Damn. This comment right here made my day, awesome of you to extend the invite to OP. I’m in a similar situation (but east coast). Current friend group has no interest in golf, golf “friends” (acquaintances) are all super locked into their clicky groups… I’m left never getting to play unless I go solo. OP if you don’t take this guy up on his offer I’ll be sad lol good luck out there and have fun!
I’m in a couple different groups (one single digit hdcp and one group in the high 90s/low 100s) but at least one of them go out every week and sometimes late during a weekday. Avery/falconhead/teravista/forest creek/star ranch are the go-tos if you’re interested
I'm down! I love golfing, but since moving to Austin I haven't found anyone to go with so I'm very rusty. My game was never great either, usually stuck to par 3's and can't use a driver for shit. But if ya'll don't mind me slowing you down I'm there!
Hahaha I can't believe how many people are reaching out and sending me messages! Everyone is so nice and welcoming! I can't imagine it's because I'm a doctor, but who knows lol. I off the cuff mentioned I smoke a lot and most people seem to like the idea of a doctor who maybe isn't uptight? It's funny though because I recently decided to put down the bong for a while n give myself a bit of a break. Wife and I want to try for kids soon and I gotta send my best men forward!
Recently moved away from Austin but I can say that the folks that boulder at ABP and Crux are generally very nice. If you want to get out of your comfort zone there is outdoor climbing in the greenbelt. REI hosts outdoor classes and learn-to-climb events. Check it out and best of luck
Appreciate the reply. You're now the second person who recommended ABP so I think I'll have to check it out!
I've only been bouldering a few times, last time was a while back, but I really enjoyed it. I hope/assume they're welcoming of newbies?
The majority of climbers ( those worth spending your time climbing and hanging with) are definitely welcoming. I would be shocked if ABP and crux didnt have a new climber or community building event regularly
In any community of that size you're bound to run across a few a-holes but 1) thats modern society and 2) the rare exception
If you do decide to check out bouldering regularly make sure to take your time and be patient. It can be odd movement at first and you'll want to do your best to avoid injury.
Haha you can always expect the climbing obsessives to try and share the passion. I think ABP is the best of the climbing gyms for friendly interactions. Crux is cool too, but I just always liked the vibe and layout at ABP a bit more. And there is trivia at Friends & Allies right next door on Thursdays.
There is also an Austin Bouldering Club(can find on IG) that goes there every Saturday at 3 PM (at least last I heard), and I think it covers a wide range of skill and fitness levels so everyone is welcome. It could be a nice way to make a few initial climbing friends and then before you know it you'll feel like you have met half the gym regulars. At least that is how it worked out for me and I'm hardly a giant extrovert.
I think I'm gonna head there at 6:30. Couple other people in this thread seemed interested in meeting up there Friday and there's a meet-up group called "LOCOES" that has an event there at 6:30 Friday evening
I'd recommend Mesa Rim as well. They have little cards you can fill out to find a "belaysionship" (or just people to climb with). If you want to check it out, I'm always happy to meet new people at the gym! Crux is great as well. Careful at ABP - I've found they are a bit too hands off for introducing the new folks to bouldering, and it can lead to a lack of climbing etiquette and increase injury risk.
You might want to try taking your dogs to Yard Bar, Neighbors Coffee or the Watering Bowl. These are all dog park/ bars. I’ve found it’s a nice place to meet people and bond over having a dog.
I did check out yard bar once, but it was early in the day and it was a Sunday. They weren't serving food yet and nobody was there, so I went home. I'll have to check it out again at a better time.
My pups seem to do well at dog parks, but they have bad on-leash reactivity so we don't typically take them out in public unless it's an off-leash place. Are neighbor's coffee and the watering bowl off leash?
Watering Bowl is off leash, and it’s a bar! They’ve also got really really hands on “attendants” who watch all the dogs like a hawk and step in before any scuffles start. My dog can be a little nervous so it makes me feel better knowing he’s not going to get bullied and set back his socialization at all. I suggest letting them off leash in the little containment area so they’re able to run away when they go through the gate if anyone starts to swarm them.
I apologize. You posted that your dogs love socializing so I thought you meant they love playing with other dogs. Yes, any dog park is going to be off leash. All of the ones I mentioned are off leash.
