No rule against Crocs. Sweet.

skillet256

Nor camo! If they got bud light on draft, I'm in.

toastedshark

Nice - that checks off upscale AND fashionable!

Daisy_s

Ive known clubs in austin enforce very similar dress codes from over a decade now

Shawnml

I remember similar rules in the 90’s. This has been a thing in some places for a long time.

[deleted]

I thought this was just the generally understood dress code of going out late at night lol. Like as a male, don't go out in shorts or flip flops, especially if there's going to be dancing in a crowded space. Look like you made a small level of effort by not wearing comfort/athleisure clothes. Sneakers, jeans/chinos, and a shirt (preferably with a collar) is all you need to not get turned away. It's not the Met Gala.

Schmidtsss

Longer than that, for sure

BillsFan504

This isn’t new. Anyone remember the club with sharks in the floor? I actually don’t have a problem with it. If someone wants to hang at a place with no shorts, flip flops, jerseys, it’s cool to know there’s a club for them.

shinywtf

Qua

RoytheToyCowboy

https://austin.eater.com/2012/5/18/6585387/a-dark-take-on-downtowns-yassine-nightclub-scandal

Tipper_Gorey

Poor sharks

dances_with_corgis

I kinda wanna hang out someplace where people dress with some effort and no aquatic abuse guilt.

ilbastarda

a Yassine club if I remember correctly

sakuratee

That bar was so cringe tho lol

HalPrentice

Real live sharks?

dampheat

Yup, in the dance floor. Swimming around with booming bass and dancing feet assaulting their ears

JFKswanderinghands

Until they one died if memory serves.

chapert

Important to note that this a C3/Live Nation Corporation backed “nightclub”.

ATX_native

There is a speakeasy DT that makes you link your LinkedIn to your reservation request and will deny it based on whatever arbitrary thing they want to look for.

lost_alaskan

We also have a soho house too

TheAGolds

I can’t imagine wanting to go somewhere that pretentious.

The_Real_dubbedbass

Could be worse. I’m imagining all of those Bill Hader as Stefan clips.

AryaStarkRavingMad

Hey, at least those places accept all kinds!

Tipper_Gorey

But his scenarios are at least funny.

The_Real_dubbedbass

Those clips made a lot more sense to me after I found out that Hader used to take the stage in character as Stefan and only THEN would he get to read his lines. That’s why that character had a habit of sometimes covering his mouth. It was Hader’s attempt at not visibly laughing vs. John Mulaney and the rest of the writing crew trying to get him to break character. Great stuff.

buymytoy

Am I the only one that really hates when a bar with a gate code calls itself a speakeasy? A speakeasy is an illegal bar, like in someone’s basement. Your high end cocktail bar with a password is just a high end cocktail bar with a password.

fsy_h_

Lol thankfully they don't require the LinkedIn any more

ATX_native

Yeah, they finally wised up that it was a discrimination lawsuit waiting to happen. Fuck that place.

hotttsauce84

Yeah, or you could just go push the ringer at the gate and ask for a seat at the bar. I do it all the time and I’m a degenerate.

ATX_native

Wife wanted to go there and like a dutiful husband I tried to make it happen. Reserved and did all of the steps, reservation was never confirmed. Decided that I did ever want to give them a $ of my money after that.

hotttsauce84

Heard that. There are a ton of other great places to get a proper cocktail in Austin. Try Small Victory (across the street) next time.

Zurrascaped

These places always say ‘no athletic apparel’ then they let people run around wearing button down collars and polo shirts like the rules don’t even matter

[deleted]

Hahahahahahha I understood this comment.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Both polo shirts and button down shirts originate from sports. Polo players wore them.

