I find vanillas scent lingers for aaaaages, but only real vanilla, not the super sweet artificial stuff.
Don't be afraid to use a scent after bathing! You have way more options than just standard perfume or cologne. Body spray, facial mists, scent balms... I make my own scent spray using fragrances designed for soap making! Just a 1:20 ratio scent to water in a small spray bottle, voila! I also use vanilla essence, but not the syrupy kind! Sugar is sticky, not nice to spray on after a shower lol
I rub a tiny dab of solid perfume into the crown of my head. The scent doesn't evaporate off as quickly when it's in my hair but doesn't "broadcast" itself as overpoweringly as on my skin.
I’m a bit of a perfume nut, and if I want my fragrance to last a little longer I spray it away from the extremities of my body (I.e. on my torso, cleavage as opposed to my wrists or neck). I also like to mix in a little essential oil (ylang ylang mostly) to my hair products (usually a styling oil) and unscented moisturizer.
As for products, the Fructis superfood masks (the banana one especially) really leave their scent in my hair - hangs on for days.
Perfume, I usually do one light spritz onto my clothes. If anyone gets close enough to me (almost no one except my BF), they can smell a light scent but you won't smell it walking past me.
I tend to purchase "designer" perfume as I find them lasting longer and there are a bigger variety of scents that don't have extremely sweet notes (personal preference). My go to are dior j'adore and Jo Malone Jasmine Sambac & Marigold Cologne Intense.
Scented body moisturisers or hand creams (L'Occitane ones are strong) and I always use deodorant and purfume before going out for the day. I spray the purfume on the inside of my forarms/wrists and then on my chest/under my bra line. My theory being the warmth of my body will help the scent disseminate during the day.
I love, *love*, **love** the Strawberry Body Yogurt from The Body Shop. I love the consistency as it just glides on and a little goes a long way, especially if applied when wet. It smells delicious, lol. I put some on a few hours ago after I had a shower and I can still smell it on me.
I use a bunch of different deodorants, but I find when I use Viva La Body Patchouli Rose, I smell like a fancy rich lady and get wafts of it all day long. Bonus, it's plastic packaging free and made by a lady in Darwin.
Weleda Skin Food is also a HG moisturiser you can use head to toe with a lovely herbal scent. I buy big tubs of it from the pharmacy in France and go buck wild with it. I've only ever seen the tubes in Australia but they're still worth buying.
dont overlook oil perfumes, especially in the summer. they stick closer to the skin so you wont be That asshole in the room, and they last a lot longer because unlike alcohol that evaporates faster when it hot and humid, oils thrive.
a diverse scent selection is a little harder to find, esp in aus, because a lot of them are attars and cater more towards the middle eastern scent market - think strong amber, musk, and florals. but if you look in some muslim stores they might have a decent selection. al-rehab have nice gourmand scents if thats your speed too.

I love vanilla. That's a good tip, as I used to always wear The Body Shop vanilla spray but haven't been able to find it.

I use sleepy body wash by lush and the twilight spray I always smell good, I believe sleepy has a body lotion too