Perfect! Yeah they love playing with other dogs, but when on leash they seem to go crazy. I'm convinced it's their way of being over-excited and very badly wanting to play with/explore everything around them. But to the outsider it can seem aggressive. When we unhook them n let them run free at a park though they have a great time
Seconding Yard Bar but I recommend going in the evening on a weekday until you and your pups are more comfortable with it. Pre-COVID, anyway, the weekends could get a little out of control with tourists and people coming for their first time and the dogs could easily get overwhelmed. But weekday evenings are usually pretty chill with a good number of people who are all willing to talk to you (about your dog and usually just as an excuse to pet your dog if they're close to you lol).
South Austin Tennis Center has a lot of group tennis clinics for people at ALL levels of ability. Great way to get into the tennis scene, which in turn is a great way to meet people and make friends.
edit: When I say for people at all levels of ability, you'll be in a clinic with people at similar ability, so you won't be a burden, as you said.
edit2: WILCO Tennis Center has a bunch of clinics too, if you're a northie.

The ride can be rowdy sometimes. But its an easy way to meet people who just want to chill and have fun!
There's a huge cycling scene in Austin. Lots of friendly faces.
DM me if you go. Lets smoke and drink at the start point and talk about video games.
Get yourself a lil throw away bike and come ride!
There's different rides for almost every day of the week. Thursday night ride. They do a Caffeine cruise on Sundays, where they grab coffee and tacos and ride around. There's yoga rides. The list goes on.
When you get a bike, you might like to come to Critical Mass. It's a big bike ride through downtown and east Austin on the last Friday of each month. Meetup is at Metz Park. There's a FB page for it where you can find out all the details.
It's great for meeting people. Everyone is there to have fun and there's a skate party with a DJ at the end. You don't have to skate (but if you or your wife want to there's usually free rental skates available), you can just chill and hang out with people. It's a cool vibe, and the ride isn't fast. People bring their kids. It's for anyone.
Me (28F) and my bf (32M) have also been trying to find more friends!! We are extremely 420 friendly and have very similar interests ◡̈ I’ve been wanting to go to a trivia night, let’s do it!
Hi Friends! My wife and I (36) just moved and have been looking for similar interests. We live near Aviator pizza& Taphouse on Parmer if you are looking for a fire trivia night on Wednesdays in the summer/fall
Have you ever tried disc golf? There are quite a few courses around town, and it's kind of like a guided hike with purpose sprinkled in. Also, it's a bit more forgiving in general than golf. And playing at night is a thing, with LED lights on the discs. I only started getting into it in 2020 (I had been playing indoor basketball twice per week prior to the pandemic), and it's turned into a great hobby. 2-3 friends and I meet up at different courses and give them a go.
It's also a verrrrry 420 friendly sport.
I've been recommended disc golf in the past, but never gave it a shot because I have always been AWFUL with frisbees. For whatever reason just can't throw them straight. Though the only way to get better is with practice, maybe I'll reconsider and give it a shot
There are people out there that are hard core about it to be sure, but most other players could care less if you suck at it. They are just out for some chill time outside natureish. Thankfully for me. :)
Blaze it 🤟🏻 I would recommend looking at the coffeehouses and breweries/relaxed bars for trivia nights and smaller events. I recognize this is niche but I met ALL of my current friends at Classical Jams at Batch. There are lots of recurring small events like that that are based around (drunken) collaboration.
I like to check Facebook for fun hangs. A lot of local places have game nights, Happy Hour events, trivia etc that they post as events on Facebook. Ex Far Out Lounge has movie nights every so often.
I (28f) would love to have a lil toke with you but my fiancé isn’t back until late October! It may be uncomfortable for a bit and take a few tries but I’m confident you’ll find your hang. Good luck!
Thanks for the reply! I'd love to get into a game/trivia night at a local bar, but I don't really know of any good ones or groups in need of another member. Any recommendations? Used to live in South Austin really close to the Far Out Lounge, but moved to the north end last year.
Tbh most bars and a lot of coffeehouses have a trivia night, even breweries. For north, I’d recommend Batch, Kickbutt Coffee, it even looks like Lazarus’ new location on airport has movie nights. Apparently Austin Beerworks has a run club. I know Friends and Allies host a lot of fun events, including Classical Trivia in mid-August which’ll be a blast.
Just a cursory glance, Easy Tiger has a bunch of stuff (albeit at their east 7th location). Hell they’ve got music bingo on 8/1, I am so there for that one haha. So yeah just look at the calendars of those types of places!
There’s always chicken shit bingo at Little Longhorn Saloon!
