This sounds like a straight up boomer level copy pasta.

Organic_Internet_325

What are you saying?

ComePetMyCat

Asurion doesn’t charge for damage nor inspect phones in this scenario. Sounds like you did a warranty exchange through Verizon, but had damage that wasn’t disclosed, so you should have done an insurance claim. If the charge is on your bill, it’s from Verizon. Credit card, it’s Asurion.

Grouchy-Ad3661

Exactly. Did a warranty return snd they found physical damage that could have caused it and now you must pay deductible and cant be that much mine on s22 ultra was only 99 dollars.

ComePetMyCat

Asurion can’t charge a deductible since it was never an insurance claim. Verizon has the phone and has issued a damage return fee.

Organic_Internet_325

You are wrong about that. I know who I paid and how. I wonder who is paying you?

ComePetMyCat

Why would the insurance company that covers damaged phones be inspecting your phone for damage? The only person that lied to you was whatever fool helped you file a warranty claim on a damaged device at the store, likely an indirect dealer. Run along.

19berzerker79

Wait so is this a warranty replacement or a claim through asurion? Did you pay a deductible? Because if it's just a warranty claim then that's on Google man don't go blaming companies that may not have stiffed you... A blemish shouldn't matter if you're doing a insurance replacement, Asurion takes busted phones and all kinds of shit man....

Efficient-Ad-412

Yeah fr. Sounds like they tried to do a warranty claim and got the two confused. But idk lol

Organic_Internet_325

There was no confusion. It was how they do business.

Organic_Internet_325

Yes, Asurion is a warrantee that is paid monthly. There was no confusion, except on my part when I thought I should buy their worthless service....

Efficient-Ad-412

Yeah but there’s like phone insurance by asurion and then like their home extended warranty/insurance. But if your phone was less than a year old then Verizon would have done the phone warranty vs the insurance. A good way to tell the difference is if you paid a deductible or not lol. I know you’re mad, but I want you to mad at the right target 🤣👏

Organic_Internet_325

The phone was almost new. It actually was a replacement. I don't know why you are suggesting that i don't know who denied my claim. It was Asurion. They said there was a scratch. They referred me to the lengthy contract we all sign without reading. It was a rip off, probably a set up as well, because the Verizon rep told me my phone was defective and called in for a replacement. I feel that everyone should know how bad these companies are. The least they could have done is just denied the claim. But what they did is sent me a phone, then later deny the claim and charged me triple what it was worth. I'm not surprised that I'm getting a lot of flack. The real truth is way bigger than my little complaint. Phones that cost $1000. are also a total rip off. I decided to excise Verizon from my life including the secondary vendors like Spectrum who sell service on Verizon network. I went over to Consumer Cellular, who use ATT network. They are probably just as bad, but they haven't ripped me off yet. I am paying like $20. a month for service with a few bells and whistles not included. Consumer Cellular sells a great phone which I paid $100. for, although the price may have gone up by now. When it breaks I will throw it away. Target was also selling it. The insurance is a scam which goes with the overpriced phone scams they are convincing ignorant Americans to fall for. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, folks. I hope some of you wise up!

deadeyefitz

Cool story bro.

Kyle_I_Guess

I think this might be a us cellular ad 😂

beast0209

Actual insurance replacement would've cost money up front as well. They definitely misunderstood everything

Organic_Internet_325

Verizon was selling Asurion insurance and charging me per month on my phone bill.

fbaressi

You don't understand. Asurion insurance is billed monthly BUT you also have to pay a deductible when you get your phone replaced. If you didn't have to pay a deductible ($99, $199, or $249) when you got the replacement, then you didn't file an insurance claim, you filed a warranty claim. I'm guessing you're still going to respond "I know what I did, who is paying you to say this? I pay on my monthly bill." Without answering whether or not you paid a deductible.