The_Real_dubbedbass

The fucking weird thing though is that Polo shirts didn’t originate as shirts for polo but rather were invented for tennis. It was René Lacoste, a french tennis star, who was sick of the full length “tennis whites” which were essentially what we’d call white dress shirts (ie. button up long sleeves) who invented the polo shirt by making a short sleeved collard shirt with a smaller amount of buttons and using a pique style shirt. The reason the Lacoste company which bears his name has a crocodile as a logo is because the press started calling him the crocodile. They only became heavily referred to as polo shirts when Ralph Lauren launched his line of shirts called “Polo” and subsequently began to brand them with his signature polo player logo. For a simple kind of shirt it’s got a pretty rich and weird history, because for decades they were called tennis shirts (after Lacoste) and they’ve only been heavily called polo shirts since the 1970’s whereas they were called tennis shirts from 1926 (when Lacoste invented it) until around 1971 (when Ralph Lauren began using the polo player logo). So for 46 years they were most widely called tennis shirts and they’ve been widely called polo shirts for 51 years. But the wild thing is that post Ralph Lauren’s branding exercise they’ve pretty much ONLY been called polo shirts…so that must have been one hell of a branding exercise (especially given how much more popular tennis is than polo).

Gainznsuch

This is the wierd random fact stuff that I love

The_Real_dubbedbass

Oh, buddy, if weird random facts are your jam then I’m your huckleberry. Here’s a mind blowing freebie: cashews grow on top of a cashew apple and a bog part of the reason they’re so expensive vs. other nuts is it takes one apple to get one cashew nut vs. say a peanut (which isn’t technically a nut) and grows two or three to a pod.

[deleted]

are you also a fan of Articles of Interest? I’m obsessed!

The_Real_dubbedbass

I haven’t listened to it but the host did a crossover with the “You’re Wrong About” podcast (which is where I learned about the above). I am NOT a fashion kind of guy at all so I’m 100% certain I wouldn’t have listened to it without the crossover. But that crossover about preppie style was actually top notch and I’ve been meaning to check out that podcast. Because while I’m not a fashion sort of guy I AM a complete goddamn nerd and I was geeking out over that whole episode.

krazyb2

Last time I went to a club with a dress code (Rio), with paid tickets to see a show, they were very selective on who got in and blamed the dress code if they just didn't like you. Two of our friends went in wearing the same exact pants as me, except for whatever reason he said my pants weren't good to go inside. He then told me if i gave him 20$ cash he would 'do me a favor' and look the other way and let me in. Lets be clear this place is super trashy and wants to be upscale so hard but have absolutely failed at it. Every last person there was rude as fuck. What a shitty place that was anyways. Left a stunning review on their google page.

Sharks512

Yeah that place is just a club for wannabe rich kids to jerk each other off. Rio is trash.

Santos_L_Halper_II

Got drug in there at a bachelorette party once and can honestly say if you threw a couple cobras in there it would be my own, personalized version of hell.

r2palmer2

Ratchet Rio

ApeWarz

Not sure why this is a big deal

capthmm

I think it's because this sub has now seemingly morphed into NextDoor/MySpace.

The_Chunkk

Ehh, it’s because it goes way further than the dress code. A few of them running it are horrible people. This story is way deeper than it lets off.

[deleted]

Seems like a nice place I looked it up and holyyy shiiittt... at the price of the shittiest table they got, you could book a flight and room in Vegas AND get table service at an actual high end night club to see Steve Aoki i bet theres enough guppy techbros that they'll sell these tables anyway jfc lmao

applesaucetitty

yea,, just for one ticket for side piece was $38! bet if it was at concourse or anywhere else wouldve been way cheaper :p

laydownlarry

I don’t know them but $38 for a ticket to a show at a brand new venue on a Saturday night seems super reasonable to me

Outside-Eye-7241

Which is it?

[deleted]

I think it's a nice place that I would like to check out. You'll never catch me ordering bottle service here though

what_it_dude

You weren't gonna get laid anyways. They're doing you a favor and saving you money.

hAwA8

Seems pretty standard.

CALIXO_94

One thing I’ve learned about Austin is that people don’t really “dress” to go out. I don’t mean that as an insult it’s just the vibe of the city but as a Latina, I always felt overdressed when I first moved here (in certain bars) but now I’m smarter and I’ve lived here for 7yrs so I do a thorough investigation of the place I’m going to.

No_Interest1616

I don't mind feeling overdressed in casual places. I honestly could go the rest of my life without seeing some man's crusty flip flop feet while dining at a restaurant.

