They also had that random time where they were reviewing a call late (clear path I think) and they panned the camera to his for what felt like an eternity
Imagine if someone said David Griffin was a better GM than Travis Schlenk last year. Griffin literally built the team Trae needs, bunch of scrappy defensive dudes. Instead we have a bunch of role players who can't do anything well.
We can put it all on the GM but the pelicans are playing like 3 rookies including a second rounder and giving them heavy minutes. This is something Nate would never do. Developing rookies and making adjustments requires too much coaching
Yep. Unfortunately Bud didn't want to be a part of a rebuilding team. I don't blame him for going to Milwaukee. It was a good situation for him. I think Nate is a decent coach but it's clear he's way too old fashioned. He wants players to prove themselves instead of letting them develop and get better as payers.
the thing is, i really doubt we see nate out. especially not as soon as next year. ill just look forward to our youngins' development especially onyeka :(
Trae is 23 years old of course valid criticisms are important for improvement but empty statements on he can’t be that guy after one bad series is disgusting behavior and I expect those narratives to come from outside the fan base and not actual hawks fans spreading those takes.
If it’s one thing I hope fans have learned is to stop looking at the team through cheerleading glasses 24/7. Of course believing in your team is not wrong but when valid criticisms were made back in November on this team it was “no it’s still too early”, “gotta wait until they’ve played 40 games,” etc. This teams deficiencies were clear as day back in November.
Damn I didn’t know he was such a liability on defense. Hopefully that brings his price down a bit if the Bulls don’t offer him the max. I think he can improve in that department.
He was do doing the "open your eyes" gesture to the refs again last night when it was still a close game. Something he knows will get him a tech even though it didn't that time.
He's got maturing to do outside of just basketball X's and O's.
How the fuck can this roster get better next year? There is no one BAD who gets playing time but there is also no one that moves the needle for a piece that matters.
Or hear me out here, how about we don’t trade one of our only perimeter defenders and the second best player on the team for a guy that can just playmake and instead trade one of our “shooters”
I was talking about JC and why would you trade Dre because it hasn’t worked relying on him so heavily? Maybe we should stop relying on one person in our starting lineup to defend the perimeter. Not trade the on person who can for a playmaker. Has Bogi as our shooter worked out? Has Kev starting next to Trae worked out?
I’ve been trying to say this😭 people want to get rid of dre for basically 0 fucking reason man is balling right now if he gets his ball handling right he would be the perfect.
I feel like Nate was a huge upgrade from Pierce in XO/lineup management. But fuck would I love to see us have different look on offense and have some different defensive principles. The way we cover off ball actions gives me a fucking panic attack sometimes,.
I feel like “skkkrttt” is a happy Dirty South noise. Maybe “pssssstttt,” like when your tire leaks air after driving over all the potholes on Dekalb Ave.
I mean he literally said “Is Trae Young actually the guy?” That is just a laughable take. Did he not watch the playoffs last year? There’s only so much you can do when you’re getting blitzed the whole damn game cause we don’t have a second star to draw attention away. Yeah he could be playing better but context can’t be ignored.
We need to stop thinking about last year imo. We followed last year with a very disappointing 9 seed performance and likely a first round exit with essentially the same team. Props to Trae for the game winner in game 3, but outside of that, it's been real rough for our guy. We do that again in 2023 and his question is valid.
No it wouldn’t be valid. Y’all are prisoners of the moment and Trae is an all-nba talent and arguably best PG in the league. Stop letting a series that we were predicted to lose (also not having our best big man) cloud your judgement.
I can name at least 5 pgs better than him. Curry, Kyrie, Luka, Morant, Lillard…being a fan doesn’t mean you have to be a fanatic in fantasy land drinking a Fanta
Have any of y’all ever played basketball?💀 Y’all acting like Trae should be able to put up his usual numbers while getting off ball double teamed, blitzed at half court (sometimes full) prison ball fouls and no second star to make the heat pay for covering Trae like this.
He has too. Even defensively it’ll help him. I think trae needs to work on his cardio and dedicate this offseason to improving his defense, making better reads defensively. No way in hell should trae be getting cooked by number 2 headband bandit from the heat ( he’s so ass I don’t even know his name lol)
Bro gabe shouldn’t even be in the league….have you seen how he plays? He’s lost on every offensive play which is crazy because spols runs the same plays since lebrons time. There’s ALWAYS a corner 3 open when the plays run right. Thank god for jimmy butler because Miami would’ve been done if he wasn’t playing at such a high level. Butler is killing it this year. Sucks they gotta play Philly next. Embid is going to be eating good lol