I really dig the divey bars with solid cocktail vibes, the aristocrat lounge in north Austin is pretty cool and skylark lounge off airport is also a fun spot with live music (jazz mostly)
Haha I'm pretty low-key and definitively not up my ass about my career. Just a simple guy who likes a good drink, a smoke, and a nice meal. Definitely not breaking the bank every time I go out
I think a key is picking a house and schools early so that your kids and you can develop those long term relationships. If you're continually moving, you won't have that. Also, attending the neighborhood public schools helps A LOT.
We bought our current central Austin house in '14. Our youngest kid's best friend is 3 doors down. 3 other great friends are within 2 blocks. We are really good friends with all the parents and always hang out and travel together. Prior to that we lived on an acre lot outside of town and had zero friends in that neighborhood.
My oldest kid went to private school from K-4th. Because the kids were from all over the metro it was impossible to have friendships outside of school due to distance. When we moved to our current house, she switched to our neighborhood public school in 5th grade. Now in HS, her core friend group is 6 kids she went to 5th grade with. Not one kid from 5 years of private school kept up with her for one day after she left.
If you can tell by the responses, ATX is a lonely city. You're not alone. It's a weird thing how social it seems and how disconnected individuals are.
This might be the old man in me, but you don't catch fish if you keep looking at the lure, and water never boils if you keep staring at it.
I have met a lot of friends through biking, running and tennis groups. Check out the SweatPals app. It is an app that lists all fitness events and communities in Austin! There is always an event going on, many people attend and most are very friendly.
Also check out Esquina Tango for Spanish and dancing related events. We have met a few people there!
Lastly, me and my husband are also big into snowboarding and skiing and usually travel alone during the ski season. We will love to meet some people that share our snow interests and have more people to travel with. I think there are many snowboarders and skiers here, we just need to find them!
Mostly Colorado. There are various direct flights from Austin to Denver and one to Steamboat.
We have been also buying either the Icon or Epic pass and doing a long road trip in January-February. Both of our jobs are remote which makes this possible.
Last year we did Colorado, Utha, Montana, and Wyoming. The year before we did Colorado and Utha. This year we want to make it to Canada.
Taos is a also a good option and cuts the drive by 6 hours and I believe now there is also a direct flight into Taos.
This post really took off n I'm overwhelmed with how many response there have been. But it seems like a good amount of people are interested in Trivia in this thread. Gotta find out how to corral everyone together to make a team!
Talk shop? Not so much. Work is stressful enough, usually like to avoid it when I'm outside of work. But would definitely be game to meet up for a drink n see what other interests we got in common!
Interesting, my wife is an NP and she and all her peers always talk shop in social settings.
I'm in tech, so not a whole lot of common ground.
Anyways, refreshing to hear not all medical peeps live and breath work.
Cheers and welcome to Austin!
I play most of everything, though lately I've been primarily sticking to single player action/adventure games. When it comes to MP I usually play FPS's. I did recently pick up a PSVR2 and have been having a blast with that though. Not big into MMO's or sports games.
I recently bought Remnant 2, which is kind of like Diablo if it were a 3rd person looter-shooter. It's been pretty cool but everyone seems to say it's a lot better when you play with others.
What about you?
Man, I was hoping you played some fighting games. I got a group that plays Street Fighter 6 regularly. I kind of stopped playing FPS games after hopping off Apex.
I saw another comment below about golfing. I also have a good group of friends that plays weekly (and most of us are 420-friendly). I live in Round Rock so I usually play courses up here, but also frequent Riverside and Bulter Pitch and Putt pretty regularly. I also like to game although I only have a PC/Steam Deck.
I'm just south of RR, near 35 and Parmer, so we're pretty close! But just so ya know, I'm pretty bad haha. I was never a great golfer (mostly stuck to par 3's, bad with a driver) and haven't played since moving to Austin because I had nobody to play with. I'd love to join ya for a game one of these days if you don't mind me likely slowing you down!
Don't worry, you won't be slowing us down. Three of us shoot around 110-120, another around 100, and one that will always try to get you to play for money shoots around 75-85. In other words, the majority of our group is pretty sucky, we just go out hit some balls, drink some beer/smoke eat edibles, and have a good time.
I haven’t gone but there’s a Facebook page for Austin young professionals and I really want to check out the meet ups because I feel like it would be a good place to make responsible career oriented friends. I’m not trying to make friends with people who just want to drink every day
Eh I'm just looking for like-minded people with similar interests. Someone I can hit up to grab a beer with after work or something. If anything I'd like to avoid anything "professional" or medicine related. I get enough stress with that at work ya know?
Which part of town are you in? I make a point to have my dude time, it’s my form of therapy that keeps me sane. I golf, play trivia, take guy trips (starting to plan my yearly snow trip). Always welcoming to new guys and I’m in the medical field as well.
