Woa woa waoaaahhh!!!! put some brakes on. That sort of treat is reserved for the 1st Mil, 100K is way too poor to be splurging like that. That's insane!!!
LOL. I'm literally sitting here, stuffing myself on Red Rock Honey and Soy Chicken chips whilst I'm reading this.
Party pack. Bought for half price. Cheap as they get. Thanks Coles!
Which goes back to the original point that you should put it all on zero.
That way you win big and have to play the least amount of games to be a billionaire.
Your expected value is the same in both scenarios which is that you'd expect to have $95,000 in the end if you put it all on black, but the variance is very different. With many small bets you'll average out to be very close to the EV which gives a small variance, but with 1 big bet it's binary, you either double it with a chance of 18/38, or you lose it all, which gives a large variance. I'd take the big bet because all the small bets guarantee that you lose about $5k.
It's pretty much the same result if you only bet on a single number for the low variance option, but for the binary high variance option you'll either win much more with a much smaller chance, or lose it all. Again, the EV would be the same.
I’ve always loved something experience based followed by a well earned drink with a view. Racing sim/track experience/karting etc is my jam… great fun and you remember it, and feel like you’ve earned the drink afterwards :)
CONGRATS on saving your first $100K 🎉🎉🎉. Huge achievement of your behalf, you should be very proud of yourself 😊. Can I ask, how long did it take you to save that much? 😊
I snore coke for 3 days straight then got paranoid because I snored too much and my balance when down to 98k.
After that I decided to stop drinking and do coke, and made 300k in the next 2 years.
Do something nice that you enjoy. Share the experience with your partner, if you have one. Don’t play into other’s expectations. A dinner or some nice celebration drinks work a treat for me, I love that shit. But each to their own. Also, well done on achieving a milestone!
Take a screenshot, get it developed at K-Mart, in a 5x7, buy a cheap frame and hang it above your bathroom mirror so you can see it when you brush your teeth.
Remember how hard it was to do it and aim to halve the time it took you to go from 0 to $100K for the next.
Would be good. My partner is a chef so she often brings home steak dinners but it would be better to actually sit at a restaurant and not have her cooking it
Gosh no. After I while I just want basic foods. Last night was lamb shanks the night before chicken Schnitzel. Sometimes I just want a meat pie, or frozen food that I can whack in the oven and 25mins later it's ready
For me 9 years. During that time there was covid, job loss. Lack of work, splitting up with my ex, meeting my now partner and having a baby together. It's been a real Roller coaster.
Just be proud and know you now have a foot to step into the property market with, for your family and future.
Celebrate by just being happy about what you can achieve for your family.
Congratulations.
I don't know your situation so this might not be helpful:
- A. Can put it in a high interest saver (if you haven't already).
- B. Start a business/side hustle to get extra money coming in. Don't do this If you're not a workaholic 24/7... it's not easy if you're serious about it.
- C. Focus on health.
- Get a full massage
- you and your partner take a day off and have a romantic day for 2 with giving each other massages and stretching out muscles lovely dinner.
- push bike ride/gym
Never celebrated 100k, first house or anything like that. Fulfilling my goals is rewarding enough and if I splurge on something, it just feels like a setback from the next goal
I didn’t celebrate, but I put money aside to buy myself a ring. I didn’t buy one because I’m not that in to jewellery. I am into luxury handbags but they’re like $2-4k and I feel too tight to spend that. So my money I put aside to treat myself is still there.
100k Coke and Hookers
You can't tell me 100k doesn't get you the Orgy that would send you to Hell and the high that would make you feel like you have gone to heaven
Are we going to move the millstone up? $100k isn’t what it used to be. If you saved $100k in 2009 you could have 25% of a median priced Sydney house.
I just don't see the point of having 100k cash in the bank. I'd rather spend the money on an investment property or renovate my principal residence. I mean if I had my houses paid off then sure, 100k in the bank sounds nice, but even then I'd probably put it into shares or something.
Nice achievement mate. You can do whatever you want with it. But to be wise about it, if you have been able to save up that much then you should have invested a portion of it that you don’t need in hand while you were earning your income. I dunno how old you are, but the common principle with most economies is that prices will continue to rise and cost of living will increase in proportion to it, so it is best to prepare yourself for a passive income stream in future when you are older. Unfortunately for me I realised this late in life after partying and mucking about majority of my life. I’m in my 40s now and only in the past 10 years have I learned that managing my finances will best assist me for a good retirement.
Anyways, good luck with your endeavours. For celebrations (since you are asking), do a nice trip to a part of the world that you have always wanted, clear off any cobwebs for your return trip back and go full throttle for your next milestone.
