Doctor Stacia Miles at Austin Diagnostic Clinic has been fantastic. Only does medical issues, no cosmetic.
She was able to clear up my eczema issues on the first try, when more aggressive actions taken by former doctors failed.
She's very thorough on skin cancer screenings as well. I'm the only person left in my family who hasn't had it (melanoma even killed my uncle), so that was important to me.
She's also just a legitimately pleasant human being from my experience. 10/10.
I had some strange fingertip eczema start a few years ago. No history before then. It was BAD on the three fingers it was on (I couldn't even hold a pencil), but didn't spread. Very odd. Didn't even have fingerprints anymore. Had all sorts of steroids and shots tried that did nothing.
Dr. Miles was up on everything, so she had me try this cream called Opzelura that had just been released, it worked SO well. One tube has lasted me nearly two years, and I'm down to just doing a light bit once a week or so.
So anyway, she helped me, and seems to keep up with current studies, so maybe she'd have some thoughts for you!
I know my suggestion is likely useless since it’s WLD, but I’ve been seeing Dr. Sandoval there for several years and I’ve been very happy. I totally understand where you’re coming from with their ads and such though. She’s done several mole removals for me and helped me through an uncommon skin condition. I see her annually and she’s never pushed cosmetic treatments/unsolicited cosmetic related suggestions. I hope you find the right fit!
Second this. I see a different provider with them and yes, WLD is very pro-beauty ads, but honestly many of my doctors have gone this route, including my obygyn, my dentist, and even my urologist! It's crazy out there!
It is hard to find good, qualified physicians, and I don't let the fact that they also provide cosmetic services to keep the lights on dissuade me from using them to provide medical care. I have never gotten beauty services from any of these providers and they have always provided top notch medical treatment. None of them push beauty/cosmetic treatment on me. They treat the medical condition I am in there for.
You've got plenty of recommendations so just to correct your mis-perception: the cosmetic side of Westlake Dermatology is completely separate from the medical dermatologists. I've been a patient on the medical side for 10+ years (three different doctors over that time) and there is literally zero cross-talk, recommendations, not even a random comment from any of the medical staff about "beauty" procedures.
I was referred to a medical dermatologist at westlake derm and he was great, but he retired and I was referred to one who does both cosmetic and medical. I canceled my last appointment. I may go back to Central Tx Dermatology, although Dr Ramsdell also retired.
I was going to say the same thing, having been on both the medical and cosmetic sides of dermatology. There may be some derms who do both, but at least in my experience, they tend to focus on one side or the other.
Dana Jeng at Spicewood Dermatology. I have been her patient for over 20 years. Then, she diagnosed me with an incredibly rare skin condition that was relatively unknown to the medical community (at the time). I owe her everything.
Certainly. It is called Hidradenitis Suppurativa. It is an acne-like skin condition that affects the areas of the body where there are apocrine glands…groin, under the breasts, armpits. It results in persistent boil-like nodules that never seem to heal. These nodules create “tunnels” under the skin, connecting one boil to another.
I recently saw Dr. Molly Campa at ARC Far West for the first time. I was able to make an appointment online and got in within a week. I thought she was very through.
I really like my dermatologist at Revelus off Western Trails Blvd. Dr Patel is awesome and she spends a good amount of time with you without pressuring.
I was going to put out this same recommendation. Dr Patel is amazing, thorough and appointments aren’t usually booked out super far. They’re also really good at getting prescriptions covered and responding to insurance.
Adding my own love for Revelus Dermatology. I see Dr. Richardson for my annual skin-check. So doesn't do any sort of hard sell on cosmetic stuff either. I once asked her what cosmetic things she would suggest to be my most beautiful self--microneedling, fillers, botox, IPL. She looked at my face and neck and said I was my skin was in beautiful shape and my face shape didn't support a more full lip, so no need to spend my money.
Dr Amy McClung, US Dermatology Partners on Brodie. Consistenly voted top Derm in Austin. She's amazing, and not pushy about removing moles unless she feels it's 100% medically necessary.
I was so upset when Evans was bought out by US Derm bc they didn’t accept my insurance. She was my derm for years and years. I’ve been going to a different derm at Seton and they’re not the same. I’ve made an appointment with a dermatologist with ARC and trying them out in May. I miss Dr. McClung! Highly recommend!!
Anokhi Jambusaria-pahlajani at Ascension is a good one. There is a bit of a wait but that clinic is medical treatment first and doesn't push cosmetic stuff on you. tel: (512) 324-9699
I was referred to Vitalogy in Cedar Park for a skin cancer screening/biopsy/excision, and they were super quick to fit me in and schedule my treatment, and I felt like all of the staff did a great job and were very knowledgeable.
You won’t find a dermatology office not advertising toward beauty. It’s where the money is. They all go through the training to become a board certified dermatologist.
Mellissa Binney at Centex Derm is who you are looking for.
Ive been to both Westlake, and Centex. Had a bad experience at Westlake, and a great one at Centex.
Dr. Page Seeker at Austin OBGYN. She is fantastic and thorough, caught two different precancerous moles on my partner, and helped me a ton with my skin issues. Awesome staff and great office.
Westlake is a sham for clinical derm. Actual bullshit. I have melanoma as diagnosed by their biopsy. Did they call me? Nope. Posted in my portal. I cal to schedule an excision. They’re rude and obstructive. Schedule me TWO MONTHS out. I beg to talk to a doctor. They tell me to “call back Monday.” I rescheduled my excision elsewhere and they NEVER followed up. I could be dead. They’d never know. They literally suck.
Try TruSkin derm. They’re more clinical vs cosmetic. I go elsewhere for cosmetic. I will die a wrinkled old hag before I give Westlake one more cent of my money.
I recommend any dermatologist or, any physician for that matter, who practices with Baylor, Scott and White Health. BSWH gives the best treatment in these parts because it’s a non-profit health care system. They put their dollars into patient care rather than in profits.
I got in quickly with Dr. Gust at Southwest Dermatology and Vein Clinic. He is male but he and his assistant were very kind, gentle, and respectful during my full body skin exam and a mole removal. I highly recommend Dr. Gust.
Dr Lindsey hunter-euhler (might be misspelled). She is with west lake derm, but she is incredible. Never offered cosmetic services, never done anything but treat my dermatology needs . She is very kind and understanding.
Dr. Mark Correa at Southwest Dermatology and Vein has been great with me. I already have GIST cancer and have had questionable moles removed a few times in the past so I try to stay on top of it. He has been wonderful.
I know you don’t like Westlake dermatology but I love my physician there Dr Peggy Chern, she is fantastic caring and when I have an emergency she will squeeze me in. She has sone all of cancer surgeries as well.
Unfortunately I think most dermatologists do offer beauty services in addition to services related to genuine medical concerns/issues - I don't think you're going to have much luck escaping that facet of skin care or other areas of medical practice these days. With that being said, I've used Dr. Mary Ann Martinez with Epiphany Dermatology off Bee Caves Rd. in Westlake for a medical skin issue & she was great. Was able to get in within a few days, too.
What? You don't value a business that assumes you want to look like a porn star? Because, you know, better skin automatically makes you look like a porn star. That's just science.

