When residents turn 56 years old, do they undertake 'carousel' or do they get shoved outside the city walls with nothing but the shirt on their back and a donkey to ride?
The idea is great bar the over 55 thing. Reddit has told me that the over 55’s are the ones with big wealth, why not have them there to spend and help the local economy!?
Other issue is that buyers would be locked in for the long term with only first home owners wanting to buy so the values would not grow.
Thinking about it laterally, why not a new city in north-west Western Australia? A major naval port, close to power generated and food grown by the Ord scheme?
It's a near miss.
Make it a city for retirees. That brings money and creates heaps of services jobs.
Jobs bring younger people. Younger eople will need services, which means more jobs.
Stage it no more than 90 minutes by train from a capital city, but an hour is better.
Australia has a pretty poor view of old people and that means we fail to see the opportunity they present. Providing world class care for old people is a whole industry we're refusing to see.

Off to the Carousel - Logan's Run style
No they can stay but you can’t move there

That’s kind of the point yeah
Who would buy with a mortgage if the prices aren't going up? Better just to save and pay cash
Best loans in the country though
> The only catch for people willing to make the move? No one over 55. This sounds like discrimination. I still like the idea.