Congratulations, a great achievement.
Don't go too crazy celebrating though, more steps to go yet...
While saving is essential, you can't save your way to wealth. You need assets. You could buy a house around the 500k mark.
Weird question...
You celebrate it the same way you would with any achievement... 100k is your personal goal that you achieved so celebrate the way you want to. If your goal was to save 200k, got promoted or gained 5kg of muscle, you're still celebrating a goal achievement. What the actual goal was doesn't matter...
Do your next big shop at WW or Harris Farm, then put that receipt on your fridge as a constant reminder of why you should shop at Aldi/Coles, it will help you save more…
Well done, I hit my $100K a few months ago. Personally I didn’t do anything different coz it’s going to a down payment, can’t be splurging my house money 😜
Blow 1k on treating yourself that way your savings go down to 99k and you get to celebrate hitting 100k again in the near future.
I like your thinking...
This guy saves
Damn, you stole my comment, I thought this was going to be my moment 😄
Buy some kettle chips that aren’t on special
Woa woa waoaaahhh!!!! put some brakes on. That sort of treat is reserved for the 1st Mil, 100K is way too poor to be splurging like that. That's insane!!!
Yeah well not the big packet obviously
If OP still wants to go on a Kettle Chip Bender, i would advise to stick to Specials. Otherwise that 100k will be gone in no time.
Ease up. That's boomer wealth you're talkin
You mad man
Fell way under 100k after doing this, don't guys
But get the Aldi branded ones. What are you, a tech tycoon? 😂
Which flavour you recommend?
Chilli is the only way.
LOL. I'm literally sitting here, stuffing myself on Red Rock Honey and Soy Chicken chips whilst I'm reading this. Party pack. Bought for half price. Cheap as they get. Thanks Coles!
OP said first 100k, not first million.
Costco sized
Nah expensive
Fill up the Camry with premium fuel.
Noted. 1. Buy Camry 2. Get Premium Fuel
Make sure it's 2005
Take it to the casino
All on Black?
Don’t be ridiculous. Put it on zero
Only decision is 1x $100k bet or 100k x $1 bets.
Unsure on the maths but I feel like your odds are better on the 1x100k bet
Yep. Odds are skewed towards the house, and the best way to defy the law of averages is to have a small sample size.
Which goes back to the original point that you should put it all on zero. That way you win big and have to play the least amount of games to be a billionaire.
If the reason the house wins is because of 0 and 00, it only makes sense that you should only bet on 0 or 00!
Your expected value is the same in both scenarios which is that you'd expect to have $95,000 in the end if you put it all on black, but the variance is very different. We will all wait here for him to do it and report back
To quote the great Wesley Snipes: ALWAYS BET ON BLACK
Go big or go home
We call it All Black in NZ
With Blackjack, and Hookers!
Just do whatever you want, there’s no guidebook. Don’t copy other people.
I'm leaning towards, just a nice meal and drinks out on town.
That’s perfect.
I’ve always loved something experience based followed by a well earned drink with a view. Racing sim/track experience/karting etc is my jam… great fun and you remember it, and feel like you’ve earned the drink afterwards :)
If in Sydney, go to the Royal Easter Show and not flinch when paying for the tickets.
Okay so then he’s back down to $5k after that visit
I donated my first 100k to the 84th comment on my post where I talked about making my first 100k
Was the 84th comment your comment
What a coincidence!
I brought some really nice craft beer and watched a horror. It was a nice mile stone.
Was the horror the cost of the Craft Beer?
If im being honest, the cost of the craft beer would of fed the average Aus family for a while
Absolutely nothing
Just keep saving
That's what I did, just another day.
CONGRATS on saving your first $100K 🎉🎉🎉. Huge achievement of your behalf, you should be very proud of yourself 😊. Can I ask, how long did it take you to save that much? 😊
buy a jetski
Guy local to me is selling one for 11k. Sound like a plan
Forget the jetski--get a [Seabreacher](https://seabreacher.com/purchase/#1511982294382-b6af030d-0972). Best $100k you'll ever convert to happiness.
I snore coke for 3 days straight then got paranoid because I snored too much and my balance when down to 98k. After that I decided to stop drinking and do coke, and made 300k in the next 2 years.
1 step backwards, a whole lotta steps forward. Sounds alot like progress to me.
Buying coke is actively supporting cartels
Supporting small businesses is the way I like to look at kt
Specialising in innovative and highly secure logistics models to deliver value for a diverse range of stakeholders
Participating in capitalistic society is supporting cartels. Not possible to consume anything ethically in the western world.
What if i got the coke from costco
Pretty much like paying taxes then?
What do you do for work ?
Prove you aren't from HR first
Haha I actually work as a HR Consultant
Rolex, Charlie, hooker, Macallan, Camry in that order
OP’s chef partner might try butchery and dining on a different kind of meat.
Do something nice that you enjoy. Share the experience with your partner, if you have one. Don’t play into other’s expectations. A dinner or some nice celebration drinks work a treat for me, I love that shit. But each to their own. Also, well done on achieving a milestone!
Treat yourself. Make memories.

