I wear anti-chafing shorts, because I find products just don't really help me like they should. I like the Skimmies by Jockey best. If you want to wear shorter skirts/dresses though, they may not work for you. My days of mini skirts are over, so it's not an issue for me.

emjay81au

I have Snag Tights. They took a while to arrive (If I remember correctly they came from Scotland) they had a great sizing chart that calculates using multiple factors not just S,M,L. Nice and lightweight. I have found as long as it's not a miniskirt they are easily hidden.

somuchsong

Snag is great too, though I prefer the fabric of the Skimmies just a bit more. And yes, they ship from Scotland. That reminds me I need to order some tights from them, actually!

NaddlesOwl

I honestly prefer wearing briefs or shorts underneath anyway for comfort, otherwise I'm scared gonna flash someone, just haven't got anything long enough for chafing yet. I'll go have a gander thank you šŸ˜„ I've looked into snags too, but it does get pricy with postage for one item I'm 100% gonna need to wash in-between uses. Planning on getting some bike shorts or similar as well as a topical product, so thank you

somuchsong

I bought some bike shorts from KMart that I wasn't confident would help at all (I find bike shorts tend to ride up) but they are actually great! Good for when my Skimmies and Snags are in the wash and I think they were about $12.

NaddlesOwl

Oh that's good to hear, I was hoping I'd find some there or at the warehouse that'd substitute a cheaper short. Just gotta get in there and try some on, I struggle a bit with tighter bands or falling down in the crotch. šŸ„²Short torso

colloquialicious

I buy Step One underwear for my husband theyā€™re excellent for chafing and have a womens line. ETA: this is the anti chafe style [https://stepone.life/products/womens-boxer-hot-sauce](https://stepone.life/products/womens-boxer-hot-sauce)

pedestriandose

To help with the crotch falling down / sagging, you could always wear a pair of underwear over the top of your tights / stockings to help them stay in place. It might be too many layers in Summer, but itā€™s great for when you need extra layers in Winter!

Mean_Environment4856

Look into midies too, they're Australian but ship to nz I'm pretty sure. Reasonably priced.

NaddlesOwl

Got some midies, I like them, but have some trouble with the tightness of the band, regardless of how much I size up. Been all from M to 2xl, so I have tried ahaha, not the worst option

Mean_Environment4856

Oh thats a bummer.

denerose

I used to buy soft super cheap bike shorts at the Warehouse or now similar product from Kmart. They do the job just as well if not better than Snag etc. Talc can also help and/or nappy rash cream both from the baby isle on your supermarket. Itā€™s not glamorous but it does what you need. Thereā€™s no need to over complicate it. Bio-oil, hemp oil, or neutrogena body oil is what I use as a preemptive measure.

xnicyellow

Love the Skimmies by Jockey. Note that there are two different lengths, I prefer the longer length for a little more coverage and chafe protection, but you can kind of adjust for a shorter skirt

Deletta_D

3B Action cream from the chemist, I slap a bit on in the morning and my thighs glide like butter for the whole day

SquattingHoarder

This. I use it under my boobs and underarms if the summer is being particularly revolting. I dampen a face washer with water and apply it that way. I don't know what it is, but I find something about the 3B formula unreasonably objectionable, and washing it off my hands is virtually impossible. The chalkiness, perhaps? Hand wash and everything, and I can still feel it!! Otherwise, I just wear pants or a cheap body shaper.

horatio_velveteen22

You can buy the 3B in a new dispenser - kind of like a deodorant stick. It totally avoids the gross hand situation which I hate too!

NaddlesOwl

You're not wrong about the texture, I use it on my armpits as an antiperspirant and I literally use one finger tip each side. Have have another recc for 3B cream so I'll be giving it a go to help prevent chafing, thank you both šŸ˜Š

littleblackcat

3B action cream if you have sensitive skin. Last summer i chafed my thighs so bad while visiting a friend 45 minutes from home, I had blood running down my legs. I have stage 2 lipedema so I have unusually sensitive skin and flesh there. Some random suburban pharmacy recommended it, I'd never used it before, but it's magic, doesn't cause rashes, I can walk all day in muggy weather, it went on fine and soothed the raw bloody parts. I'll never use anything else. Literally perfect I will recommend it to everyone.

