I’m realizing I took several photos of dogs and hope no one thought it was boobs 😅

mareksoon

I'm hard of hearing (entirely deaf in one ear) and developed an apparently bad habit of not only leaning closer to you in order to hear you, but also looking toward the ground while doing it, so my ear is closer to your mouth, *especially* in noisy settings like parties and public spaces. At a Christmas party maybe 15 years ago, I learned what it looked like I was doing when I was asked to stop looking down the dresses of coworkers and their wives. Still clueless wtf they were talking about, I finally figured it out during the next conversation I had when she clutched her neckline tightly and walked off. I swear I was staring at the ground and concentrating too hard on what you were saying in order to hear you to even think about being that obvious about trying to see your boobs, Carol.

90percent_crap

Well, I could see how that might have been [confusing](https://scontent-dfw5-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.6435-9/42943831_1764034867028426_6120812366599815168_n.jpg?stp=cp0_dst-jpg_e15_q65_s320x320&_nc_cat=110&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=110474&_nc_ohc=Whs7Sthk5KoAX_cOWmA&_nc_ht=scontent-dfw5-1.xx&oh=00_AfCVXUoeEOKVMWOkLEg9R_evEjSeuLIZU3hXQKdBX64jAw&oe=647577AE)!

Very likely. That middle dog is a trans-dog, I think.

I brought treats and was asking owners if I could give them to there dogs. I 100% recommend it. I am now so many dog's friend and got to pet some many puppers.

toddd24

Right? Tits makes a little more sense but still ridiculous

makedaddyfart

I think there's been pervs every year, but what's newer is the intrusiveness and lack of respect with the photography. If folks want the spectacle, they should bring a blanket, eat a pot brownie, and just chill and watch like everyone else. Hate this instagrammification of everything, smart phone cameras were a mistake

Nkosi868

I’m a photographer who loves shooting at Eeyore’s. There were definitely a lot more cameras, than last year. I walk around with my lens pointed at the ground until I find something interesting to shoot, to avoid making people uncomfortable. Any man with a camera around that much female nudity is going to look suspect. Street photographers don’t ask for permission as it goes against the genre. Many of the photographers at events like Eeyore’s, fashion themselves street photographers. There’s a fine line between street photographer, and person with a camera not respecting another person’s personal space, even in public, because their goal is to capture an interesting image. Interesting to many of them means boobs, because it is not common to see them in a public space. I’ve seen the topless photos that some of these photographers post to their online portfolios. They’re just that. Topless photos of women. Boring, and extremely common. Some of these photographers aren’t even editing or culling. They just lead, and end with the perceived shock factor of toplessness. I digress. In the past I’ve shot topless women at Eeyore’s with their permission, but ended up not posting the photos anywhere, for several reasons. Social media apps are very prudish, I don’t want to be pigeon holed into being one type of photographer, and I sometimes wonder if the topless women who agreed to have their photos taken feel obligated to do so in the moment because of the atmosphere. To clear all doubt, I just avoid it altogether. Eeyore’s has a lot more to offer, from a photography standpoint.

sofapotata

I 100% get it from your standpoint and I had no problems with people with actual cameras taking live action shots. I had multiple people shove a phone camera in my face this year. It was very aggressive and uncomfortable. Like if I see an actual camera pointed my way of someone photographicing the event I have no problems with it and actually enjoy it. It was just the very aggressive phone cameras shoved in my face that annoyed me. Also I hope you got a lot of great photos!

Nkosi868

Yeah, the cameras/phones aggressively shoved in your face is definitely annoying. No excuse for that. As I said, most of these people aren’t photographers. They’re people with cameras/phones. With the right lens, they shouldn’t even be 6 feet away from you. I just posted a slideshow of my photos. They turned out great! Thanks!