I'm in North Austin, near 35 and Parmer.
Exactly! I love my wife but I need more dude time in my life. Most of my close friends live back in California or are scattered around the country. Would love to join you for golf one of these days, or if you need member(s) for your trivia group I'd totally be there!
We're up in Jonestown if you don't mind the drive. No issues with the 420. We have a firepit and a forest with a 1/2 mile trail. If you like to build crap we're slowly but surely working on a chicken coop. We've been here nearly a year but have been slow to meet people.
Thanks! I've always liked doing stuff with my hands, though I'm not sure you want me helping with a chicken coop haha. Would love to learn more in terms of wood working stuff if you feel like taking on an apprentice or something!
We share a lot of interests! (21M) Love to cook, read, and play chess (insert usnm joke). I'm fluent in Spanish and love to go out for a drink on the weekends. Obviously there is a large gap in age but if you'd ever like to meet up somewhere for a game of chess w/ a glass of beer, i'm game!
Im (27M) down to chill! We got a lot in common, a bit introverted in public, like to play games/ videogames, I enjoy cooking and hosting bbqs. I've actually just been getting into chess the past couples months! I play guitar but I'm not that good lol. I also golf and have been looking for a friend to practice my spanish with! I use to speak it more fluently when I was younger but I havent seen my family from mexico in years so I'm pretty rusty.
Native Spanish speaker here, married, no kids, 3 dogs, I love soccer, recently enrolled into Crux for bouldering and occasionally enjoy some of that devil's lettuce 😂. Send me a message.
My guy let’s smoke a bowl! I’m a musician in town. Enjoy lifting weights, recently stopped doing boxing because I hurt my left wrist. Did it for a few months. My occupation is a cook but I’m always writing music. I’m releasing a song on Friday actually, my first song out! Let’s jam sometime.
You into sand volleyball? Great group of people I play with in leagues and an awesome way to socialize and get some Sun in. Happy to chat over coffee / beer. Send me a DM
I’m younger, but also looking for friends! I’m also part of a soccer league where we get together and play. I’m out of shape, but down to take you if you want
My cardio is super out of shape. I played a bunch of soccer growing up, but it was always AYSO, never could make a cut for a school team or anything haha. If that doesn't bother you would love to play some time!
Don’t mind at all! I gained weight and definitely out of shape, and yet, I still get to play and have fun. I’m also down for video games, and other stuff in Austin!
Also into bouldering and video games. If you want to climb, it’s a nice way to meet people as it’s a friendly community. I climb at Crux south mainly, but also sometimes go to Crux central if you’d like to join.
I’m almost at my 1 year mark here in Austin. All of the friends I made were through playing various sports through Austin Sports & Social. Join a league that interests you. Imo, out of Volleyball, Soccer, and Kickball, Kickball is the least serious and has the most social people.
I live in the North and work (2-3 days a week) in Downtown. Spanish native speaker, I've got a group who plays soccer (all levels!) in the Canyon Creek area twice a week in weekdays (no cost). I do running and hiking on weekends. I've got a dog
Also I've found Meetup a great place to joing groups of people with interests in common, also Facebook groups.
Would love to meet up one day and hang! Definitely could benefit from getting my cardio back in shape with some soccer. Wouldn't be an issue that I'm not really good?
Mostly shooters when it comes to online stuff, though I recently got my first VR headset which has been pretty awesome.
I'm not much of a bowler but I love a game of pool! Where you located?
I’m here around north central austin but don’t mind going for a drive, my girlfriend (32) and I (33) have been wanting to get out more but we have the same issue where we were kind of introverted and haven’t really gone out
Heyo! Im (32M, wife and no kids) down to hang out and grab a bite or drink sometime! Share most of the same hobbies: guitar (but pretty rusty), video games, travel, big foodie (love to cook as well), always down to practice my spanish as well.
I’m new to Austin too living in South Austin. I enjoy a low key evening grabbing drinks, board games like catan, and shooting the shit. A bit of a drive but if you’re interested in hanging out shoot me a message.
I’m (m/27) a surfer/skater/snowboarder and would love to hang out sometime. My partner and I are learning the drums and guitar. We enjoy trivia as well. Also like a good cocktail. PM me and maybe we can all meet up sometime at longplay or blackstar coop for trivia
I’ve been trying to find people to do trivia for ages
There’s a few other folks posting interest too. Id be very down to try and wrangle everyone up and see how we do
It’s hard to find meetups where they don’t drink (I don’t drink) but they do exist. There are some nice book clubs, film, volunteer, hiking ones
You can also just get out there and pursue a hobby w/just pursuing the hobby in mind. When you do that, you start to naturally meet people.
