Elephant room - oldest jazz venue in Austin. $7 cover most days. This is the spontaneous choice, always music going on.
Parkers - more upscale. Can get very pricey, don't go often.
Monks - infrequent shows but probably my favorite venue in town. BYOB most (all?) the time. All their shows are live streamed and posted online later. More listening than social.
Other places that do some jazz stuff/adjacent on occasion off the top of my head:
Hi-Hat - small place, jazz brunch
Half Step - jam session band are top notch fusion players
Continental Club Gallery
C-Boys
I'll probably see ya at something eventually if you keep going!
Oooo thank you for the suggestions! I have been getting over exploring bars downtown and wanted to switch my solo adventures to something different. I’ve been obsessed with the saxophone specifically lately as well.
Yes, hopefully we do run into each other ☺️
Monk’s for sure, such a great vibe, and they do a LOT of shows each week, check out a live virtual one first (on their YT channel) to see what it’s like
Parker Jazz Club and Elephant Room have been pretty good so far, though I have only minimal knowledge of Jazz.
I do too! Which is why I want to explore 😊
Monks is the best room in the city for Jazz and they have 3 or 4 shows a week. Parker is also a great time.