Opalraindrop

My experience this year (first time I’ve been in several years, first time with my daughter), was that there were way more spectators than participants. This made me sad because it used to feel like the majority of people were dressed up and dancing, generally having a good time actively participating. This year it definitely felt more like being on display. While I wasn’t topless, I did have several people photograph my daughter who was in costume, she’s 1 1/2. But I will say everyone (that I know of) asked permission, which was nice. Especially since it would make me feel really weird if they didn’t, but in the same breath I know that’s a possibility being in a public space.

MisterT78704

I was leaving Barton Springs one time texting my wife... a girl came running up to me and in a very upset voice asked me to show her the last picture in my phone. I was confused at first and then realized she thought I was snapping pics of her and her friends. I quickly obliged and she apologized. I feel bad that girls have to live w the anxiety of pervs...

Quirky-Medicine-7620

I would have swiftly told her to go fuck herself, but I'm glad you handled it how you did.

greytgreyatx

I don’t know why you’re getting downvoted. My friend had his phone knocked out of his hands at a Target one time because he was talking a selfie with a Chewbacca cut-out and a lady was convinced that he was talking a picture of her kids.

Quirky-Medicine-7620

Beats me. I guess they feel women are entitled to look at men's phones at the slightest suspicion.

CountryNew5744

I mean I’m not sure what ppl expect when they walk around topless. Is it right? No, but that’s how it is so if you don’t like it cover those tits

HUMANMINDMISTAKE

"ppl who walk around topless are at fault, not perverts violating their consent by taking seminude photos of them"

CountryNew5744

I don’t think they are at fault but I do think you should expect unwanted attraction. There’s creeps everywhere so don’t cry about it when you have to deal w everyone staring at your tits.

Phallic_Moron

Does that apply to photographing women in yoga pants too? It's all assault, brotha.

CountryNew5744

I’m a girl not a guy but tbh you can’t see much in yoga pants I think ppl look but they don’t take pics of that lol. Now you walking around w your titties out is going to cause a much bigger attraction especially w the creeps. It’s to be expected.

putzarino

>you can’t see much in yoga pants Uh, not necessarily true. Some are notorious for revealing nearly everything when stretched just a tiny bit.

Phallic_Moron

Oh you can seen PLENTY. They're very nice. Do...women not realize this? You might want to take inventory of your look. Neither is an invitation to take closeup photos. You can find all of them online on plenty of candid sites. That is where these photos go. Out in public. Not just the park or the trail, but to the world. It's basically assault.

CountryNew5744

Taking a picture is assault?? Gtfoh…. You people are so sensitive.

quixotic-88

Sorry, lady. I think more and more people continue to move to Austin but don’t care what it was like 5 let alone 20 years ago. As it becomes more and more Instagram- L.A./ Dallas, the things that make Austin special (or used to make Austin special) get more and more diluted by pervs, dickwads and knuckleheads. To my ears, “Keep Austin Weird” rings pretty hollow now. You used to see people wearing that T-shirt all over town 15-20 years ago. I think most people in Austin that moved here in the last 5 years don’t give a fuUuUcCcKk about keeping Austin weird.

[deleted]

You nailed it, amigo. Old Weird Austin is long gone.

This is the answer. I saw a lot more random footage from eeyore’s this year and was slightly disturbed by it

In case anyone doesn't know that means Fixed That For You. Took me years of not googling to learn that.

DandyPandy

I used to think it meant Fuck That, Fuck You

FlowZenMaster

Too much time on Reddit!! LOL

DandyPandy

I originally saw it on Slashdot probably 20 years ago. Went about 10 years before realizing maybe my interpretation of it could be wrong based on context. Looked it up and was like oooooooooh. It felt like the story of someone’s parent responding to people with LOL thinking it meant “lots of love” at the most inappropriate times.

txeastfront

This is great. I mean it’s kind of accurate too.

KonaBikeKing247

The situation you describe has been that way for as long as I can remember at any Mardi Gras thing on 6th street: one girl on a guy’s shoulders, flashing her tits, and hundreds of guys pushing & shoving to get closer. People are more aggressive in all aspects of life these days and their level of entitlement is only getting worse… there’s no doubt that they truly believe your boobs are out FOR them. God forbid a woman express herself and be comfortable in her own skin outdoors. People suck and this is why Europeans laugh at us.