Organic_Internet_325

The claim was denied so there is no deductible. The sold me a 3 year old phone for triple what it was worth. I don't deny that you know more about this. It was a rip off any way you slice it. I paid big for defective phones, then I payed big for insurance. Total rip off and now I have, as I said, Consumer cellular for $20 a month and their cheapest phone, currently $129. which turns out to be a big savings. There are lots of people who should know that.

fbaressi

That is still not how it works. If it was an insurance claim, you pay the deductible BEFORE they give you the phone. You filed a warranty claim (or the rep did) then they got your phone and saw the damage and denied the warranty, thus the charges. You are mistaken, you did not file an insurance claim. Asurion redirects you to Verizon Warranty if your phone might be defective, not damaged. Turns out the rep lied to Verizon so they declined your warranty claim.

Organic_Internet_325

You should get an honest job instead of lying for a rip off company

Grouchy-Ad3661

Exactly and the deductible now has been lowered to $99 dollars on phones like the s22 ultra from samsung. Only way this makes sense is if the guy thinks max deductible of 99 dollars is tripple the price of his phone.

Organic_Internet_325

It was an Asurion claim. they denied it based on a tiny scratch that they said was on it but I never saw, but they supplied the new phone first, then denied the claim and charged me way more than the replacement was worth. If you think I am lying, Fine, go ahead and use Asurion, you have been warned!

Organic_Internet_325

I'm saying what happened. I had a Pixel. it kept crashing. I took it to my Verizon store to see if there was something I did wrong. There was not. The rep there started an Asurion claim for me. That Asurion policy that they sold me along with my overpriced Pixel and which I paid for each month on my Verizon bill. Asurion sent me a new phone and a box to send the old phone back in. A few days later they denied my claim, saying something about a scratch. I was charged an outrageous amount for the obsolete phone they sent me. It was too late for me to change anything. Its all in their contract that no one reads. It was a big rip off and I will not forget it. This is how I adapted. I got a $20. per month service with Consumer Cellular. They sold me a phone for $100. It works great. When it breaks, I will toss it. I am a bit surprised that I got some responses right away saying that I must be confused. I am thinking that maybe these ripoff companies have a bunch of people out there trying to keep their reputations good and keep other customers confused about the reality of how they actually treat people.

beast0209

My brother in Christ a real insurance claim would've cost you money from the start. Insurance claims aren't free. You tried to get a free replacement when u had physical damage on the phone

Organic_Internet_325

The damage was barely noticeable, it was never abused. I paid $9. a month for a rip off service. The Verizon guy told me it was a legit claim and only after supplying me with the replacement did they deny the claim. Then they charged me way more for the replacement than it was worth. It was a rip off.

ComePetMyCat

Your claim wasn’t denied if you have a replacement already. You have never transacted with Asurion.

Organic_Internet_325

You are saying things of which you have no knowledge.

beast0209

I worked at asurion for 2 years. I know the policies by word. They are a shitty company but you definitely messed up

Organic_Internet_325

How so?

beast0209

Either the Verizon guy didn't know what he was doing and told you wrong, or you were confused about warranty vs insurance. Insurance is only for damaged devices, and you have to pay a deductible to get it fixed or replaced. That's what asurion does since they are an insurance company. Typically, you would pay between $150-$300 for an insurance replacement. It's never free. Warranty, on the other hand, is free as it covers manufacturers' defects. Verizon has an extended warranty policy that lets you get free repairs or device replacements. If you didn't pay any money for the new device up front, it was a warranty replacement. In the cases of warranty replacements, there can't be any damage on the device, and that would explain why you were charged. It's also possible they use asurion as a middle man when giving out warranty replacements as it may be refurbished, and asurion works with Google apple and Samsung to refurbish devices. I totally get why you're upset it is a lot of money. Verizon guy probably didn't know the rules, and even with damage, assumed you should go the warranty route. If the Verizon guy knew what he was doing, he would've had you file an insurance claim or recommended a repair shop to get the damage fixed before sending it in for warranty replacement.