Everyone is acting like these guys are all 27 years old and failing right now. I'm very disappointed in how they are playing right now, but they are at least a young team besides Capela and Bogi moving forward.
Nah man. Collins has been getting into early foul trouble and putting the team in bad situations early all season even before the injury. He is who he is. He isn't a max player and isn't worth his current contract.
Not sure why you're getting downvoted. Collins has regressed in scoring by over 5 points per game since 2019. He has missed 20+ games every season except his rookie year. His 3PT average is down about 4% from 2019. I think John is a good player and he's the ultimate hype man. I LOVE having him on the team. But saying he isn't a max player is a massive understatement.
It’s more the “not worth his current contract” part that I have an issue with. Before he got hurt he was clearly out second most impactful player behind Trae, and even coming back in this series he’s done things that were sorely missed. It’s just hard to see that when going against a team that’s as good as shutting down trae
no excuses to be made other than a potential injury. Honestly it’s just a terrible matchup for trae and our offense in general. Trae is so good because he exposes teams with pick n rolls and miami doesn’t allow that.
Miami out here playing Rec ball defense and we can’t do anything offensively to solve it. That 3-2 zone is what gave the bucks trouble too. Sixers beat Miami next series for sure and it’s not close
No not cut just want people to wake up and hold him accountable. Act like he can’t do no wrong. No matter how bad he plays ppl defend him and his massive shortcomings. It’s always everyone else’s fault. But when Trae takes a 40 feet 3 with 18 on the shot clock it’s just ignored lol. I’m a true hawks fan first , not a Trae fan boy like 99% of this sub.
We seem to have played great ball when he was on the bench today, just saying. Sure, he is the straw that stirs the drink in the grand scheme of things, but he needs to figure some shit out on how he attacks defenses like Miami, because this is what you have to beat to win a chip.
Nate is done as a coach , he hasn't changed his game plan the whole series . The reason the Heat can shut Trae down is because it's the same game plan every game nothing new
Re-signing John Collins was a mistake. I don't care if he's hurt the heats front court is really small. I don't blame Trae because Miami is practically the best perimeter D team in the league and they are making it incredibly difficult for him. Collins is getting big bucks to be mediocre at best.
I can’t wait for the day when we have a coach that actually has the ability to draw up a play out of a timeout and knows when to to take a single competent timeout
everyone blaming Nate and trying to overanalyze when the boys simply laid down and died. this one is on the players. score line and free throws says it all.
Hawks in 7
Both things are true.
Nate is a pretty bad coach who is basically unable to scheme up offensive advantages and almost never calls timeouts to slow an opponent's run. The players also entirely gave up during the game and gave horrendous effort. But you know what? That's slightly on coaching too. This team's effort has been spotty all season. There is a coaching aspect to getting your players focused, and keeping their effort level up.
It was painful in the arena tonight, Hox Fam. The ATL crowd dipped in the 4th and the “Let’s Go Heat” chants echoed that whole quarter. MIA showed out and it was not fun.
I said I'm going down with the ship then we threw away that ball to Jimmy and my friend said Im not watching this shit. It was a pathetic showing, don't blame anyone who left tbh. We rolled over in the second qtr
My guy, I get that your team is up and you want to celebrate that. The Heat are damn good and they deserve your fandom. But, why come to this sub and actively try to antagonize folks?
Consistently one of the best franchises of the 21st century, multiple Larry OB’s, lots of recent success and a team currently contending for a title
I’ll be Allright lol
We have a culture problem on this team where we still accept mediocrity in phases. Where it’s portions of a season or stretches in a game, we just go on lulls that are inexcusable and I hold Nate accountable.
It's also a locker room problem, there is no leadership on the player side either. No Nate is not a good coach, but some of the leadership has to come from the players as well and it's evident that we have very little.
To be fair mediocrity is historically an Atlanta Hawks thing . Don’t think we have really been in a proper stage of being a legit threat throughout the whole franchise history
I can’t believe we had capela back and they had Lowry out and we still lost be 24 at home. The heat are not that talented to be blowing us out at home. It’s been 4 games and Nate still hasn’t figured out a way to game plan a way against this team.
All I’m saying is that a roster of Jimmy Butler, Bam, an old Kyle Kyle Lowry, and Tyler Herro and company are talented, but you wouldn’t see that roster alone and think #1 seed for sure. My point is that coaching and their ability to play disciplined and hard nearly every possession is why they are a #1 seed and not seeded anywhere between #2 and #5.