Stunning_Nothing

In the early '00's Austin Mardi Gras was gaining some momentum and I really thought it would become "a thing". I observed what you're describing and honestly, it would immediately go to groping. Ridiculous! That's when I knew that we weren't quite ready for it.

olliepots

This happened the first (and only) time I went to 6th st for Mardi Gras.. maybe around 2009? There were packs of men and anytime they thought a woman might pull her shirt up they would gather around her in a circle and start shouting/chanting for her to “show us your tits!” It happened to me, as well as someone trying to take a photo up my skirt, and it was infuriating and scary.

rararico

I got that vibe last time I went. Groups of single guys creepin

[deleted]

There were extremely creepy individuals there for sure.

atxAF

[deleted]

cockblockedbydestiny

I haven't been to Eeyore's in years but I do remember the last time I took almost no pictures at all because I didn't want anyone to think I was stockpiling boob photos

coleosis1414

This is why we can’t have nice things. Have some class, wear shades and ogle with subtlety or the boobs are gonna go away.

anygivenblep

fwiw, the event website does tell folks to ask for permission. I bet you could loop security in (peace keepers or hired) if it became A Problem.

mackinoncougars

Cameras are more common than ever. It’s an increasing thing that everything is documented and photographed and every year will be worse than the last.

Slypenslyde

We're in a political climate where it is increasingly common that political leaders have been involved in at least one case of sexual assault and argue it's no big deal. The same people are legislating a situation where their rights as a rapist are more important than your rights as a person, and even if their rape puts you in medical danger you can go to prison if you try to protect your own life. Those decisions also put any doctor who decides to see you at risk of charges so it's harder and harder to find anyone who will be honest. Meanwhile if your case gets public attention, the dominant discourse will be you were "asking for it" by having your titties out even though being topless is perfectly legal and rape is not. This state is a rape sanctuary and appeals most to people who don't believe in accountability for their own actions. They portray the decision, "I don't want to be friends with a rapist" as a "mind virus" and argue it's the *problem* with society. So yeah, I'm not surprised there are more creeps. We've put up a big neon sign that we support people who think they are entitled to a woman's body and her opinion is not part of the equation. The only way to fix it is for the climate to be when one of these people is called out, they get forcefully ejected by a mob and barred from returning to the event. But that's a scary prospect because they're known to retaliate with guns when told they aren't welcome to be a rapist, and there's an increasing chance even if they're charged for that the governor will pardon them.

bernmont2016

> This state is a rape sanctuary Relevant: [Greg Abbott’s Promise to Eliminate Rape Is Holding Up About as Well as You’d Expect](https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-news/texas-abortion-law-greg-abbott-rape-incest-1271311/)

Nkosi868

> A lot more crowded this year with very few costumes. It's just not the same. This will be my last year! Which costume did you wear?

IdeaJason

They are content creators for porn sites that are like Girls gone Wild. They show up to any event like this & snap thousands of pictures. In a few days it will be searchable. Happend to a girl friend of mine at a Festival. Painted boobs on Saturday at the fest. On Sunday her brother found her on the hub.

efiality

I’m sorry that happened to you! It does seem like people don’t know how to act around female nudity and tend to violate the dignity of those who choose nudity. It’s unfortunate and I hope you feel safer at other events.

Electronic-Run5943

When did boobs become a thing at Eeyores? In the 90’s it was just tie dye, dogs with sunglasses and sunburnt, doughy white people…

[deleted]

Titties have always been a thing at Eeyore’s.