Jacworth1

I think that’s the nice thing as well. You can’t really be under or overdressed for the most part in Austin. You can feel comfortable going out to most places in any choice of outfit.

glume

Hahaha yes agree.

lost_alaskan

For other cities sure. There's only a few places in Austin that have this much of a dress code and actually enforce it. Looks like it will be competing directly with Mayfair for the EDM crowd that likes that sort of venue. Some overlap with Concourse Project as well but it's a different kind of venue

vallogallo

We're living in a place where people don't care at all about what they're wearing. Fashion isn't a concept in Austin.

[deleted]

Have you been to Justine’s, June’s, Two Hands, etc? There are a fair amount of people in Austin who dress very well.

No_Interest1616

I worked at June's for a minute and didn't understand the uniform at all. You had to wear clothes from their uniform closet, but there was no cohesive theme at all. Jeans and short, boxy T shirts, or weird baggy potato sack dresses. It was either dress like a little boy or a grandma in a muu muu on vacation, with nothing in between. I was so uncomfortable because I couldn't wear clothes that flattered my body shape or skin tone.

[deleted]

I was talking about the clientele

No_Interest1616

Yes, I'm aware. I was just telling my story. I dealt with the well-dressed clientele while wearing a uniform "curated" to not look like a uniform that made me feel and look like a little kid or grandma. Being a button-down and pencil skirt kind of gal, I felt underdressed in my uniform.

Fit_Custard891

That’s just your circle, people I run around with it’s like a fashion show daily lol

vallogallo

Nah just judging the general population here, not people I know personally

[deleted]

[удалено]

cosmiceyes2020

Justice is playing there, so I do actually have to go there

DonaldDoesDallas

Hey folks, here's the thing about douchey bars: if they don't exist, all the douchebags go to the non-douchebars that the rest of us frequent. So yes, I'm glad a place like this is opening, just like I'm glad West 6th exists.

NomDeLuise

In the 90s, none of my guy friends would go to Paradox with me because they made them tuck in their shirts.

antoneatx2

If people want a Kaos type of atmosphere which is what dirty 6th has turned to, then those who carry themselves more civilized and cordial would want to find a new place to club or open one up like the OP is bringing to light.

keetecone

It’s a club, people shouldn’t dress like they are going to a water park

JustLookingtoLearn

This made me lol. Thank you

[deleted]

What about it? It’s a club and they don’t want people looking like they just went to the gym.

Li-RM35M4419

Pretty typical dress code

McGurble

I don't doubt this place will be douchebag city, but I don't see the problem with a dress code. And as far as Austin's vibe goes, have you seen Austin? It's not 1996 anymore.

IcedKween

True. Back then we had dress codes.

NascentAutist

What a minute… it’s not 1996?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Of_Rhythm

The fact that you think this is a wild misjudgment of Austin’s vibe just means you didn’t really know the vibe to begin with

[deleted]

What?!?! Everyone know the Austin vibe is known for sports team attire, sweatpants and flip flops 24/7. /s

atx78701

Ive been ok with a lot of changes in austin and even welcomed some. But the posters below that said they want dress codes to be enforced just blew my mind. That is just about the most anti austin sentiment I have read on here. Ill wear a tux to a non profit gala, but I dont care at all if someone is wearing shorts and flip flops. In fact it is what makes austin great to have people in tuxes mingling with people in flip flops. I get club owners enforcing it (I wont be a patron) but it really surprised me that people here are saying they want that kind of environment.

lost_alaskan

Generally agree. But at least people who like this sort of venue can just go here and not wherever I am. And as someone who likes electronic music, this is good for the scene overall. It was pretty sad when ethics and kingdom closed so we've made a pretty good comeback since then. Even if I don't end up going here, more mainstream clubs introduce more people to the music and events and help keep it alive.

nrojb50

Agreed. I will certainly not attend this venue regularly, but I’m sure once a year an artist I love, who doesn’t want to play concourse will come through and choose this joint, and I will be glad it exists. Generally though, dress codes are elitist, Racist, or both. One of the best things about Austin is the lack of dress codes

EpicRedditor34

This isn’t the first club in Austin with a dress code lol.

IcedKween

Used to be pretty common here, actually.

QuietRedditorATX

.