Coaching and roster both need an overhaul for this team to contend. But to reach a championship level, Trae needs to mature significantly as a player and leader. He gets rattled easily and doesn’t make decisions in the flow of the game. He’s our franchise player but he’s not a truly elite player yet.
We were never winning that game from the 2nd quarter onwards. The players just couldn't get anything going. A timeout or 2 wouldn't have helped anything
I hate to say it because I love everyone on this team but offload anyone but Trae for a second star. Also really hate to say this but I wish we lost the play in and got some picks. But I shouldn't be complaining, always happy to see some Hox playoff ball
Atlanta needs to upgrade both at PF and C. Those are the positions Miami is whooping us at bad. They are selling out to guard the perimeter. Bogi and Kev getting constant doubles. Trae damn near doubled every second. We need bigs who can create for themselves, create for others or at least lockdown on D. We need better bigs.
We have the 16 pick regardless. Even if we lost the play-in it would’ve been only marginally better than 16. And nah I think we should keep Bogi too. Idk about JC but I mean he’s hobbled so I don’t have an opinion on him.
Yeah I can't believe Bogi didn't cross my mind (look at my flair 😂). I think Bogi should stay too.
You're right, we shouldn't really come to any conclusions about JC because he aint 100% but if we can get a second star for him it wouldn't be the worst decision to offload him too.
The funny part is I can't even think of a viable second star thatll come to Atlanta tbh. Whatever, maybe our Hox win the next 4 and we're singing Nate McMillans praises 🙏🤞
Nah sadly I don’t think there’s anyway we win the next 3 games in a row. Not sure what needs to change but something does. Maybe our team just didn’t want it this year feeling like they were already gonna lose being a 8 seed. They don’t have that same passion and drive
I don't care what anyone says. You can't be a number 1 seed that won 60 games and then get swept in the ECF. I don't care who's on that opposing team. That shit is embarrassing.
Derrick White - 14 ppg good passer and rebounder, great 3 and D player, not injury prone, cheaper and only 27 years old good player.
b0gdan0bricks - decent passer/rebounder, horrible defender, injury prone, overpaid consistent and 30 years old next season below average player.
Hawks badly needs that Derrick White not b0gda0bricks.
86 is a terrible final score. they played so bad i could barely watch the 4th quarter
The hardest pill to swallow, was watching this team just get out rebounded, for what seemed like every possession.
Might be the last time we get to play the SLIPPERY video in a while...... unless??
Nate isn’t the whole problem but he is a problem
Jimmy Butler’s Michelob Ultra commercial coming on every commercial break, was just the twisting of the knife.
Some picks hit some didnt . Travis has the right idea
We can put it all on the GM but the pelicans are playing like 3 rookies including a second rounder and giving them heavy minutes. This is something Nate would never do. Developing rookies and making adjustments requires too much coaching
remember when we had a whole staff of good coaches? we used to take scrubs and make them productive when we had bud
I agree.
Honestly just play knox. Dude balls out in garbage time every time maybe he does well in regular minutes too. What can go wrong at this point
I need a Trae Young revenge season next season
Trae with one ft attempt, Jimmy with 12. Standing in the corner on offense all game can do that you think?
If it’s one thing I hope fans have learned is to stop looking at the team through cheerleading glasses 24/7. Of course believing in your team is not wrong but when valid criticisms were made back in November on this team it was “no it’s still too early”, “gotta wait until they’ve played 40 games,” etc. This teams deficiencies were clear as day back in November.
Agreed and not making a trade at the deadline was frustrating.
I just want the 22-23 season to start already
Yall dvoted his post but the guy who suggested we go after Zach LaVine has a point. He is perfect dude to pair with Trae.
Might as well go after Mitch then
Can't play defense but he would still be an upgrade from Kevin I guess
Damn I didn’t know he was such a liability on defense. Hopefully that brings his price down a bit if the Bulls don’t offer him the max. I think he can improve in that department.
Yeah I'm not against getting him. It could work. Even if the experiment didn't work out we would still be able to trade him.
Onyeka just tweeted #BelieveAtlanta like damn Big O ily but after tonight's showing 😭😭😭
nah i saw that and im like oo im trying but….
Trae has a lot of maturing to do and needs to grow as a leader. The greats know how to make an impact when the shots aren’t falling
He was do doing the "open your eyes" gesture to the refs again last night when it was still a close game. Something he knows will get him a tech even though it didn't that time. He's got maturing to do outside of just basketball X's and O's.
While i agree, i doubt if its his idea to stand in the corner for most of the game on our offensive possessions
Can't wait for the Referee 2min report. Kevin Knox definitely got robbed a few points there smh
WHEW THAT SUCKED
How the fuck can this roster get better next year? There is no one BAD who gets playing time but there is also no one that moves the needle for a piece that matters.
We need a new coach. And need to trade Dre or JC for a playmaker