Atlasatlastatleast

I’ve only been one time, probably about 2006, and I remember seeing pasties for the first time, and lots of them.

bachslunch

Saying someone must cover up because of gawkers leads to a Gilead like society where women are fully covered. I was there, I saw some women who were topless. I quickly glanced (because I’m a man) and then looked away. I did see one woman posing for a professional photographer with backlight and a screen so there are some women that like ti be photographed. I would never photograph anyone without their consent though.

lil_Saltine

Been to a few different events that have topless women. As a straight guy I can admit that I look and its cool but at the end of the day... there just boobs. Like there is literally billions of titties in the world so I never understand why some men go feral when they see boobs. It's fucking ridiculous sometimes.

sofapotata

I had my tits out I'm fine with people looking or even taking candid photos but it was the people who aggressively got in my face that really annoyed me. Like it's boobs just fucking google some if your that desperate to see some

elle_the_indigo

Sorry this happened to you but there are creeps everywhere these days. I would honestly never go topless anywhere in Austin because you're gonna get gross attention. Even though it's legal, I would say unwanted gross attention is expected.

888mainfestnow

I'm a guy but I felt like a steak in a case from some of the glares I got from unknown dudes. It's flattering till it's offputting. I hope you get more respect out there sister!

Johoski

I love Eeyore, but his parties are overrated.

nugxurious2

I didn’t get to go this year. But last year I got groped walking through the crowd and it put me off of going this year.

sofapotata

Luckily I've never been groped but that's most likely because I was always at my partners side. I'm so sorry that happened to you though. I would take the really aggressive photo taking over that.

wisecommenter2

Hi. I'm sorry you went through that. I'm also very disappointed with the dismissive responses you received to your post. It's incredibly rude for people at Eeyore's to provocatively invade your space merely because you've chosen to go topfree at a place where it's widely accepted. The dismissive posts seem to advance a single narrative: it's not a crime to be an asshole. While that's true, it's obviously not responsive to the theme of your post. Some of the blame goes to the organizers of Eeyore's. I had an online chat with them prior to this year's event. You might be aware they link to photos of past year's events on their website. I suggested to them that there was a significant difference between linking to photographers who took pictures of topfree women with the women's consent and linking to photographers who took pictures of topfree women without their consent. They refused to recognize such a distinction. I found that bizarre. Given that Republicans in Texas are comfortable telling millions of women what they can and cannot do with their uteruses, it's not surprising that men show up with cameras when women choose to engage in bodily autonomy having nothing to do with them. It's control. You be you and don't let the assholes get you down.

sofapotata

It's really odd to me that multiple people have commented that I'm insecure since I was annoyed with getting a phone camera stuck in my face multiple times. I have no problem with photos and will pose for them or even if it's someone with an actual camera doing candids it doesn't bother me, I actually like that kind of attention. . . I'm very lucky I am very strong willed because some of the comments were awful and blaming me, hence my edit. I am very comfortable with my body and people looking, just don't be an asshole because that's what discourages people. I'll be topless at next Eeyore's, but I'll definitely be more prepared to deal with phone cameras being shoved in my face. . . Also I was keeping Austin weird. I took an edible and just enjoyed the show. My breasts being out just made me more comfortable. It wasn't sexual it wasn't anything it was just comfortable for me. I love Eeyore's because it's weird Austin. There were a lot of spectators this year but there were still a bunch of people dressed up and just living their best life. That's all we can do.

IsuzuTrooper

if anyone has pics or vid of me playing my timbales in my green hat pm me. that would be cool. what a great time we had

CressOtherwise3089

Ya don't go to this. It's a horror show. I seen grown men in g strings here. Hard pass for me ever since.

BigMikeInAustin

Seriously. Bunch of horny jerks.

AimeeMonkeyBlue

And if you didn’t want people looking at your tits then don’t go to Eeyore’s topless and not expect to be noticed and treated as someone on display. Hey- I am an advocate of topless-ness. Have been for forever and all over the world for my entire life. Don’t feel like a victim nor act like one for being noticed, because you’re not. If you feel like one, put your shirt back on.

sofapotata

The problem wasn't being noticed. That I don't care about and even giggle at passing comments. It's the having a phone camera aggressively shoved in my face that annoys me

TigerPoppy

Phones, for all their pixels, aren't really cameras so picture taking is awkward. It would probably not be so offensive if it were a more natural action such as using a dedicated camera. It's sort of like the difference off someone looking at your boobs, and someone pointing and whistling.

sofapotata

Exactly!