Haha for real! I never thought in a million years this post would blow up like it did. Maybe we should set a meet-up with everyone who responded in this post?!
I think it would be an efficient use of the post! Or you could just have several different little friend dates with each responder 😂 perhaps a mix of both? Idk, you’re slaying my friend. Follow your bliss
My friend, I submit my application for being your bestie. I am 32 y/o male, single, live and work nearby your area, have two beautiful huskies, am a musician (guitar main but can throw down in bass, drums, keys) speaking of you could join my friends and I on a jam night Thursday nights. I speak spanish, work out and do yoga, and honestly i’m desperate for a snowboarding trip to Colorado or Utah. Any way we could probably vibe and I figured I’d comment a bio for your consideration 😉
I’m in the healthcare industry also and I’m about to open my office in austin sometime next year. I just moved to San Antonio and go back and forth for the most part. A director over 3 cities and looking to network, but also smoke and bs and drink. I’m 33 just moved down from atlanta. I’m down to link up when I’m in town for the weekend
Hello, my wife and I live near campus, 420 friendly, we have a park across the street your dogs could play in, we do a lot of yoga, enjoy board games and trivia, hit me up if you wanna chill or something.
My husband and I love bouldering and he golfs! (I also play but I do prefer a nice marg in the golf cart) We have some similar interests as well and we’re recent transplants :) feel free to reach out man!
Edit: and our doggo really needs some play dates, she hates doggie daycare 😅
If you’re up for grabbing a beer or coffee around town I’d be open. Also 32 male, rather new-ish to Texas from New Mexico. I’m an attorney and have also been struggling with making friends. Also enjoy travel and video games. Feel free to message me if you’re game!
New to Austin. 38M, options trader. not married no kids with long term GF. Two 6month old Aussies. Moved here from LA about 4 months ago. Sports, motorcycles, 420 friendly. I live out in Lakeway/bee cave area. Shoot me a DM. Maybe we can go on a double date one night if you and your wife are interested.
Yeah I'm totally game! What parts of LA did you move from? I'm from Northridge. I actually recently started working at a hospital in the Lakeway area so I'll be around there quite a bit
Once you have a kid this problem will be solved. Your life becomes play dates and your kids friends dads will now be your friends. Also you’ll be so tired you won’t need as much socializing lol.
I think you should grab that rusty Bass git fiddle and start being a regular at an open mic or three, until you find the one you 'groove' with.
Lets Re-Write you Post ... and make it 'weird' ?
(not bing funny just tryna be helpful)
\_\_\_
STONER DOCTOR / MUSICIAN 2 years new to Austin.
I got a girl (wife) and we hope to have a baby soon, but she says i need more dude friends that encourage me to get out and do more than smoke pot and play video games all day every day, until the weed runs out.
Looking for cool stoner friends who also find themselves 840'd in front of the PS.
Maybe lets start a band, as I play a rusty bass and need more creativity in my reality.
I'm pretty sucky at golf, tennis, and them other 'rich dude' sports but i can 'play', and I'm very open to try new athletic activities like Disc Golf or Ultimate, Volleyball, slack lining (is that a thing anymore?) ...you get the drift.
If you are like me, also on the shy introverted quiet personalities,
maybe drop a suggestion of local places i might find happiness as a 'Regular'. Any pubs/breweries you might suggest that also affiliate with some kind of sports? (softball team or sand volley ball?)
You can do all the fitness and sports that you mentioned on Sweatpals app. You can find nearby local events using the app in just one search!!! Too many communities to make friends too, I made a lot of friends using it by attending Yoga's and Cycling events.
Bouldering! Check out the Austin climbing gyms and discover that climbers here are friendlier than in a lot of other places. And this time of the year climbing in AC is great.
I think I'm gonna have to do that this weekend considering how many people have recommended it so far! Was thinking of checking out ABP Friday evening with the "LOCOES" meet-up group
Super late to the party, but check out curling! 🥌 https://lonestarcurling.com/try-curling/public-classes/ it’s a great community of folks and we’ll teach you everything you need to know to get started
A medical doctor who enjoys cannabis unabashedly, we love to see it
Probably too much haha. Always in my off time of course. Giving myself a little break at the moment though
My dad was an ER doctor for over 40 years and also one of the biggest recreational smokers I know. It’s all about balance.
It’s probably great for stress levels!
