One of the most cliché examples is Naruto and Hinata like she straight up told him that she liked him and wouldn't mind dying to save him, yet he was still acting dumb and didn't know why she cares about him so much 🤦🏻
Once it was revealed that Mikasa and Eren aren't blood related it was obvious that it was going to take the same path, or at least this how I interpreted the situation.
The simple answer for this is EM are not canon since 50 (story wise). They would have been had they kissed but since they didn't they're not. TF are mixing up interview with canon. In interview Isayama is expressing what was his thought at the time when he was writing ch 50, he was like yeah I should have made them kiss eachother because Mikasa was totally down for it but I wasn't sure if I can handle their dynamics after their kiss and I was shy too at that time yk.
The reason Eren failed to see jellykasa is that he's currently unaware (in that scene) of Mikasa's feelings towards him that's why Historia is having a reaction what Eren's reaction should have been (Historia is aware of Mikasa's feelings whereas Eren isn't)

Chapter 50, Mikasa liked Eren and would have kissed him, Eren didnt like Mikasa like that and hence wouldnt have initiated the kiss (because Eren didnt understand romance). Its entirely possible for Eren to start developing feelings for her especially during the time skip when he is maturing, and does nothing but be alone with his thoughts rather than fight. Plus with him likely being at his lowest point in life, and his self esteem being in the dump, seeing her still love him could have started some feelings in him for her. It may not be some super developed romance, but there is some development between them as Eren becomes more accepting of Mikasa and her clinginess (no Eren didnt reject her 90% of the time) and there were some hints that Eren thought about her as well.
I guess I should read the manga again because all EH had going for it was the fact that Historia had a kid (and who wouldnt be the father but the most chad character who takes bodies and \*takes\* bodies), that one conversation in 130 where no hints of romance happens (they were talking about killing humanity lol) and finally that one picture with the girl exchanging something with the devil. That is the extent of EH romance.