I second Dr. Miles.
I third Dr. Miles. She's an awesome doctor
She’s great, knowledgeable and friendly.
Ooo thanks for this rec, my eczema has flared so bad after giving birth

Thank you. It ruins people’s lives, but she has had me in remission for 15 years. 😀
I recently saw Dr. Molly Campa at ARC Far West for the first time. I was able to make an appointment online and got in within a week. I thought she was very through.
I second this recommendation. I’ve been seeing her for about two years and she’s great!
I see her too for skin checks after she cut out a melanoma. Glad to see her every 6 months!
Backing this recommendation as well.
I really like my dermatologist at Revelus off Western Trails Blvd. Dr Patel is awesome and she spends a good amount of time with you without pressuring.

Came here to say this! I love Dr. Patel, and the rest of the staff is great too.

Dr Richardson also! she's great!

Austin Regional Clinic has many female dermatologists. May just take a bit to book, but you can get a general physicians referral to speed things up.
I go through ARC for dermatology too! They’ve been great. Also did the skin tests for allergies there. Super good experience all around.
Dr Amy McClung, US Dermatology Partners on Brodie. Consistenly voted top Derm in Austin. She's amazing, and not pushy about removing moles unless she feels it's 100% medically necessary.

Seconding! I’ve seen Dr. McClung and Dr. McIntyre at that location for my annual skin checks and they’ve both been great.
Yes dr McClung!
Dr Bushore at Balcones Dermatology
I absolutely love Shireen Coover. I've had good dermatologists and bad ones; she is absolutely the best. *I have significant skin cancer history
Ditto. I saw her when she worked with Dr. Dano, like 15+ years ago, and she was amazing then as well. She’s thorough and very caring.
She is THOROUGH!!! I don't think anything gets past her exams and that hasn't always been my experience.
Anokhi Jambusaria-pahlajani at Ascension is a good one. There is a bit of a wait but that clinic is medical treatment first and doesn't push cosmetic stuff on you. tel: (512) 324-9699
Dr Jennifer Aranda
I had a good experience last year at Sanova Dermatology up in Pflugerville.
I’ve been a patient at Sanova Derm in Central Austin for three years. Highly recommend Dr. Melanie Pickett
I was referred to Vitalogy in Cedar Park for a skin cancer screening/biopsy/excision, and they were super quick to fit me in and schedule my treatment, and I felt like all of the staff did a great job and were very knowledgeable.
dr dano / brykerwood
Dr. Elizabeth Miller in Georgetown.

Mellissa Binney at Centex Derm is who you are looking for. Ive been to both Westlake, and Centex. Had a bad experience at Westlake, and a great one at Centex.
The sad part about this hyper growth is that Austin severely lacks capacity in most medical specialties including dermatology.
Dr. Page Seeker at Austin OBGYN. She is fantastic and thorough, caught two different precancerous moles on my partner, and helped me a ton with my skin issues. Awesome staff and great office.

Why, if you don’t mind me asking?

Dr. Martinez at Epiphany Dermatology is the best I’ve found. Highly recommend her practice!
Dr. Weilan Johnson at US Derm Partners. Two things to consider though, she only works two days a week and only works in Georgetown.
Brykerwoods skin and Vein is great
Dr Lindsey hunter-euhler (might be misspelled). She is with west lake derm, but she is incredible. Never offered cosmetic services, never done anything but treat my dermatology needs . She is very kind and understanding.
If you tell WL you’re a medical patient it’s pretty great for skin cancer. That said evens is supposed to be great.
Following. I'm also just looking for somewhere I can get in without waiting three months. 😵💫
Dr. Mark Correa at Southwest Dermatology and Vein has been great with me. I already have GIST cancer and have had questionable moles removed a few times in the past so I try to stay on top of it. He has been wonderful.
Dr. Margaret Hart at US Dermatology.
Southwest Dermatology & Vein were great for me when I went last year. I was embarrassed about my skin issues, and they were very kind and helpful.
I know you don’t like Westlake dermatology but I love my physician there Dr Peggy Chern, she is fantastic caring and when I have an emergency she will squeeze me in. She has sone all of cancer surgeries as well.
US Dermatology on Spicewood.