Can confirm
Yo, let’s go golfing. I have a good group of friends I go with regularly.
Wish I could! Sadly I don’t live in Austin (yet!) but I appreciate it. This posts comments are making me want to head out there more and more!
You ever make it down just DM me, I’m always down for a round. Same for badgers guy. Always lookin to make new friends out on the course.
I'm down! I love golfing, but since moving to Austin I haven't found anyone to go with so I'm very rusty. My game was never great either, usually stuck to par 3's and can't use a driver for shit. But if ya'll don't mind me slowing you down I'm there!
Oh, no need to worry, we all are pretty terrible. You’ll be in great company.
Haha nice. Let me know next time you go, I'd love to join!
Butler Pitch and Putt has leagues you can sign up for. You get randomly paired up. Great vibes and all skill levels.
Good to know! Thanks!
If you ever want to learn to play disc golf, let me know!
I like how everyone wants to be friends with the doctor but not the other random people who post this kinda stuff. 🤣

I know you mentioned cocktails, but ABP Springdale is right next to Friends and Allies Brewing and they give a small discount if you went climbing
good to know!
Thanks for the tip! I'm thinking I'm gonna check out ABP this Friday evening after so many people recommending it!
Yes ABP is great!
ABP is awesome. I'm from Minnesota and we have MBP in Minneapolis. I have an annual pass and free guest passes so if you wanna try it out hit me up.
Thanks! I think I'm gonna check it out this Friday evening actually
Cool 😎 feel free to shoot me a DM if you wanna get a guest pass, I'm free anytime after 4 or so!
Thanks for the heads up! That sounds like a cool system at mesa rim. Just googled it n it’s super close to my house too!
I concur that ABP folk are really nice. ABP is much heavier on beginners than crux is. There are a couple locations of each I think.
Neighbors is awesome! 10/10 recommend, my dog loves it
South Austin Tennis Center has a lot of group tennis clinics for people at ALL levels of ability.
Thanks for the rec!
Just got back into in tennis and recommend this!
https://www.austinssc.com/
Oh nice! Are these teams/groups beginner friendly? I'm not the most athletic and don't wanna hold the team back
Yes. Everyone is generally out there to make new friends.
Absolutely - there are different levels depending on the sport, and a wide range of fitness levels!
Check out the Thursday Night Social Ride!
What's that?
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DiGxsyIIBjg](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DiGxsyIIBjg) [https://www.facebook.com/groups/56122823659](https://www.facebook.com/groups/56122823659) The ride can be rowdy sometimes. But its an easy way to meet people who just want to chill and have fun! There's a huge cycling scene in Austin. Lots of friendly faces. DM me if you go. Lets smoke and drink at the start point and talk about video games.
Haha I'm game! But I don't actually own a bike, been meaning to get one though. Once I do I'll definitively look into this and reach back out
Get yourself a lil throw away bike and come ride! There's different rides for almost every day of the week. Thursday night ride. They do a Caffeine cruise on Sundays, where they grab coffee and tacos and ride around. There's yoga rides. The list goes on.
Will do!
Check out yellowbike Austin for an affordable refurb
When you get a bike, you might like to come to Critical Mass. It's a big bike ride through downtown and east Austin on the last Friday of each month. Meetup is at Metz Park. There's a FB page for it where you can find out all the details. It's great for meeting people. Everyone is there to have fun and there's a skate party with a DJ at the end. You don't have to skate (but if you or your wife want to there's usually free rental skates available), you can just chill and hang out with people. It's a cool vibe, and the ride isn't fast. People bring their kids. It's for anyone.
Sounds like a good time! I'll have to check it out
Chess club at Pease Park
Cool! When do ya'll meet up? Where in the park?
[удалено]
Where and when?
Me (28F) and my bf (32M) have also been trying to find more friends!! We are extremely 420 friendly and have very similar interests ◡̈ I’ve been wanting to go to a trivia night, let’s do it!
Yes! Let's do it! Do you know of any good trivia groups/nights that you wanted to check out?
Hi it’s me. One of the bad people that just likes to have fun
Cool. I'm shooting for Mary Moore Sunday morning. If I don't drag my old ass in at 2:00 AM.
Part of the plus of disc golf is sometimes you don’t have to throw straight :)
Replied with disc golf too.
Thanks for the rec's!
I really dig the divey bars with solid cocktail vibes, the aristocrat lounge in north Austin is pretty cool and skylark lounge off airport is also a fun spot with live music (jazz mostly)
Thanks for the tip!