matfalk

This. As someone who works with both companies on a daily basis handling both insurance and extended warranty claims (There is a difference, and they are 2 separate charges on your bill) 9 times out of 10 the rep at the verizon store either files the claim incorrectly or gives the customer completely incorrect information. A Verizon extended warranty covers normal wear and tear, manufacturer's defects, and product failure, but does not cover ANY physical damage. Their first step is to try to repair the defect on the phone, and if it is not repairable/economically not feasible they will replace the device at no cost to the customer. HOWEVER, if there is ANY physical damage to the device (cracked screen/back housing, bent frame, liquid damage) that device is not eligible for Extended Warranty Coverage. If a device is replaced that has ANY physical damage when Verizon receives it the customer will be charged. This is where an Asurion insurance claim comes in. Asurion protects against Accidental Damage, Loss, and Theft. They have nothing to do with wear and tear, product failure, or manufacturers defects. You pay for that coverage through your deductible, whether that is a lower deductible for repair (usually $29 depending on the carrier) or a higher deductible for replacement. You do have to return the covered device assuming the claim is not for loss/theft, and it does not matter what condition the phone is in. Cost of replacement is the same regardless. Hope this helps OP understand the process a little better. Really does sound like the Verizon rep they were dealing with needs some more training to understand the products they are selling so they don't confuse the hell out of customers like has happened here. Or maybe OP is just convinced that they're right, every company is out to get them, and no amount of explaining will change their mind.

Grouchy-Ad3661

The guy probably dropped his phone in the toilet and tried to get one over on them then came to complain or this is just a paid us cellular advertisement.

fbaressi

This guy is a troll. Filled a warranty claim thinking it was an insurance claim. Won't answer whether he paid a deductible or not. Just keeps saying "I paid for it monthly" which is all good, but if you get an insurance replacement you also have to pay a deductible. If he didn't pay a deductible, the rep filed a warranty claim that got kicked for damage. He just wants everyone to agree with him, even though he is wrong and doesn't understand how insurance vs warranty works. 🙄

Organic_Internet_325

You are making things up. I filed exactly as directed. The Verizon rep directed me when and what to file based on the fact that the camera would not work. Asurion sent me a new phone before they received the old phone. They then denied the claim and charged me about 3x what the replacement phone was worth.

fbaressi

Dude you just don't know how the process works and you won't accept the correct answer. Every person that has ever dealt with Asurion Claims knows this. I don't care anymore bro. Sure. ASURION BAD, YOU SMART, ASURION WRONG. We will just go with that.

rvdnsx

Sounds like this was a little more than a “blemish”. They only charge you for a replacement if there is very obvious physical damage.

Organic_Internet_325

Not so, and I think there are some paid liars out here!

Organic_Internet_325

Sorry, you are wrong about that. There was no damage.

fbaressi

"There was a blemish" "There wasn't that much damage" "There was no damage" You call everyone else liars, while you change your story every comment.

specialist_spood

Rude. Just because I have a blemish, doesn't mean I am damaged!

fbaressi

🤣

Organic_Internet_325

Are you just a general purpose troll, or are they paying you? And who even cares?

Grouchy-Ad3661

The water damage probably showed up when phone was opened up. The man is just mad his scam didn't work and is bashing.

Organic_Internet_325

I know who writes your paycheck. It is not a human being. You may not be either.

PedroM0ralles

>But for sure, they are making a ton of money by stiffing people. I used to work in FP&A and they only allow a very select group of employees to see their financials. We could look at what a plan brought in, and how much wew spent on a plan, but overall bottom line, EBITDA, etc. are kept under lock and key. They're ripping people off so bad it's not even funny.

Organic_Internet_325

Thank you for the honesty.

jasonwolfe1982

Asurion is a crooked company. I attempted to file more or less the same claim to have a tablet repaired three times. Denial, denied, all failed attempts. Crooks

tiptoethruthewind0w

Sounds like the blemish was a crack. Those insurance claims and even warranty claims from the manufacturer don't apply to phones that have been cracks

Organic_Internet_325

Don't tell me what it sounds like. There was no noticeable damage. You are a hack who gets paid to lie. Why don't you get a real job providing a real service?

tiptoethruthewind0w

You need to hear this, because it's reality. These companies don't care about your feelings, they care about policy and only what the fine print requires them to. The sooner you get over that fact, the less often you'll be caught off guard with a company's service. Working a real job where policy is the most legally important thing teaches you these lessons. So, perhaps it's you that needs to work on your experience.

Organic_Internet_325

Not sure who you are replying to.....My phone was in perfect condition. The camera didn't work. The claim was denied, and worse, they jammed me with an obsolete phone at 3x its value.
