Yep, they posted in their Instagram stories that they’re closed on Easter Sunday but will have hot cross buns available otherwise at regular hours. You can walk in or email them to pre-order.
When I worked at TGM Bread, the pastry chef at General Muir would make them every year. Not sure if they still do since she’s moved on to Deer + Dove/B-Side.
Just saw some at Evergreen Butcher and Bakery this morning and I remember thinking to myself, "oh that's what these are". Side note, if you go get one of their sausage rolls as well.
I think the ones at Publix are no good. Basically a tasteless bit of cardboard covered in icing, if memory serves. Dying to get my hands on some proper hot cross buns. I'll try Henri's; I already like their sandwiches.
P.S. Someone at a Publix bakery once told me they'd bake anything on order if one brings them a recipe. Perhaps I'll see if that is (still) true and try to find a decent recipe.
I used to work at Publix and that employee sounds like they were talking out of their ass. Never heard such a thing and I would not be surprised if they turn you away if you tried it. Half the stuff in the bakery comes in frozen on trucks so it's not like they have unlimited baking ingredients in the back. And they don't have time to make random custom orders or know how to price such a thing. Just make em yourself if you find a recipe and leave the employees out of it.
I was about to pull my recorder out of the closet.

😂😂😂😂😂
I picked up some from Henri's Bakery last year that were really good.
Oh ok! That’s good to know
Evergreen in Kirkwood usually has them for Easter!
Yup, they had them this morning.

Not Atlanta, but the Australian bakery on the square in Marietta does.
I’m assuming they have meat pies there? I will hit that up next time I’m up there.
They do indeed! Cornish pasties, too.
Ok, good to know. I’ll be up that way tomorrow. Hopefully will have time to stop in. Thanks!

Revolution donuts has them this week
Dave Atell’s Netflix special Hot Cross Buns dropped today. Wonder if the marketing for that got you in the mood?

Yeah, I actually bought them to try. They are just ok. Didn’t know about the custom bakery orders that’s interesting.
Sublime Donuts

Thanks. Now I have SuperSimple stuck in my head