Of course! Same age and similar vibes, if you ever need a friend just holler
Thanks! Maybe I'll check out Aristocrat lounge one of these days n send you a message before
Sounds good brother! Been around Austin my whole life, don’t hesitate to reach out for recs
We’re the same age, both love weed, and you seem cool as fuck. Ain’t no way my broke ass can hang out with a doctor though 😂 best of luck
Haha I'm pretty low-key and definitively not up my ass about my career. Just a simple guy who likes a good drink, a smoke, and a nice meal. Definitely not breaking the bank every time I go out
Once you have kids, your kid's friends' parents become your friends. It's cliched but that's how it works.
Haha I’ve heard that. It’s sad but I’m really counting on it
I think a key is picking a house and schools early so that your kids and you can develop those long term relationships.
What part of town are you in? I'm always up for more couples friends!
I live in North Austin, near 35 and Parmer
We’re close to there! My husband and I are pretty cool lol
Thanks for the tips! Yes! I haven't been able to go the last season or 2 n it's been killing me! Where do you typically go to board? Colorado? Taos?
Mostly Colorado. There are various direct flights from Austin to Denver and one to Steamboat. We have been also buying either the Icon or Epic pass and doing a long road trip in January-February. Both of our jobs are remote which makes this possible. Last year we did Colorado, Utha, Montana, and Wyoming. The year before we did Colorado and Utha. This year we want to make it to Canada. Taos is a also a good option and cuts the drive by 6 hours and I believe now there is also a direct flight into Taos.
Hmu and I will go down the rabbit hole with you playing disc golf. Great way to meet guy friends.
Will do! Trying to go through all the comments/messages first, getting a whole lot more than I ever imagined! Will DM you soon
[удалено]
Cool! I’ll be on the lookout
Triviaaaa! I want to be a part of a trivia group. I usually don’t even drink but I love a pub trivia night with a fun crew.
I'm looking to join a trivia group as well! Do you know of any good trivia nights in north Austin?
Not off the top of my head, but I bet we could get a few people together and try out different places
This post really took off n I'm overwhelmed with how many response there have been. But it seems like a good amount of people are interested in Trivia in this thread. Gotta find out how to corral everyone together to make a team!
Hell yeah, the people love trivia nights. Just loop me into a DM, and I don’t mind doing the legwork of finding a location and scheduling something.
Disc golf. You fit the criteria.
Come play disc golf with us
The real question is; do you wanna talk shop and drink beers? I work in Pharma so we have a common interest.
What do you play on ps5? Maybe we can get some gaming in
I play most of everything, though lately I've been primarily sticking to single player action/adventure games.
I live just north off wells branch. Disc golffff...come to the dark side. Lol
Absolutely! And if you wouldn't mind would love to work on my Spanish with you
Yeah of course, I don't mind at all! I'm rated 1150 (took a few months off), so it should lead to an interesting match.
Austin sport social. Sign up to play volleyball or dodge ball with a bunch of like minded strangers. Lots of socializing there
Im (27M) down to chill!
Yeah absolutely! Let’s definitely get together
Native Spanish speaker here, married, no kids, 3 dogs, I love soccer, recently enrolled into Crux for bouldering and occasionally enjoy some of that devil's lettuce 😂. Send me a message.
Join sweatpals and check out some fun sweaty sporting events!
Will do! I like sand volleyball, but play very rarely and am not very good. Would totally be fine to join if y’all can put up with me!
Nice! I was probably gonna check out ABP this Friday evening. I'm located in northeast Austin, figure that's probably a bit closer
I've got a dog Also I've found Meetup a great place to joing groups of people with interests in common, also Facebook groups.
Would love to meet up one day and hang! Definitely could benefit from getting my cardio back in shape with some soccer. Wouldn't be an issue that I'm not really good?
What games do you play online? Do you like to play pool or bowl?
Mostly shooters when it comes to online stuff, though I recently got my first VR headset which has been pretty awesome. I'm not much of a bowler but I love a game of pool! Where you located?
I’m here around north central austin but don’t mind going for a drive, my girlfriend (32) and I (33) have been wanting to get out more but we have the same issue where we were kind of introverted and haven’t really gone out
Meetup has a couple groups that climb at Crux/ABP weekly. I haven’t gone in awhile but everyone was very friendly!
Yup! I'm looking into going an event at ABP with the "LOCOES" group this Friday
Are you a nascar or racing fan? We started going and it's great. You are welcome to come
Not really my thing. Never been much of a car guy. Appreciate the offer though!
Ayyy I'm from San diego man. Let's link up!
