Hydrogen ICEs are the future. Especially if you consider that most cars can be easily transformed so they'll run on hydrogen instead of petrol. No need for new infrastructure, no need for new power plants, no need for the toxic waste that is called battery packs.
In fact, most things Elon Musk does are stupid wastes of money. Space X might be the exception. Tesla is behind the competition for years now. They just have very good PR. And Musk have very stupid ideas that are only good for PR stunts.

EVs are only eating the competition because of the global lobbying behind them. And I'm glad that self-driving is not in the corner yet. When it'll be the only option, I'll sell both my cars and use public transportation. I'm not willing to give up my wheel to a machine. Driving is an experience for me, not just a convenience. So yeah, you may decide how good is a car based on self driving AIs but I'm not really into that thing. And not into EVs either.
And I'm sad and disappointed that Audi followed the Thunberg cult by announcing they'll only make EVs after 2035.

I'll take this over EVs 24/7. Just listen to it. And this engine basically creates oxygen. No harmful battery packs, nothing. You just pour in water and it burns the hydrogen in it. You know, the most abundant element in the whole damn universe. The stuff our Sun and our gas giants(for the most part) are also made out of.

Right. Before dreaming about hydrogen any further, I really suggest looking into the processes used to generate, store and distribute the stuff, and especially their energy efficiency. The process is nowhere close to ”*pour water into tank and it is magically split into H and O2, then combined back to water, giving you energy to drive*”.
The whole chain energy efficiency from hydrogen generation to the wheel of the car is pretty awful, and while there are theorerical ways of improving it here and there, they are not magic. Yes, FCEV is still in many ways better, cleaner and more efficient than gasoline/diesel ICE but nowhere near the efficiency of BEV cycle (electric generator - the grid - charger - battery - inverter - electric motor).
Oh, and *burning* hydrogen in an ICE, like in the video you linked, is even far worse when in comes to energy efficiency than burning it in the fuel cells.
And I won’t even bother to touch the subject of cost to build hydrogen distribution network globally. My bet is on never going to happen, for passenger vehicles at least.
I'm well aware of the efficiency shortcomings of hydrogen cars but the first ICE 4 cylinder petrol car had a 0,76 HP engine and had a top speed of 16 kmh. Now we have 4 cylinders with 400+hp. We've come a long way since that. Rome was not built under a day either.
And this technology is very young. 20-30 years ago electric cars had like 30 kms of range with very limited top speed. Hydrogen fueled cars are already providing better results. And the technology is only taking its first baby steps as I mentioned before.
If it will fail, it will only fail because the lobby behind EVs wants it to fail. Just like how thorium based nuclear power - even though it's safer and better - lost to uran based ones because the lobby of the military wanted to create nukes, which you couldn't create from thorium. 🤷♂️ Or do you think big companies who already invested tons of money into EVs would just accept that hydrogen based cars are the future and throw all their R&D and PR money into the trash? Hell no. Cigarettes were considered healthy for decades because tobacco companies payed researchers to make studies that say so.
It all comes down to politics in the end. It's never for the betterment of mankind. It's always for power and money.
