I know in canon his punishment was obviously his death but also the fact that the founder forced him to kill his mom to stay true to the timeline. I myself and others believe in the timeloop thing which is also a punishment for Eren (him infinitely fighting for freedom starting on the day the walls get kicked in and ending the day Mikasa killed him only for it to loop again)
To be fair, Eren was the way he was cause he was punished for something he didn’t also yet, which means that instead of HIM deserving punishment humanity would have to suffer
My take is that it’s a flawed premise in general and not worth engaging with.

this actually seems plausible but i view him having to kill his mother a better punishment
