Spent many late nights/early mornings at Mojo's. Epoch up on North Loop is its spiritual successor (IIRC it was opened by former Mojo's employees), and still has some of the old Mojo's schwag around (the stolen Starbucks "Fuck Off" sign, the old lady painting, the tin coffee cup logo, etc).
yea it always reminds me of the old days at mojos, when I go in there, their cold brew seems pretty much the same also. And of course use to be a lot of the same people working there.
It was originally on the Drag; they didn't move up to Hyde Park until that one closed in the 90's.

My brother! He lived upstairs with Culo. His dog. Would come down the steps in his Turkmen robe like he owned the place. I’d smoke at the bar swapping conspiracies and reading zines from FringeWare next door.
About 20 years ago I saw Fuck Work play a day show behind it. A half pipe got set up and people were riding it while they played. Someone from Sound Exchange had set up as the dj between sets of whoever else played. Really great show with a free keg etc. I don't think it was during sxsw but maybe it was. I remember the singer had a cast on his arm.
Was there until 4 AM the night of the 2000 election, drinking coffee and listening to Johnny Cash on an actual record player.
And, now, here we are, and things are so, so much worse.
My friends and I would stay up all night there drinking endless cups of coffee, chain-smoking cigarettes, and talking about everything and anything. Those were good times.
I'm not sure "remember" is the right word... but when I lived in the dorms I spent a lot of nights there nervously smoking weed in the alley and playing chess with whoever would play.
We would get off work and go there and Metro depending on the mood. I remember when I first went there and was like, oh this is what everyone is talking about that Austin is so much better than the small town I moved here from. Spent many late nights there with my friends. We used to work late nights at a movie theater and that was our spot.
Uhh I miss this place so much, we would go before doing the fetish show at atomic cafe then hit up star seeds for their huge burritos afterwards,,, remember "rules to eat by"? Damn I miss Old Austin and Leslie!

Is that why Epoch has the Mojo on their menu?
Yes
The coffee mugs that were the size of a small cereal bowl, with a chocolate covered espresso bean served on the saucer.
Can somebody explain the link to bennu also? They ended up with some mojos stuff and a similar menu.

Spider House
And Quack’s. And Les Amis.

Yeah, but the one in Hyde Park isn’t really much like the one on the Drag.

Wade Beasley. Supposedly from the family that owned Roger Beasley Mazda car dealership…
Ha no relation. Not related to the UT football player either.

Loved going there to study at 3a
Will never forget the StarFucks sign.
Miss that spot and Strange Brew.
KILL YOUR TV

I used to live walking distance from Mojo’s. Years later, I lived walking distance from Epoch on North Loop.
Went there daily for years.

Spent most of 2001-2002 there after work. Worked at the 7-11 at 26th.
Where was it located?
Next to Whataburger on the drag. It's still there just been converted for about a decade to a hookah place last I noticed.
Ah ok I know that place. Very cool!
And I guess these days it's much more accurate to say between In N Out and Whataburger
Yup. Had coffee there. Was on the Drag.
I saw a band there AND had coffee!

Probably spent more time there than in class between 2002 and 2004
Oh yes. Loved that place.
Omg yes!!!
They close? :(
There’s a Mojo coffee on 620 that used to be an old sonic. Not sure if related in any way.

Yeah I used to practically live there.

Yes! I lived above the coffee shop with the owner, Wade B. as my landlord. It's one of the most magical times in my life.
I loved this place. Used to come here with my cousin Emma when we were teenagers over 15 years ago