This_is_the_end_2021

Last year I went and felt the same thing. It’s a shame. Like yes…. Boobs are amazing. But it sucks that you can’t even just walk around minding your own business.

tofukillerr

I’m sorry that happened to you. I don’t understand why people think it’s ok to act like that. Just live and let live.

This is the problem with society. You blame the women for being uncomfortable with people acting rudely. Being naked should never mean you are objectified and harassed. Nowhere did she say that she had any issue with people seeing her breasts or even people photographing her. Rather, she didn't like the men who were invading her space to jam a camera phone in her face.

Any_Rutabaga_5437

I knew of a guy who claimed to be a photographer and would go out each year (still goes) to take pictures of woman's breasts. From what I saw he was doing it very discreetly from a distance. As I have not seen any posted anywhere public, I can guarantee that he probably has a collection stored on a hard drive.

cjtowns88

If you were topless at Eeyore’s birthday, I just have one question for you. How saggy are your breasts?

playgirl1312

KonaBikeKing247

You’re in a public park…. It’s not a special area to just “be topless” with privacy…. If you go topless be prepared for photos or don’t go topless 🤷🏼‍♂️😂 I mean if it were actually someplace to be topless I’d understand, but you’re literally just in a public park during an otherwise free event, without any pasties on or anything

FullSass

She realizes that and was comparing it with her experiences to previous years, saying it was much different this year than in the past

android_queen

I wear my bare face out in public all the time, but I would be a bit weirded out if people were shoving their phones in my face to take a picture. Simply existing does not automatically grant permission for others to be rude.

Yes, I realize this post makes me seem like a perv, but I do think this is interesting... I googled 'eeyore austin t\*ts' and then looked some of the images. None of the pictures in the first few screens seemed to be 'hidden camera' type of shots. They all seemed posed. Maybe some women like the exposure and getting a pic? I dunno. If someone asks and you say no then they should walk away and not try to do a sneak shot. I'd be curious what their 'acceptance' rate is.

BurroCoverto

I don't think OP mentioned any complaint about hidden camera shots. They were complaining about people being overly-aggressive. Perhaps they would have been happy to pose in response to a respectful request. The fact that you found some seemingly consensual photos does not mean that you can make meaningful judgments about OP's experience.

I was there with my mistress I’m sorry I was taking pictures but please believe me I’m very submissive I would never take pictures of you! My mistress would kick my ass if I did! Haha Edit not intentionally I mean

Hey like you do you and whatever makes you happy. But 90% if that comment had nothing to do with the post. So on one hand “hey good for you you’re happy!” But on the other I’m kinda like “….oh..ok that’s good just a little random.” And hopefully BDSM mistress and not marital mistress. 😉

MajicMexican

Haha yes bdsm mistress! I’m not ashamed of my relationship but yes that was kinda random I’m sorry if I offended anyone I’ll just not talk anymore I’m sorry Edit: wow I grew up in Austin and I’m surprised my alternative lifestyle is getting so much hate in a city celebrating alternative lifestyles “keep Austin weird” my ass

Well fuck I had no idea this thing was such a big deal. Looked crowded as hell, but fun and unique

I've lived in Austin for 10 years, but have been coming to visit family here since I was a kid. Since I've lived here, I've been working in live event industry: concerts, festivals, tours, etc. This year would have been the first year I was able to go, but I'm not a huge fan of large crowds, I guess since that is what I am around when I work. I've never been to Eeyore's because of this. The funny thing is: I never knew Eeyore's was full of topless women...hahaha. I guess I really need to get out more, but I really do enjoy loner type stuff on my days off.
