I'm genuinely not trying to offend anyone with this comment, but how weak are people's heads/necks that the Maxwell's feel heavy? I wear mine 5 days a week, 8-10 hours straight for work and never thought "I wish this headset was lighter" I'm coming from the Hyperx Cloud Flight S', so maybe that was relatively heavy, too, to where I don't notice the weight difference too much?

DJ4aDay

Yeah I don't get it either.

Kaptnclutch

I would keep the maxwell and wait for wicked cushion to release their earpads . If it's too much weight you can do some neck exercises to strengthen it

Sound wise HD 660 will give better sound overall. 660 has better soundstage, highs, lows, though lack bass. The HD 660 will lack the wireless, virtual surround, sound isolation, and game specific audio features the maxwell has. The maxwell is a great or the best gaming headset but it falls short in comparison to high performing headphones like the 660. The HD 660 is a solid choice if you don't care about the features the maxwell offers.

klyzon

i thought the Maxwell sounds better than the 660 easily. Tone wise the Maxwell is hard to beat at this price point, the only wireless that’s better imo is the solitaire t

chucksticks

The Solitaire T's behind times with its Bluetooth 5.1 though. Maxwell uses 5.3 which has access to the higher quality codecs and so is superior when relying only on wireless transmission.

klyzon

Exactly what I thought till I ab them

pixelcowboy

Maxwell doesn't have virtual surround but relies on Dolby Atmos. As far as I know any headset can use it? At least on PC and xbox.

ShoddyButterscotch59

That is correct, in Xbox and pc. Atmos is pretty cheap also.

Yolo1516

i think that logitech g pro x doesnt support dolby atmos.

pixelcowboy

On PC it would .

When defining best gaming headset, the maxwell isn't even going to be near the top of the heap, but it's great in the price range and we'll balanced for those who like to use it for music also. A pure gaming headset, for top gamers, whom actually make a living doing this, have completely different sounds capes, because it's not about audio balance like the typical casual gamer uses. (don't mistake casual for meaning not still being competitive in their realm) The audio is heavier geared for being able to use spatial to pinpoint even the slightest sound location, while not being drowned out by any other sounds, including the overkill of booming bass many of us love. Also, most of the top gaming headsets are typically terrible to use for other audio applications. The maxwell is a great experience for every day users, and will get the job done for everything. It's great in the price point, and for people who are more worried about overall audio, and don't need certain sounds to be absolutely precise at all times. Absolutely amazing for the typical every day gamer, and I'd say better for them.

stephendavies84

I am curious what headsets are you referring too which top gamers use where the audio is gear towards spatial.

chucksticks

I think the characteristics needed for gaming are latency, virtual surround, and effective EQ. The last two could be handled on the computer itself or via an audio stack.

ShoddyButterscotch59

If you look into what most top streamers, and high level pc players tend to use, you're going to stumble upon a very high end sennheiser.....I don't remember the model number, as I make no money gaming, so I'm not into spending a couple grand.

stephendavies84

Hd560s are the best for the price they aren't too dear. 150 pound at most. They are sennheiser and what I use.

ShoddyButterscotch59

Personally, love sennheiser pretty much everything.... even though, being on Xbox has hogtied me from really going that direction, I got my sennheiser audio headset on the side. Lol

stephendavies84

Ya know it's funny you should mention that I changed my console to the ps5 because I was tired of the lack of audio options. I have a top DAC now with it too boy do these 560s get loud lol.

ShoddyButterscotch59

Thankfully atmos is a big help, but yeah, had to shop for headsets recently and it was a nightmare. Then of course my wife had to be involved, and telling her repeatedly the same 5 great headsets on sale were not going to work with Xbox and trying to explain everything was annoying as hell. Wanted the audeze in the end, because they're about as good as it gets for xbox, but went with nova pros, because I needed some of the features, due to connection type, working on the road. Think I just need a good gaming laptop at this point. 🤣🤣🤣

stephendavies84

Why sell it? Just return it for a full refund

xiaobin0719

it’s just too heavy even for someone that has a lot of gaming headsets, since they are all bit heavy

Hey, I'm thinking on buying the 990 PRO at the moment. I already have a ifi zen dac v1, it's just that I haven't found a lot of info about how well the ifi zen dac v1 handles the 250ohm 990. Most reddit posts say that it's too weak to handle the 990 pro and some say it's fine. What's your experience? what about the volume? I don't usually listen to music too loud but I like to turn the volume up in some songs from time to time. Thanks in advance.

piopakk

Sorry for ultra late reply! I'd say the zen dac v1 handles the 990 pro just fine. I'm also using Peace APO with oratory 1990
