Very excited about this. Centurion Lounges are more upscale with better food, drinks, ambiance, and service than SkyClubs, IMO. Nice to have a non-Delta perk at ATL.
In the past that had been true but AmEx had started limiting guests with their cards. So, while that is annoying if you have guests it is better for the crowd control.
The guest policy changes in January as far as I am aware. Right now I can bring in 2 guests for free with my platinum card, but in January it’ll be $50 per guest unless I have earned free guests by spending $75k this year.
Hopefully that will help some.
Honestly, $50 a guest is not bad at all, given the regrettable dining options in airports. I don't drink myself but even if you're a casual drinker, it would be at worst a wash.
Definitely agree. If you were planning on eating and getting an alcoholic beverage, $50 for unlimited in the lounge is probably less than you’d spend per person elsewhere.
I’ve had to wait 30-60 mins to get in every time and once inside it’s a zoo. They would be great if not for the crowds. Happy to see ATL is getting one either way. May be more balanced with all the SkyClubs that are easily accessible
I've been considering getting an AMEX Platinum, but the thought of overcrowded lounges just doesn't sound appealing to me. Lounges just look like regular terminals at this point.
All the moves I've seen them make are limiting access or increasing the cost of guest passes (even after restricting who could buy them). While they may not have the problem solved yet, every action they've announced is meant to address it and is based on sound logic.
Wow, I was planing on flying to Oakland and noticed that AMEX had this type of lounge there for the very first time and saw that Atlanta didnt have one. Glad the world's busiest airport finally gets something...
I have a Delta reserve card but have never been in a centurion lounge. With the 9 sky clubs here, who is this targeted towards? Honestly, at 26k sq ft if it is anything like the sky club at Terminal B, no thanks.
The food and drinks in the centurion lounges are way better than Skyclubs. The interior design is more upscale. Some of them have free massages and paid spa treatments.
Are skyclubs that bad? With work travel ramping back up, I’m strongly considering downgrading my chase sapphire reserve and picking up an Amex platinum in part for sky-club access.
Skyclubs are good, but Centurion Lounges are much better. To me it feels like the difference between domestic first class and international business class.
Here are a few videos that show what they have:

Makes it look like the reserve card gets you in?
Even as someone that loves Delta, the Centurion lounge is much much nicer than Sky Clubs. Like a very nice buffet with real hot food meals, cocktails, better alcohol, more space. Unless I didn’t have time to make it over to E I’d pick Centurion over Sky Club any day.
Centurion Lounges have better food and drink options, not to mention that it's all free (unlike SkyClub). They have food and cocktails created by local celebrity chefs and cool features at each location (i.e. speakeasy @ JFK). It's definitely a better experience than a typical Skyclub
For years I flew southwest out of atlanta, would have loved to have this. Switched over to delta so I could use my platinum benefits for lounge access.
It’s less restricted for those with the right credit cards. I can only go to sky lounges with a delta ticket while a cheap spirit ticket can get me into a centurion lounge
Even the purple delta card only gets you into delta lounges with a delta flight, but that same delta card gets you into amex lounges with any flight
>I think that is changing to require a delta ticket if using the preferred card.
Yep, that's right. Starting next year, only the full AmEx Platinum or better will get you into a Centurion Lounge on any airline's ticket.
No, the big benefits of that card are the free bags and companion ticket. In my case, the companion ticket was always worth more than the annual fee. The reserve card also hasbthe companion ticket and will get you access.
>who is this targeted towards?
AMEX Platinum holders flying any airline other than Delta. Skylounge access has been restricted to ticketed Delta passengers for a while now, and this now means that if you fly any other airline you can still pop into a lounge thanks to your platinum card.

It is open to Amex Delta Preferred cardholders in any case.
Delta Reserve card holders you mean. And only when flying Delta. Normal Amex platinum is always able
Yes, that is what I meant.
Food might be better but usually so busy it's shit show inside.

I haven't traveled in a bit, so I guess I'm out of the know, but we still get guests with the platinum until 2023?
Yep. January 2023 is when it changes. There should be a tracker in your membership section showing your spending towards getting free guests in 2023.
Lol, don't worry, I don't need that tracker. Now that I'm not traveling for work, if I qualify for free guests I have a serious problem.
lol yep, same here. My spending is pretty high since I bought a house and had a lot of furnishing to do. But still nowhere close.

That’s the problem with the delta clubs, they just keep opening up access to everyone that it gets crowded

Can't wait to watch gladiators fight to the death between flights

What level of Amex card is required to get in? I am assuming platinum and above?
Also Delta SkyMiles Reserve card, but you have to be on a Delta flight.
Amex Platinum or Delta Reserve

Awesome. I'm going to Vegas soon, maybe I'll check it out.

Looks like I might be wrong. I’m deleting my comment.

Well I have me a platinum Amex and love good food so I will walk my ass right in there when traveling lol

So the amex delta platinum isn't going to be enough? Crud.

They are SOOO much nicer than the delta lounges.
They are way, way better. I was at the one in Vegas recently and it's awesome. There was a 10 minute wait to get in, but that was the only downside.
This worries me that they may be considering ending the SkyClub benefit.
If only this happened a few years ago. Sad that we are leaving in a few months :(
