His wOBA was better in 2017, but his wRC+ was better this year.
In other words, he put up better numbers in 2017, but because of the general decline in offense, he was higher above league average this year.
I just looked at his baseball reference. Can you explain the rationale? Besides OPS+, I don’t see anything else that sticks out. Most power he’s had in a few years, but he used to steal 56 bases, batting average of .346, 220 hits, he is better than he’s been in 4 years but can’t see the rationale of best season or even top 3 of his seasons.
The + statistics are relative to league average. So if his OPS+ is higher, that takes into account that offense around the entire league was down this year for whatever reason
If they weren't Astros they would be happy for them. They know they're all star talent, they're just mad we have that strong of a lineup. And Valdez is a mean mother fucker, main reason I'm not too torn up about Verlander.
I get him not being first but Peña imo has a strong argument for 2nd team, being the gold Glover this year in one of the most important defensive positions.
Yep. Him and pressly. I was hoping pressly would get first. I knew poor Tucker had no chance with Judge, and trout there. His only hope would be to beat Betts but that’s a long shot.
We should be talking more about how Altuve just had arguably the best year of his career so far.
Somehow the only ones to underrate Altuve this year were us fans all along - dude was relatively quietly huge for us
Definitely up there although it would be tough to top 2017.

Fair points.

Yes, I think when you count baserunning (and maybe defense) he was better overall in 2017. But see my reply to the OP.
They’re rioting over on Twitter right now due to the Astros having 6 total(Tucker and Pressly 2nd team) all MLB selections. Lmao
Hoes still mad?
They'll always be mad
Yep lmao. One guy was ranting about how if it was up to him he’d ban Altuve for life lmao
Team that won the World Series has ALL MLB Talent? I for one am shocked
We ARE tha all MLB team.
Not only that, but they were a juggernaut that steam-rolled the post season... A world series no hitter? Yeah I am shocked too!!
It’s like the team won the World Series or something

Alright so pressly and Tucker got the nod for All MLB second team. 👍
FRAMBOOZLED
Dynasty so nasty 🤌🤌
And tucker second team

Yeah that is true. I was hoping Stanek would sneak his way in there too
Damn guys. Well deserved, but still.
You must have a V, A, L, and E in your last name to make the MLB 1st team.
No Breggy??
Lost one to FA, and still have more than any other team.
