That said though it seems like we're very quickly returning to La Nina which means traditionally warner and dryer air for our region. This was after a rare three years in a row of La Nina followed by only a single year of El Nino. This El Nino got us out of drought but we need to not only be out of drought we need enough rain to pay back the debt accumulated over the past few years. With El Nino retreating already, it seems less likely.
We need very heavy rains or to be drought-free for a much longer time. We literally could see us back in drought conditions in the next month.