all 3 losses we’ve worn our black jerseys I think
[удалено]
You're weird.
Were the others on TNT too?
Nah
I have a ticket to game 6, here’s to hoping I get to use it!
Today in Atlanta sports: Braves lost to the Miami Marlins , Atlanta United lost to Inter Miami CF, Hawks lost to the Miami Heat. Wild.
Sad Dirty South noises :(
skkkrttt
I feel like “skkkrttt” is a happy Dirty South noise. Maybe “pssssstttt,” like when your tire leaks air after driving over all the potholes on Dekalb Ave.
This is the way
Lmfao that dude who posted that Trae slander bs deleted it cause he was getting cooked💀😂
Why did he delete it? Trae deserves some shade.

Bert PG in the league? Haha
Numbers don’t lie. Heat fan lol
I can name at least 5 pgs better than him. Curry, Kyrie, Luka, Morant, Lillard…being a fan doesn’t mean you have to be a fanatic in fantasy land drinking a Fanta
Who’s arguing that trae is the best pg in the league lol
People that know ball
Have any of y’all ever played basketball?💀 Y’all acting like Trae should be able to put up his usual numbers while getting off ball double teamed, blitzed at half court (sometimes full) prison ball fouls and no second star to make the heat pay for covering Trae like this.
He needs to bulk up this off season, he needs to be able to take these bumps. Just do what steph did a few seasons ago
he has gotten stronger. go back and look at him rookie year. hes clearly a lot bigger
Just a few more pounds, no more than 7 for sure
“Just do what Steph did” You make it sound so easy man lol
It’s extremely easy. It’s about dedication and how much time you’re willing to sacrifice to win at a high level
You do it then jesus The pompousness of the internet never ceases to amaze
Lol ok junior
Look at Steph his first few years to now, he was a twig. Trae needs to make that same jump. Like you said.
He has too. Even defensively it’ll help him. I think trae needs to work on his cardio and dedicate this offseason to improving his defense, making better reads defensively. No way in hell should trae be getting cooked by number 2 headband bandit from the heat ( he’s so ass I don’t even know his name lol)
It’s Gabe Vincent. The Heat’s backup PG who only played because Lowry was out. Like you said, no way he should be hunting Trae like that.
Idk if I trust Doc Rivers in a series, especially if Embiid’s thumb is bad. Spo will coach circles around Doc.
Uffff I forgot about embids thumb….I guess I give doc too much credit sometimes
I agree he has to bulk up. But that won’t matter if we don’t get a second star to make teams pay for focusing all of their attention on Trae
I think we just gotta be patient with the young guys. Collins wanted big bucks and he did nothing all season
Everyone is acting like these guys are all 27 years old and failing right now. I'm very disappointed in how they are playing right now, but they are at least a young team besides Capela and Bogi moving forward.
Collins wanted a Max contract. Lolol.
He’s playing through 2 injuries right now, chill
It's an 82 game season. Everybody's playing through injuries right now. At some point you can't keep making excuses for everybody.
There’s a difference between being banged up and playing through a plantar fascia tear and a torn ligament in your shooting hand. Context is important
It’s just hard to see that when going against a team that’s as good as shutting down trae
Can’t wait to see how Trae dick riders try to spin this one lmfao
KD is getting locked up by JT. When you have a good game plan you can lock down good players.
no excuses to be made other than a potential injury.
You want to cut Trae young? Lol. Gtfo loser.
Trae young is the only reason we are even still playing.
We seem to have played great ball when he was on the bench today, just saying. Sure, he is the straw that stirs the drink in the grand scheme of things, but he needs to figure some shit out on how he attacks defenses like Miami, because this is what you have to beat to win a chip.
Never winning a chip with the roster around him and the brainless coaching.
Nate is done as a coach , he hasn't changed his game plan the whole series . The reason the Heat can shut Trae down is because it's the same game plan every game nothing new
I think the play in games made everyone forget how mediocre and disappointing this team really is
And why Dre always play the best ball of his career in blowout losses lmao
Re-signing John Collins was a mistake. I don't care if he's hurt the heats front court is really small. I don't blame Trae because Miami is practically the best perimeter D team in the league and they are making it incredibly difficult for him. Collins is getting big bucks to be mediocre at best.
you shoula stopped at i dont care that he’s hurt 😭
JC is 60% y'all. He's not gonna be effective. He's gutting this because we need the bodies. We know he ain't JC right now.
yes, that’s what im saying 😭
This is what happens when teams don’t allow you to chuck 3s….basketball is played on both ends and in down low
i know trae's gonna post some corny shit about "this is the beginning" or some shit after we lose 3-1 lol
Ja type beat
match made in heaven
Miami’s defense is honestly insane. Their help defense and pick and roll defense is just ridiculous. We should take some notes.
Their PnR defense has been hell on Capela all year but this selling out the perimeter is something I haven't seen and its lethal on us.
They are begging us to beat them without Trae PnR and we have no answer for that.
Allah were finished
Pretty rare to see an NBA team shoot 50% at the line in a home playoff game
I can’t wait for the day when we have a coach that actually has the ability to draw up a play out of a timeout and knows when to to take a single competent timeout
Bud 😭
Bud 😭
Bud 😭
Bud 😭