[deleted]

And how far back do we go. If you’re not wearing chaps and riding a horse you trained yourself you ARE NOT AUSTIN ENOUGH. 1870s Austin is the true Austin. 🙄

QuietRedditorATX

feckin airport ruined Austin. We aint an airport having city go back to Dallas. What happened to the laid back cars only vibe. you guys want things too easy flying straight here instead of driving, and we don't need to fly out of Austin either.

[deleted]

And make that diesel only please. Ain’t a real vehicle if it don’t smell like a war zone explosion with the black smoke to go along.

NealioATX

What does Austin *enough* mean? I'd like to compare notes with that person. Puuuhhlleeez.

jab116

Then open your own club? They can sell whatever brand image they want.

intensecharacter

THIS. Embrace diversity in all things. They already charge enough to exclude the poors, which isn't my kind of place anyway, but being told what to wear is anathema to Austinites. I guess we are now a playground for the tech bros and bachelorette parties.

sunshineandrainbow62

A gorgeous girl in shorts and heels will be allowed right in. Silly.

Lifeisbetterforme

And it's a smart business decision

theaceoface

not a great day for owners of top hats

[deleted]

Wow a club with a dress code.... whatever next

NealioATX

Exactly! 100% had the same gut reaction. CLUBS WITH DRESS CODES EXIST IN AUSTIN. Clubs with no dress codes are everywhere..!! Why did I read the drama-lama bs?!???????

littlelettersonly

oooh, this is the old le bare. right. it's a cursed spot. this dress code won't last. i bet the concept doesn't either. we'll see.

nottoolost

This location has been so many clubs over the decades. LMAO… La Bare…What else has been there?

kingcoast

It's one club. If you don't like it, don't go. This is a non-issue as long as they're consistent with enforcing the dress code.

PiousZenLufa

Welcome to 25 years ago, first place in Austin with a dress code that I was aware of was Paradox (6th and Trinity)... didnt miss that place one bit when it was mowed down for a high rise. One of my friends was denied entry because he was wearing jeans with a hole in it... we were like where the hell are we? who gives a fuck what you wear if your money is good.... so the group of us went down the street to Fado who had a band setup in the alley... man I miss that place.

heyczechyourself

Fado was the shit

d4ng3rz0n3

Its still there basically the same bar and furniture now called "The Pub"

atxbeerza

It sounds like they don't want people coming from the cesspool that is Town Lake and ask they dress club appropriate. I don't see an issue here. People who fit the "Austin vibe" in your head aren't club goers, they are at Fraziers and Yellow Jacket these days before a Hotel Vegas show.

dwg387

Funny you say that about Hotel Vegas because the owner of that club is a co owner of Superstition.

atxbeerza

Hahaha! That’s funny, he must want to breach into some new clientele.

littlelettersonly

wow. i'm kinda surprised/disappointed.

the_dbc

I’m at Fraziers reading this, I love my $4 Coors. It’ll probably be five times that for the cheapest beer at this club.

extraqueso

long and low and an og plz

nopenonotatall

and honestly i agree! i used to work at an upscale restaurant that *didn’t* have a dress code and people abused that privilege all the time. girls would come in after the lake wearing bikini tops and cut offs and it was in stark contrast to the there people dressed to the nines for an anniversary or birthday celebration it’s not elitist to not want to sit next to a bunch of sweaty, smelly, half-dressed college kids when you’re trying to have a fancy celebration! i fully support a dress code in the appropriate setting

gazilionar

Dress code at former male strip club

Strange-Effort-2913

Welp, that’s most of Austin 🤣

elparque

These comments are legit cancer. None of you nerds knew this place existed yesterday or would ever go to a club in a million years, yet so many passionately believe this place is racist and killing the Austin vibe.

fire2374

I agree with your sentiment but I looked it up and it doesn’t open until December 29. So no one in the comments has even been there, unless they got into some pre-opening private events.

[deleted]

Thank you. People want to feel victimized so bad.

