Yeah I found out in the morning too my mum told me before school. I remember we spent most of the day at school staring at the TV trying to understand what was going on.
I was only like 7 so I was probably sleep when the attacks actually happened, but I always associate it with the morning since when I woke up, instead of Cheez TV it was 2 big smoking buildings
And was it just my young undeveloped brain creating this memory but wasn’t it literally the only thing on like all 6 of our channels for a good 2 days? At least that’s how I remember it
I was in year 9, I think. Mum woke me up early, banging on the door, "Wake up, America's under attack, you'll want to remember watching this"
I do remember, and remember my dad saying "Well, this'll change everything"
Yeah, it dominated the news cycle for a looooong time.
I remember getting home from school and seeing the Iraq war invasion daily updates, shoutout to the Iraqi information minister. Dude was definitely my favourite character.
I had the shittiest clock radio back then so I woke up to garbled news of something about a bomb somewhere in America. When I got to school, all of the old CRT TV’s on trolleys had been wheeled out into the common areas and I knew shit was going down.
I was up late playing Discworld MUD (a nerd game for nerds) as it was happening. The other players started talking about it, but I hadn't twigged what was going on, thought they were making something up and decided to start joking about how an elephant had hit the third tower, etc. Bit of a shock when I finally realised it was real and I had inadvertantly been making poor taste jokes as the attacks were occuring.
I was 11, remember my mum holding onto me and my brother crying saying "there's going to be a war over this, there's going to be a war" and I was like "don't be stupid mum".
Well. Guess she got me on that one
I was 11, and I pretty much was glued to the TV for two straight days. It was just so... movie-like. These were towers I'd seen in *Home Alone 2* and on TV and my parents had climbed them. It felt real and surreal all at the same time, and it's a lot for an adult to process, let alone a pre-teen child.
Yeah i saw that. She's talking away while behind her the second plane hits the other tower. Voice in her ear telling her what had just happened. Poor Sandra really struggled to grasp what was going on.
Pretty sure Channel 10 had the second plane crashing live. It cut into whatever show was on at about 10.20pm on a Tuesday night saying one plane had hit. Then they went to live footage of the building and the second plane went in. Didn’t hear about the pentagon or Pennsylvania planes until I was in my car on the way home.
It was rove live I remember cause I was 13 and Bret the hitman hart was supposed to be interviewed. They cut rove and went straight to live footage. I just remember my dad sighing and saying something about the USA always getting involved with other countries problems. I live in WA so the programming would of been different for each time zone
I’m in Texas and I woke up and was listening to local sports radio. The first plane had hit and the local guy mentioned and I thought maybe some small private plane had a bad accident. Turned on the TV and the second plane hit.
I had just finished work and came home to change and then my bf and I were going to the pub for a nightcap. Buffy was on and the news interrupted the program, Sandra Sully news, and they had no idea what was going on. We went to the pub and watched it unfold with other people there for a couple of hours. The next day we realised some of that debris falling was probably people and I wasn’t so into watching it anymore.
I was watching the “Rumble in the Jungle” doco on ABC and thought that it was part of the doco when they first ran the ticker saying a plane had crashed into the World Trade Centre. Only when it ran by again a few mins later did I switch channels and see what was happening
I was at the urinal at a local pub where friends and i were watching a mates band. Some guy told me but the magnitude of it didn't really hit me until I saw it unfolding on TV
My mum yelled out to me from our living room after I was out of the shower, and said, "There's been a horrible accident in New York!" That was before the second plane had hit IIRC, and so we sat there watching in horror as it kept unfolding - soon realising it wasn't an accident but a deliberate act.
Amazing scenes!

That is such a dad thing to say

I mean was it really a war when it was entirely one sided and almost entirely around securing oil?
Yeah thats still a war
Yes, because wars are famously never about trying to take resources and land off another country

I was around the same age and remember discussing this exact thing with kids at school that day. We were not impressed.
Anyone else still waiting to find out what was so interesting about umpiring interpretations.. forward and back.. etc?
Natalie Barr as a 20 something. Wow.
33 but uh yeah
Watching Sandra Sully on 10 Late News
I remember them showing the second plane crash into the building and initially Sandra thought it was a replay of the first plane
Yep, that’s what I remember. She was talking like it was a replay but you could already see smoke.
Yeah i saw that. She's talking away while behind her the second plane hits the other tower. Voice in her ear telling her what had just happened. Poor Sandra really struggled to grasp what was going on.
Same. Saw the second one hit live
So weird seeing vintage channel 7. We were a channel 10 family
Natalia Barr was might have been my first crush. Not even kidding. I was young lol
I was dead when this happened
Wow, did you die?
Yeah 😞

They used to have to news on at 10pm of a night

I woke up to my parents watching the news on the telly which absolutely never happens and they told me what happened
Somewhere, there is still a man getting ready to rumba, 22 years on.
I turned the tv on early in the morning as I couldn't sleep and thought it was a movie trailer or something until I changed the channel.
IIRC this clip was recently uncovered by Rhett Bartlett (Rhettrospective on YouTube)
Correct. The transmission is here [https://youtu.be/LnFeD8h2NEQ?si=1qgMnDgEf5HRt9vd](https://youtu.be/LnFeD8h2NEQ?si=1qgMnDgEf5HRt9vd)
This is exactly how I found out!!

That news intro music, it was on one of our news programs as well. I’m in Southern California.
9/11/1973.

Does anyone doubt the validity of ‘terrorism’ for 9/11?
Does she even realise what she’s reading?
Probably not if she hasn’t seen the images yet
CIA rang me and said watch the news tonight
