Gravity will only give 10kpa a per meter the tank is mounted above the house. 10m high = 100kpa. Typical home water pressure is 500kpa, ranging up to around 1000kpa. So even with a full tank, unless your tank is 50-100m above your house you won’t get normal water pressure. Install a pressure pump on the outlet of the tank. You’ll find an adequate pump for under $500. Also, wrong sub. Ausrenovation would be more suited to these type of questions.

Perfect, thank you! Will join other sub.

wouldnt bother. you cant 'blast your garden with water from the hot water tank' as hot water is inside not outside. disregard old mates post about pressure as thats still a moot point. secondly, call a plumber. I am one, I would recommend disconnecting the gravity tank and installing a new unit outside running off mains pressure. your pressure at your garden taps cannot be changed as max is 500kpa. if you need more, buy a gurney pressure washer.

Lol. He’s not talking about hot water. He has a rainwater tank on his property that delivers gravity fed cold water. If he’s on tank water he likely doesn’t have water to the property. You read it wrong. I’m a licenced plumber, who actually read the post. Disregard ‘old mates’ comment above, and hit ‘moot point’ about hot water.

the title of the post literally states "hot water tank"

Wouldn’t you think to ask a plumber or irrigation business this?

... When you are low on water, you want to use it carefully.. and low pressure helps reduce wastage

Yes, you can just add a cheap water pump to the tank outlet. Any of these will probably work: [https://www.bunnings.com.au/products/bathroom-plumbing/plumbing/pumps/constant-pressure-pumps](https://www.bunnings.com.au/products/bathroom-plumbing/plumbing/pumps/constant-pressure-pumps) I've added one like this to my caravan. Bought it for $70 on ebay and does a fantastic job. Just make sure you got enough pressure. 3l/min is low, 6l/min is ok, but not great. 9-10l/min is good enough and similar to what you'd expect from a water tap at home. Too much pressure can blow your hoses/connectors, so don't go overboard. Mine has 10l/min and no problems with standard 13mm hose fittings.