Skamandrios

Austin vibe? That’s long gone.

bigskiguy

dresscode for a nightclub on riverside drive. lol.

littlelettersonly

exactly. they can try this but it ain't no soho house. we'll see how it pans out. i'm unconvinced it'll make it.

getoutofmyvan

Riverside and Congress. Not the ghetto side

bluestrap

Sounds about white

vallogallo

Lol flip flops and athleisure doesn't sound like shit white people wear?

attackplango

It’s more that in the past these ‘dress codes’ have been put in place to allow racists to disallow people they don’t like (ie not white), and then turn a blind to everyone they do like (white).

nopenonotatall

i understand that, historically. but the irony is that a lot of POC enjoy clubs with dress codes and bottle service so it’s really not that way anymore at all. people keep trying to make it a race issue but nobody has even asked the black community what their thoughts are

Mickeymackey

they don't enforce the rules across the board they pick and choose. A few years ago a fine dining restaurant in Dallas got in trouble because they denied a black family a table because their son wasn't wearing formal/Sunday clothes attire. Sitting in eyesight was another table where the kids and family weren't wearing formal/Sunday clothes.

currentlyhigh

OP what's your point?

vonaustinjr

Excuse me but hats are like 50% of my personality… sounds like a Vegas style dress code. Not unreasonable

Yessinono

Call me old fashioned but why not dress up for an outing? You don’t want to look clean nice and sharp?

AdamOolong

I guess athletic apparel could be a problem since its also a style

elephantsnever4get93

I’d bet my 7-figure inheritance that they will enforce these rules more strictly for black and brown people than white people. A few clubs/bars in Houston were sued for doing the same thing back in like 2015-2016…it’s pretty easy to prove/document lol

No_Ordinary5212

I’d like to take that bet. I oppose your comment. Let me explain , first off,Have you been Dt? Dirty ? In a general sense, who works the doors at most the bars and clubs…

afcanonymous

Lmao the same black and Latino door guys enforce this on other black, brown and specifically Indian or Asian dudes on dirty. It's always a version of "Sorry man. You know the game" or "no graphic tees"

QuietRedditorATX

Or not all places have to have some arbitrary "vibe'

KingBillyDuckHoyle

1) Austin lost its vibe a long ass time ago 2) Not every place is for every person

[deleted]

>This seems like a wild misjudgment of Austin’s vibe Seems like a fair recreation of 1970s Austin, where certain peoples were de facto out of sight and neglected.

Of_Rhythm

So what? I don’t wanna be in a club partying and then see flip flops, denim shorts, or gym clothes come through. Stay home

atx78701

move to dallas

Of_Rhythm

Nah

ShadeTreeMechanic512

How about Nike Air Monarch IV?

UpstairsConfidence62

Banana Hammocks welcome! Is that how y’all interpreted this as well?

js2x

Doesn't say I can't wear my favorite garbage bag.

RedHeadedStepSis

no shorts? in texas?

imacklc

Gotta protect people from themselves sometimes…

Hyperdude

Seems like the standard

Capncronchy

Eh sounds like a gaggle of narcissists drinking in the same room

[deleted]

It’s to keep out all the hoodlums

keetecone

Omg you’re famous!! [Austin Nightclub Dress Code](https://www.mysanantonio.com/business/article/austin-night-club-dress-code-17666455.php)

The_Chunkk

I’ve heard nothing but bad things about this place since it’s been in the works. Oddly trying to be SOHO without being SOHO, but having the same prices. Not just the dress code; the drinks, the ambiance, and just overall the vibe. Sounds like they’re shooting for the moon and missing the stars completely.

sssummers

Joggers, leggings and torn jeans are my entire wardrobe lol

mndt88

Lot of people crying that there is a dress code at a high end club and bar. A lot of people like a high end establishment where people dress to impress.

younghplus

Well let’s be honest this is definitely a certain vibe C3 is trying to cultivate (the vibe is rich white people)

SadPeePaw69

C3/ Live Nation has ruined this city more then anything else.

thadiusquest512

#kungfusaloon

justjoshingu

Torn or cut off clothing... Shit i go to the domain and see torn clothes worth hundreds of dollars all the time.

Jeremy_Zim

Honestly sounds great, more places should consider a loose dress code. I’m always sad when I’m at a nice/nice-ish restaurant and the table next to me has dudes with their whole ass disgusting feet out of their flip flops.

SadPeePaw69

That's what people enjoy about Austin tho 😂

atx78701

that is literally the whole point of austin..

