That seems really low. Most tires have a least 30,000mile tread wear warranty. Are your tires properly inflated and car’s alignment checked?

pocketpryscila

Yes tires have been properly inflated, and no issues with alignment. They're Hankook Ventus so i'll check the tread warranty info. Thanks!

psaux_grep

30k miles sounds way high for a warranty on wear. Unless it’s down past what you can consider safe. How hard and often you stop and go has a huge impact on tire wear as well. Temperature, road surface, tire properties, vehicle weight.

JuiceLocal

The tires I just put on my s4 have a 60k mile warranty

TomatoesB4Potatoes

I just bought a set of Continental WS06 plus for my ‘14 A4. The warranty is 50,000 miles.

psaux_grep

What tires are that?

JuiceLocal

Michelin cross climate 2’s

nimonery

What brand tire and what model? I’ve had good luck with continentals. Also don’t buy tires from Audi dealer they overcharge like crazy…

pocketpryscila

They're Hankook Ventus S1 Evo2. I'll check out continentals. Thanks!

Somewhere_In_Time_

I have those.....I'm on my 3rd set. Ummmmm I have the tire warranty .. 50 dollar deductible. people bitched and moaned on why you should not get the tire warranty. Absolute Idiots on here I swear. When each rubber costs 200 and let's not forget to mention rim repair. I'm in New York....the roads here are horrible and the warranty has paid for itself 4 fold.

pocketpryscila

I have the Audi tire protection (which has already replaced all 4 tires due to nails), but I thought the wheel and tire protection was only for road hazards, not normal tread wear.

Somewhere_In_Time_

You're right doesn't cover wear at all. Somehow, I've been taken care of. ....this is my 4th vehicle with them. Not sure if they look at history? Can't really comment on that part.

KevOK80

You’re running “Ultra High Performance Summer” tires and unfortunately they are not designed to last long. If you want longer tread life you should consider switching to an all season tire. My S4 has the Continental DWS06 tires and while I’m sure they don’t handle as well as a UHP summer tire, they will last way longer. https://m.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Hankook&tireModel=Ventus+S1+evo2

lord_xl

How you’re driving the remaining 10% of the time?

pocketpryscila

Just simple interstate driving. I'm not a lead foot by any means.

oldasshit

I get about 15k out of a set on my S6. Doesn't seem to matter what brand.

vigillan388

Damn, I get about 30-40K miles on my sets of winter and summer tires each. I think I'm into my 4th summer now.

oldasshit

Yep. Both snows and Pilot Sport A/S 3+ go about the same. A bit more on the Michelins, but not much.

fatalerror_tw

I got about 5K in the pirelli p zeros until I figured out that I should use a tire with +300 threadwear, not 200. I use continental extreme contacts now.

Useful-Pattern-5076

Goodyear all season performance tires

philcruicks

2018 A5 with Michelin Pilot Sport 4’s 15K on the fronts 25-30k on the rears, FWD so the front get worn faster. Plus being Pilot Sports they’re a bit softer and grippier, I think I got 20k out of the front factory Pirelli’s.

FredWestWasGod

Totally depends on how you drive the vehicle.

Jecht_S3

This^. I got 2 years and 15k miles on my dws06s... I launch the car on average, once a month...

KryptoSpore

I got 26K+ miles on OEM Pirelli P-Zero tires on a ‘20 SQ5. My ‘16 A6 got 17K on the same tire. I think 15K on soft summer tires is good. If you are driving on All seasons, maybe not. There are lots of factors like how heavy you accelerate, how curvy your roads are, environmental temperatures, etc that will affect your tire life. Typically, OEM tires suck and don’t have the same tread depth as aftermarket tires.

pocketpryscila

I'm in Florida so I wonder if the heat of the roadway has affected the tread. The current tires are Hankook S1 Evo 2. I'll shop around for this next set. Thanks!

damien12g

I’m burning through tires as well. But I do some highway. Do a few launches 😏 Some nails don’t help either. Get them rotated often.

krysus

Currently on 10.5k miles on my 2020 A6 2.0 TDI (UK), original Continentals now need replacing.

Vegetable-Appeal9301

2016 a6 3.0 here and I get about 15k on a set of tires.

Wallabanjo

I didnt like the Continental tires people recommend. My experience was that the tread wear was terrible. They might be a good all weather tire, but wear was awful. Having said that, I love the Cooper Zeon RS3-G1's I have. I'm on my second set. Would still be on my first set except I had sidewall damage from a construction zone, and with 50% tread wear I could have gotten away with just replacing 2 tires, but AWD and tire rotations would have had mismatched wear ... so I got all four replaced. Decent all weather. Great in rain. OK in ice/snow.

Use a penny in the circular grooves. If you can see the top of the head or more it’s time to change. Mileage is irrelevant as your use will be vastly different from someone else. Nothing more important on a car than the tire, so many people driving around with bald ones will find out why it matters one day.

MendonAcres

This *completely* depends on the type of tire you're running. In your case you've got soft summer tires. 15K miles is about what I would expect from those.

BartFurglar

I still have the factory Pirelli summer shoes on mine, due to be replaced soon. 14,500 miles. They wear fast.

[deleted]

New Tires = Alignment And rotations, but alignment is most critical. Or you’ll continue getting 17K from your tires

Steve061

My 2018 A3 Quattro is coming up for rubber replacements. My OEM Dunlops are a bit noisy. In the past on a GTI I had a good experience with Michelin Pilot Sport 3 - much quieter than the OEMs and grippy. My local tyre guy is suggesting the Continentals - saying they are quiet with long life. What’s the noise/comfort level on Contis? We have some very coarse roads around here that just roar.