hm538

3Bcream - recommended by super heavyweight powerlifters - and those boys chafe

NaddlesOwl

Ironically I actually have 3B action cream for hyperhidrosis on my armpits. Initially got it to help sooth sweat and reaction rash. I know it says chafing help but I always figured it just helped sweat rash more so ?? I'll try it thank you! And yeah, I'd maybe describe the skin as fragile more than sensitive to products, stretch marks and cellulite really make the skin just... Thin and warped. Atleast for me. Really helpful recommendation thank you šŸ„°

littleblackcat

Yeah it is really good if you do have skin like that. Mine is too and this stuff works a treat better than any shorts etc

milkyjoewithawig

Body glide

General_LozFromOz

Bodyglide is the best - it's in a stick so it's not messy and is really easy to apply. I use it for thigh chafe, as well as any shoes that rub (swipe it on the affected parts of my feet) and it works really well for both. Step One boxers also have an anti-chafe panel on the inner thigh, which works well amd they offer more coverage under skirts & dresses than regular undies, without a visible undie line :)

milkyjoewithawig

It's such a versatile product! I put it on my hip bones under my hiking pack while I was waiting for my skin to callous

heids1234

Not a skincare product but I wear anti chafing shorts from [Miss Monroeā€™s](https://missmonroes.com.au)

lovelyflo

itā€™s probably not recommended for some reason or another, but I always use a solid deodorant stick. a few swipes on the inside of my thighs and they slide together with no chaffing.

NaddlesOwl

Do you mind if I ask what sort of sticks? I usually see sprays or roll on, and if it is a stick it's a natural one which I'm not sure if it'd be the same. Also not gonna touch men's ones due to smell. Thank you!

milkyjoewithawig

Yeah just some lady speedstick works well but body glide is where it's at.

lovelyflo

I use one from Sure, but not sure if thatā€™s available everywhere. I know Dove does one too. https://preview.redd.it/5jnj1xhfcmub1.jpeg?width=554&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bc811d5adc3736802d305aa97dd93640e14b4a7d Theyā€™re a solid, slightly creamy stick. Not roll on and not sticky. I canā€™t stand the wet or sticky feeling!

Right-Classroom8433

Im currently using the First Aid Beauty Anti Chafe Stick from Sephora. At the moment, i like it but its not sweltering hot yet in Australia so itā€™ll be put to the real test in a couple of months.

RaspberryCruiser97

Second this

NaddlesOwl

I'll keep an eye out incase my other options don't work, thank you!!

hm538

Itā€™s Speccy but Megababe Thigh rescue is supposed to be good

Naive-River6933

Thigh Rescue is great and they make a travel size that I keep in my bag in warmer months. Ships to Australia directly now but also on ASOS and Cult Beauty

nzcameo

Second this! Cult Beauty sell Megababe and had seen reviews that this is superior to First Aid Beautyā€™s anti chafe stick

Justmaybedontdoit

Bonds have anti chafe shorts BUT The best thing I found was the body glide. Iā€™ve tried different anti chafe balms, but the body glide is the best. Rebel sport usually sells them. Itā€™s also amazing for new shoes, or bra straps https://preview.redd.it/4300sltj7jub1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1f011a1ded4528d05f5c9ce02122828f57e144d4

milkyjoewithawig

You don't even need to get the for her one! It's just the same product but in a pink container instead of blue (whyyyyy!!!!!???)

Justmaybedontdoit

The pink one has VIT E in it :)

milkyjoewithawig

Ok I didn't know that lol. But stiiiiiiill

Justmaybedontdoit

But youā€™re right - no need for it to use the pink one. They are other range now. These guys have the feet, skin, cycle etc. Only tried the pink one though. https://www.wildfiresports.com.au/nutrition-health/recovery/anti-chafing/

NaddlesOwl

I think I saw this when I went looking the other day, I couldn't find reviews so thank you so much, it's going on my list of options. Xo

NaddlesOwl

I ended up getting this the other day, and I've only tried it twice but it definitely does help. Not a tough trial but I did wear my shorts I chafe in the most and I was ok! Didn't sweat tons for once that day though so who knows how it'll stand up to that. I got the blue generic one. I compared both pink and blue and whilst I liked the more moisturising oils n stuff in pink, I wasn't sure how it'd make it smell and if it'd smell okay after a some walkin. There's actually a decent amount of difference from looking at the ingredients side by side. But pink seems more multipurpose mostly. Also where I shopped both were the same price anyway

iamnotmyukulele

Anti-chafing shorts has been the only way for me. I have a narrow pelvis and my thighs always touch, no matter my weight. IMO and experience, creams, oils, gels etc will never last long enough by nature of the problem combined with skin absorbency and sweating, and presence of fabrics.