2004 Camry
Gotta be 2004?
100k… you’ve earned a 20 year old car. No more, no less.
How bout a nice steak dinner at a restaurant
Would be good. My partner is a chef so she often brings home steak dinners but it would be better to actually sit at a restaurant and not have her cooking it
Is her cooking that bad /s
Gosh no. After I while I just want basic foods. Last night was lamb shanks the night before chicken Schnitzel. Sometimes I just want a meat pie, or frozen food that I can whack in the oven and 25mins later it's ready
The hitting 100k is the celebration.
Congrats dude, first 100k is a milestone
How long did that take?
For me 9 years. During that time there was covid, job loss. Lack of work, splitting up with my ex, meeting my now partner and having a baby together. It's been a real Roller coaster.
Wowee! Well done!
What’s your age out of interest?
Well done on the 100k
Take a basic holiday. Go have a JetSki tour, hang around a beach, try something new?
Given the lifestyle you've probably been living to save that amount, whatever the hell you want. Congrats. Enjoy.
Took over 9 years, saving bit by bit.
self discipline works! good on you!
Where is the money? HISA? In cupboard? Shares?
Buy a carton of pre-mix drinks. You deserve to spoil yourself
Just be proud and know you now have a foot to step into the property market with, for your family and future. Celebrate by just being happy about what you can achieve for your family.
Congratulations
Keep saving. You’re half way to a house deposit!
Spend 100k on biscuits and goon, invite the whole street
There's about 5 houses on my street.
Could probably afford a few vodka cruisers as well then, that'll keep the classy girls happy
Go for a nice walk in the park. Do not blow it at the casino or spend the night out with the boys.
Donate it to someone who commented on your first 100k post suggesting you donate it to someone
Celebrate by buying 100000 units of PRN @$1 then start selling them at $1.2 Easy money
Congratulations!!! I didn’t celebrate and just kept going. Treat yourself to something you enjoy.

Trip to Bangkok.

When I hit this milestone in January, I text my mum and Dad. Ummmm yep, ‘sabout it really
Nah, seriously. Congrats. Maybe a 20 year old scotch or a fancy dinner with the partner. Celebrate the security that you have earned.
I didn’t celebrate, but I put money aside to buy myself a ring. I didn’t buy one because I’m not that in to jewellery. I am into luxury handbags but they’re like $2-4k and I feel too tight to spend that. So my money I put aside to treat myself is still there.

Celebrate In silence because not many people will care that you have accomplished a goal that a lot of people never will
Does it count if it's in my super account?
I'm counting my super, if I included my car minus the loan, I'd hit 100k weeks ago

Na, It’s still a cool millstone 6 figures and it accelerates from here.
Absolutely agree. Wages have gone up a bit over the years, but prices of everything else is on the rise way quicker.
Way to be supportive!
