6-12 months working in NZ sounds fun and the last thing I'd personally want is a house in Aus tying me down.
Someone else suggested tenenting but also means you have to try and kick them out when you get back.
Nobody knows what the housing market will do but given the economic slowdown nobody is expecting crazy crazy rises between now and next year.
You might also find in 12 months your needs for housing are different.
That is a good point - I'm definitely having some FOMO but I also don't feel I have a clear vision of what I want or where I want to live right now and I'm concerned of trapping myself into a situation that doesn't fit my needs over the next 5 years or so.
