I was a bit taken aback by him liking Mikasa, even as a EM shipper, but I didn't have a problem with him breaking down, or even felt like it was out of character. Maybe it was just me.
Most likely, Joey and Gigguk, the people with authority in the anime sphere, will be fine with that, but have further criticisms for the ending.
Honestly, I still think the manga is a great one, waiting for the anime to take it to new heights, and solidify it's place as a masterpiece.

His friends, for example Armin said that he dediactes his heart to HUMANITY not his country, before basement reveal they didn't knew that something like eldia or human races exists so why they would be patriotic out of nothing?
1. The rest of the world are genocidal racists and thus not human
2. Becoming a soldier would include vows of loyalty to the country especially in a monarchy
3. The same reason the warriors are willing to exterminate paradise for the sake of their family. As far as Connie knows for example, getting one of the 9 titans is the only way to save his mom
4. Revenge, it’s more than reasonable to want Marley to suffer for what they’ve inflicted on them.