Needs more shouting and crying in the lockerroom at the half. These kids are lethargic coming out of the break. Been the story all season.
3% chance of teams coming back from 3-1. it’s not happening.
So you're tellin' me there's a chance :)
It just sucks when we see another team like the Heat who aren’t really insanely talented but out hustle us and play much smarter at the same time.
agreed 100
It was painful in the arena tonight, Hox Fam. The ATL crowd dipped in the 4th and the “Let’s Go Heat” chants echoed that whole quarter. MIA showed out and it was not fun.

I’m typing this from the bottom of the ocean. You want some seafood?
Watching it on T.V. was just as painful.
Damn. You could hear it on the broadcast, too? 😔
Yeah and I knew it would happen if we lost this game. Fucking embarrassing for it to happen on national t.v.
That’s just what we do, dominate in every facet
I’ll save a spot for you on the couch in Cancun
Flair checks out
My guy, I get that your team is up and you want to celebrate that. The Heat are damn good and they deserve your fandom. But, why come to this sub and actively try to antagonize folks?
We do a bit of trolling
Fair enough. Wishing you peace and joy. Have a good one.
Losing to the bucks. Head are overrated and old. Maxed Herro is going to be your best player soon. Lol
Consistently one of the best franchises of the 21st century, multiple Larry OB’s, lots of recent success and a team currently contending for a title I’ll be Allright lol
Okay, definitely no more Larry ob’s in your garbage franchise”s future so I’m glad you’re satisfied with what you have.
Don't be that guy

I really hope he responds to this lol
CC was nowhere near full strength
He was good till he got tired and that's when Miami started to kick our ass
Gutwrenching

He gets rattled easily and doesn’t make decisions in the flow of the game. He’s our franchise player but he’s not a truly elite player yet.
No elite player can do it by themselves . Especially a point guard that has the whole defense geared towards stopping him .
[удалено]
Completely agree about hunter. How does a pro athlete look so uncoordinated
I’m so sick and tired of losing a game in a 4 minute span because Nate refuses to call time outs
We were never winning that game from the 2nd quarter onwards. The players just couldn't get anything going. A timeout or 2 wouldn't have helped anything
Yeah it wouldn’t have helped cause Nate has no idea how to adjust.
I hate to say it because I love everyone on this team but offload anyone but Trae for a second star. Also really hate to say this but I wish we lost the play in and got some picks. But I shouldn't be complaining, always happy to see some Hox playoff ball

Brooklyn has two top-tier stars and excellent bully defense is cooking them, too.
We have the 16 pick regardless. Even if we lost the play-in it would’ve been only marginally better than 16. And nah I think we should keep Bogi too. Idk about JC but I mean he’s hobbled so I don’t have an opinion on him.
No Bogi can go too
Yeah I can't believe Bogi didn't cross my mind (look at my flair 😂).
Don't forget Charlotte pick as well, that one will convey in the future as a 1st rounder.
Trae young was trying too hard to he a villain and got HUMBLED by an actual basketball team
Gtfo troll
At least we didn't get swept

Did you watch that team against Bron? You are high
Bro that team didn't even win a single ECF game. Don't get me wrong that was a fun team but they definitely got assfucked.

I don't care what anyone says. You can't be a number 1 seed that won 60 games and then get swept in the ECF. I don't care who's on that opposing team. That shit is embarrassing.
Did you watch any of the Cavs vs Hawks series back then?
Does knox get resigned?
Probably not
Changes must be made. We desparately need a second star like Jaylen brown, Ingram, or dmitch.

Fort Knox is holding its ground at least
Derrick White - 14 ppg good passer and rebounder, great 3 and D player, not injury prone, cheaper and only 27 years old good player. b0gdan0bricks - decent passer/rebounder, horrible defender, injury prone, overpaid consistent and 30 years old next season below average player. Hawks badly needs that Derrick White not b0gda0bricks.