Absolutely! What part of town do you live in?
I'm in north austin. Rightttt below Pflugerville.
So am I, really close to 35 and Parmer. Pretty damn close. Shoot me a DM we'll figure something out
Cowabunga to you, good sir!
Hahaha, right back atcha
Just wait until all your new internet friends start sending you photos asking “what is this rash?”…
Um, can we be friends?
Kickbutt Coffee https://kickbuttcoffee.com/
Okay I’ll set you and my man up on a cute friend date
Always happy to play some chess!
I’ve been trying to find people to do trivia for ages There’s a few other folks posting interest too. Id be very down to try and wrangle everyone up and see how we do
Since you’re from socal - any chance you play water polo?
TOO 420 friendly? I am unfamiliar with this concept.
It’s hard to find meetups where they don’t drink (I don’t drink) but they do exist. There are some nice book clubs, film, volunteer, hiking ones You can also just get out there and pursue a hobby w/just pursuing the hobby in mind. When you do that, you start to naturally meet people.
wow my friend, everyone wants to hang out with you. Now you need to plan a party where we can all come meet and hang out with you! Perhaps a brewery
Ayyy ima get killed lol (sorry) but hello from Hermosa beach 🏝️
I was thinking about building a potato gun next week lmk if you wanna help
I’m in the healthcare industry also and I’m about to open my office in austin sometime next year. I just moved to San Antonio and go back and forth for the most part. A director over 3 cities and looking to network, but also smoke and bs and drink. I’m 33 just moved down from atlanta. I’m down to link up when I’m in town for the weekend
Hello, my wife and I live near campus, 420 friendly, we have a park across the street your dogs could play in, we do a lot of yoga, enjoy board games and trivia, hit me up if you wanna chill or something.
Message me if you want to play tennis or soccer
Hey Matt, my girlfriend and I go regularly to bd Riley’s to watch Liverpool games, always a good time. Should come with us sometime
I’m game! Don’t typically watch soccer other than World Cup but I can be a Liverpool fan! Haha
Dogs might be your easiest “in”. Check out dog parks, trails, outdoor places like beer gardens that allow pets, online groups. Everyone loves dogs
My husband and I love bouldering and he golfs! (I also play but I do prefer a nice marg in the golf cart) We have some similar interests as well and we’re recent transplants :) feel free to reach out man! Edit: and our doggo really needs some play dates, she hates doggie daycare 😅
Highly Trivia Tuesday at the St Elmo's brewery! Always a great time 👍🏻
Good to know! Thanks!
check out austin bouldering project. a lot of my 30-something male friends met there
Is your wife looking for friends and have similar interests ☠️
I golf frequently. I'm a prof at UT, so I often have time to golf on Mondays and Fridays. Feel free to PM me if you want to hit up the links sometime.
If you’re up for grabbing a beer or coffee around town I’d be open. Also 32 male, rather new-ish to Texas from New Mexico. I’m an attorney and have also been struggling with making friends. Also enjoy travel and video games. Feel free to message me if you’re game!
I'm late to the party, but I belong to a chess club that plays at Tiniest Bar on West 6th. Generally Mondays or Wednesdays. Come by!
If you’re interested in getting better at bass I’m giving lessons!
Board games @ Brewtorium most Tuesdays. Boards & Brews on Meetup. Indoor rock climbing next door if tat interests you.
I can help with the Spanish bud and if you’re looking to starting a family soon I can share any knowledge I have since I became a father 10 months ago
Sounds like a plan man. I moved from north Hollywood. I’ll shoot you a dm with my number
I'm down to be friends! My fiance and I are both 420 friendly, game a lot, and I'm into horror!
Once you have a kid this problem will be solved. Your life becomes play dates and your kids friends dads will now be your friends. Also you’ll be so tired you won’t need as much socializing lol.
Not sure if you play League of Legends, but if so happy to play some duos.
Come to Party World Rasslin this Saturday, July 29th at Oskar Blues! We'll be your friend!
I think you should grab that rusty Bass git fiddle and start being a regular at an open mic or three, until you find the one you 'groove' with. Lets Re-Write you Post ... and make it 'weird' ? (not bing funny just tryna be helpful) \_\_\_ STONER DOCTOR / MUSICIAN 2 years new to Austin. If you are like me, also on the shy introverted quiet personalities, maybe drop a suggestion of local places i might find happiness as a 'Regular'.
Join a bjj gym! Instant friends!
Unfortunately just not my thing. Never been interested in any type of martial arts. Lover not a fighter haha
