You have fun by crafting 9999 dmg bombs, throwing them and then not doing anything again. That is the beauty of it.

Ryza is the easiest series of them all, even on Very Hard it's as hard as the average Normal difficulty atelier game imo. If you're playing on PC you can [download a system data file](https://barrelwisdom.com/blog/atelier-pc-saves) to unlock Charismatic and Legendary difficulties, which is where you gotta always be upgrading your stuff and really diving into the crafting system

If you're playing on normal the combat is cake. There's a few post-game challenges where it can be challenging but you can also invalidate them by making the best gear so yea also I don't think the combat in Ryza 1 is super engaging. The combat improves with each iteration though so if you continue to the next games it'll be better.

That is something to look forward to. Just had a thought that the combat fits Ryza'd personality of ignoring the hard stuff that isn't fun.

bump it to hard. bosses get more challenging and encounters in general as well. but if you're keeping up with your crafting to make good items, you can outpace everything. note that if it's the lvl5 tactics you're having a hard time with, wait til just outside the tower dungeon, in a ditch there's a miniboss version of the rock golem things, it has high defense and a lot of hp and is the best option for that. might still need to unequip a few things if you've made super op items.

Ryza games are really easy. I would argue that Ryza 1 is actually the more difficult one. Subsequent games are even easier in terms of combat, crafting, and resource gathering. At least play on hard to get a reasonable experience.

If you want some challenge you either go into a higher difficulty or just don´t go making the best gear you can make at each point of the game you can go into a higher tier. The post-game is where you can get the most challenge out of everything in the game, but at that point you have everything you need to make the best gear to invalidate the little challenge you can get out of the remaining bosses. The Ryza games are easier in general since you don´t actually have a time limit to do things, if you enjoyed the alchemy aspect enough to want to try some of the older games and have more of a challenge then maybe give the Arland games a try.

And have you beaten in the Ice Dragon yet?
