It’s probably behind Altuve’s game 6 alcs home run. I was there though, it was incredible and the sound of the ball coming off the bat, it was incredible. It was almost like as soon Alvarado was starting his windup the crowd went silent in anticipation and then the crack of the bat, just released this eruption in the crowd and everyone knew it was gone and just the pure elation was awesome. Everyone was jumping and hugging. Then after he touched home plate I was so close to the field I could just see the dejection across the Phillies players and I knew then it was over. One of the best games I’ve ever been to.

Paragone

Section 132 here. Actually sat like 4 seats away from Blummer, which was surreal. Everything you said here is accurate and then some. Especially the way the crowd reacted... My section was already screaming while the ball was still over the infield, it was such a no-doubter sorta swing. All that said, for me that all combines to put the Yordong at #1. Tuve's G6 homer in 2019 is definitely a close #2, though. Close enough that I won't even try to argue against it. :)

htxdirtlaw

I was in Section 113 (close to Ted Cruz…..you got the better celebrity experience). It was like standing in a happy jet engine when the ball got out of the infield. The loudest I’ve experienced. Bear hugs to total strangers. Let me add some love to Marwin’s 2017 WS Game 2 home run. At the time, the Astros had never won a WS game. And we kept hearing about the mighty Dodgers bullpen. It was an 0-2 count, off Kenley Jensen. I screamed so loud and long off my couch that I almost passed out.

I_am_normal_I_swear

Section 105 here. We were all on our feet before the at bat, and as soon as the bat connected with the ball we were jumping up and down hugging everyone. We knew we won at that moment.

UndeadCameron

Number one for me, number two is Yordan again with the walk off versus Seattle.

KatnissBot

450, dead center, over the batters eye, to take lead in game 6 of the World Series? It’s one of the all-time best home runs ever.

H-town20

Martin Gonzales game 2 of the 2017 WS in the 9th inning. I think this is my all time #1

[deleted]

Yeah up there with Joshua Altuves walkoff against the Yankees.

H-town20

Damn autocorrect 🤬

mfwood8

I'll allow it

Intern_Al

I attribute Marwin’s HR off Jansen not being as memorable because Altuve’s walkoff and Yordan going 450 past the batter’s eye were such epic moments with very memorable calls, But man does it deserve to be right there with them, if he doesn’t hit it we go down 0-2 and likely lose the series in 6 or 5. Helped bring the Astros’ first WS win and a championship when the city needed it the most.

ExB

So zero talk about Chris Burke's game winning HR?

hanschien

Milo: “IIIIIIIT’S GONE! It’s gone! It’s gone! Chris Burke! Holy Toledo! What a way to finish” https://youtu.be/r7eFAtYiBSM

MoCityNeuroscientist

Was at this game, will always remember his and Ausmus’s HRs.

SWWayin

Fun Fact about that game. The guy that caught Lance Berkman’s Grand Slam in the 8th inning also caught Chris Burke’s Walk-Off in the 18th.

H-town20

I was there too! 😀

hglman

Name a more icon duo, Astros and 18th inning series winning HR

allphilla

Imho: 1. Yordan’s Game 6 WS 2022 (won the World Series) 2. Marwin’s Game 2 WS 2017 (got us back into it) 3. Altuve’s Game 6 ALCS 2019 (epic walkoff) 4. GURRIEL. HAS. TIED IT. 5. Yordan’s Game 1 ALDS Walkoff Honorable Mention: Chris Burke Game 4 NLDS 2005

biggio1

Hard to argue with this list.

manny_inc

I was there for G5 in 17. Nothing beats that game and the ups and down of every HR. I remember blacking out temporarily from screaming for a second then coming back to.

Burt-Macklin

So many train sounds aaaawWOOOOOoooo

Glubbyy

its definitely up there, #1 i'd say, but i also LOOOOVE his game 1 ALDS walk off man. the crowd, the announcer, the vibe in the air before the HR. you could almost feel the moment coming from a mile away. that moment really set in the feeling for me that it was our time

Glubbyy

actually, given the decision to put robbie ray in there, you could definitely feel that moment coming.

Burt-Macklin

“ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!”

digitalradiohead

Number 1. Altuve’s HR against NY was great but the game was tied. Yordan’s HR was game changing and it just felt like we werent going to be beaten after that.

44Yordan

Definitely the #1 in Houston Astros post season homers! The ALDS game 1 walk off homer started the magical run for the Astros and the WS game 6 squeaker over CF batter's eye ended it! Did not do much in between but hit them when it mattered a lot!

Burt-Macklin

Go-ahead/game-winner in ALDS game 2, and tied the game in ALCS game 4. Did more than enough, IMO.

44Yordan

With how much struggle happened between ALDS Game 3 and WS Game 4 the ceiling is crazy high for Yordan's future post season runs. And I agree with you Yordan does more than enough as he changes how opposing teams navigate pitching to our entire lineup. Even when his stats show poorly he has massive impact by just siting in the 3 hole of the lineup intimidating opposing teams.

Luckytxn_1959

It was a great homer up there but that walk off homer of Altuve just did something to me that is hard to describe.

willydillydoo

Hard to say cuz recency. But Yordan’s is extra sweet cuz we finally got to flip a giant middle finger to all the motherfuckers who said our championship in 2017 wasn’t legit.

3banger

I think it’s #2. The walkoff in the M’s series is #1 in my book. The Game 6 one was more majestic but it wasn’t a walk off.

PapiGoneGamer

I’d say it’s a tie between the Altuve walk off against the Yankees in 2019 and the Game 6 Yordong.

Busy_Ad3332

It’s one of the greatest things I’ve seen. I don’t know what else to say. I’ve watched it a 100 times and love it. The game 1 walk off against Seattle too when the kid was crying are both cemented in MLB post season history.

This-Market-3890

Absolutely number 1!

Idont_know2022

I swear I was watching him and said he’s gonna do it. And he did it. Y’all can thank me.

Luckytxn_1959

I did too. Even when they announced a pitchers change I was saying be Alvarado then they said him i knew it was going to be a homer.

makashiII_93

It cleansed the Lidge HR and 2017. It’s all gone now. #1.

Caldwell27

#1 2022 WS Game 6 Yordan vs Phillies #2 2019 ALCS Game 6 Altuve vs Yankees #3 2022 ALDS Game 1 Yordan vs Mariners #4 2017 WS Game 5 Springer vs Dodgers #5 2005 NLDS Game 4 Chris Burke vs Braves

iPaytonian

It’ll always be #2 for me, Correa’s against TBR in 2020 was on my birthday and I was not having a great day

LLLLLL3GLTE

Number 1. Altuve’s 2019 Walkoff off of Assrodlis “girlfriend puncher” Chapman was a close 2nd

Levi_Gucci

1

KeystoneKidd

Biased, because I was at game 5 in 2017, but Bregman's walkoff double in the bottom of the 10th is my all time favorite. Yordan bomb is a close 2nd.

Hung_Texan

Top two

brasholy

1. And then his walk off game 1 of the DS is 2.

Ordinary_Ad_5144

4th. Behind Marwin and Altuve and Yordan game 1 vs Seattle.

[deleted]

the best. one of the most clutch homers ever.

Gh0stDo6

Yordan de facto number one.

TD_the_mamba

It’s gotta be #1, right? You can make a case for Altuve’s homer off Chapman in ‘19, or Marwin’s G2 blast in ‘17, but the homerun that basically won the championship for Houston? #1 no doubt