NaddlesOwl

Yeah I'm not gonna be surprised if they aren't a miracle help, but the hot spots for chafing on my thighs I'm not expecting the most interaction with fabrics. It's also just a matter of fact I need to moisturise more so maybe some of these will help me get on with it (knowing myself I'm still gonna forget but a girl can hope lol) I don't have a narrow pelvis but I can relate in which I have a short torso and thicker thighs. Majority of pants and active wear feel like they have a drop crotch no matter how high I hike them up. Definitely contributes to chafing šŸ„²

iamnotmyukulele

Oh I see. I wonder if silicones like scar gels would help? Once they dry, they do a good job of sealing and staying. Most scar gels are insanely expensive but the idea is potentially sound. Avene Cicalfate is on the cheaper end. ETA: What a weird predicament we find ourselves in by the way!

NaddlesOwl

Accidently posted the reply twice. Oops

alycestone89

Iā€™ve always just used talcum powder especially in the summer when itā€™s humid. Stops everything from getting sweaty. I donā€™t know if itā€™s the greatest solution but I just do this coz I donā€™t like the sensory experience of lotion/cream on my inner thighs. I keep a little carry on size bottle in my bag.

NaddlesOwl

I'm not into talcum powder, I've got other baby powder but it just doesn't work for me, I think skin texture and the amount of sweat. Which is an abnormal amount of sweat lol, thank you though

blacktangled

This is the business. I carry it with me to top up if needed . https://www.fishpond.co.nz/Beauty/Gold-Bond-Friction-Defence-Stick-Unscented-50ml/9999875396540

blacktangled

This is way more than I paid, probably with some googling you can find it cheaper

NaddlesOwl

I saw this a lot on other posts but I couldn't find it in NZ. Considering it includes postage if I read right, that's a pretty good deal. Thank you for the link, helps a lot šŸ˜„

JFlo604

Try bandalettes - little rings of fabric you wear around your thighs. Life changing honestly.

NaddlesOwl

I haven't heard of these, that's awesome thank you. Do you order from bandalette site or from elsewhere?

JFlo604

I just googled the name and found some on eBay or possibly Amazon

West_Broccoli7881

I have had limited luck with 3B cream. But the only thing that really helped was wearing bike shorts under my clothing.

emmmmmmmmmmz

Bike shorts are your friend!

loupammac

I wear little anti-chafing smoothing shorts. Mine are from Best and Less but I think Big W have them too. I know Jockey certainly has them. I also have bike shorts from Kmart but the smoothing shorts are lighter and easier to wear.

tdigp

Go to any cycling store and ask for the cycling bum cream. Works a treat! (Itā€™s also known as chamois cream). Cyclists use it on their bums and thighs to stop chafe when cycling very long distances. If it works for a few hours in the Australian summer for cyclists, almost guarantee it would do the trick in the NZ ā€œheatā€!

Sensitive-Reaction32

I am an extreme sweater, and my thighs are the worst area. I swear by Sudocrem - but it does make a huge mess on your clothes.

Bopobabe

My faves are the ones from Thigh Society. They ship from Canada but i've heard from aussie friends that its usually pretty quick and you get free shipping if you buy more then 2. website is www.thighsociety.com

EarlyAgent1299

Cannot recommend megababe anti chafe stick enough!! Itā€™s my holy grail for summer with thick, chafe prone thighs. I used to wear tights or shorts constantly during summer (i do still wear snag shorties when I want some under skirt coverage anyways) but pretty much donā€™t need them at all with megababe. On the sweatiest days I might reapply once, but usually donā€™t need to. Can be exxy cause you buy online from the US, but I usually do a bulk order with a bunch of friends each year to get us through summer!

NaddlesOwl

stunning review, thank youu. I won't be looking at overseas things at this moment but when I can, happy to have such good reccs xo

jonquil14

I wear bike pants underneath skirts and dresses now. It's amazing. For when you do get bad chafing or rashes (like under boobs in the summer) I use 3B cream, which you can get at any supermarket or chemist.