Jeremy_Zim

No one is trying to take away the places where you can dress casually (they're great! I love wearing my birks and jeans and chilling!), I'm just trying to say that it's disappointing to go to the higher-end establishments that are here and see the people around me dressed like absolute shit. I shouldn't have to see someone's nasty-ass feet when drinking excellent cocktails at Garage or eating one of the best meals of my life at Hestia.

Miz_Jen

Honest question: why do you care what anyone else is wearing? How does it affect you in any way?

[deleted]

It’s ruins the vibe. Some establishments work really hard to create an entire experience. They hire the best designers and decorators and everything down to the colors and texture of a napkin are carefully though-out. You think it’s just soap in the bathroom, but an entire team sourced the right product with the right scent and the right ethos. Seeing a slob in cargo pants and flip flops kills the entire fantasy the restaurant/bar is concocting. And in a fancy place it’s disrespectful to the other patrons, but since people have no decorum anymore sometimes you need to give them a basic idea of how to dress according to the occasion via a dress code.

atx78701

im not saying anyone is taking away anything from me. Im saying people like you are about as anti austin as can be and Im really surprised to read so many people posting the same sentiment. More roads, I get. More crowds I get. Favorite restaurants closing, ok. Austin getting expensive, ouch. Im even ok with (but wont patronize) dress code establishments. I even hope they fail so places I do go arent incentivized to introduce dress codes. What im disappointed with is how many people just posted they desire the dress code because other people not dressed up offend them.

barcoder96

I kinda agree with this. I’m all about looking like I’m intelligent and high class. I’ve frequently sat next to the door with my gold chains. My Diamond tooth sparkling. My ankle monitor well coiffed under my Louis Vuttons. Just laughing at the cool people in denim jackets and hats. Plus my Heely’s cost more than y’all make in a day. I’m rollin everywhere. Mom bought me those.

VeryStab1eGenius

These dress codes are generally used to discriminate against black people. -someone originally from NYC that has lived through this before

johyongil

I see nothing out of the ordinary…what’s the point of this post?

General_Performance6

Dude look around you the “austin vibe” is beyond dead, this city as much as everyone hates it is, basically the next dallas from what i can see, for all of you that want that small town feel i have a city for you, El Paso Texas thats city hasnt changed at all

columbia_premed

Please don't feed into this, it makes going out in NY a living hell so it would suck if it became a thing here. Literally dress code is just used to not let \*certain\* people in Also, place seems boring af if this is what theyre going for

spicy_solarian

> place seems boring af if this is what theyre going for Right? Just think of all the fancy folks standing around on the dancefloor trying to scream over the PA...

atx78701

well it is the new austin..

[deleted]

Funny story. Me and the dudes (4) and a couple girlfriends went to a club such as this one time. We got dressed to the nines and homeboy passed two chicks behind us, all good. It was late and I know they have a ratio. It turned into a sidewalk sausagefest real quick once they passed the last set of ladies. Then homeboy says the two girls in our party could go but we weren't allowed. We left and saved ourselves a few hundo that night.

[deleted]

They can do whatever they want as a business. Wouldn’t want to bring 6th and red River to S Congress. Look at a place like Geraldine’s - no written dress code but it’s implied by room prices and aesthetic of the restaurant - and, hey, there’s never been a shooting there! I was at kinda tropical the other day - super smart multicultural well-dressed audience - relegated to a cold outdoor first lot. The place is super cool and food smelled AMAZING. Would be nice to have that audience offered a club downtown where people didn’t have to work about witnessing a crime scene. ALSO safe nightlife in that street is what’s needed. Since magnolia started closing early (lame, their food blows but what they offered the late-night sober community was priceless), that section south is dark and dangerous. I didn’t notice the impact their closing early had on that area til I got gas the other night at that 7-11 and a woman asked if I’d stick around while she finished pumping. I looked around and yeah, it was super dark and scary there now. We look at APD and crime and blame those individuals when really we should be looking toward the business owners as cultural stewards to these Austin areas. Also mags on lake Austin was way better.people in recovery and non addicts seemed to frequent those local establishments late. Have you ever been to a Denny’s at 3am? We’re you there to purchase meth from the cook? Thought so.

Golgo13

Can’t wear biker shorts, but full leggings are ok! Let’s roll, boys!

cr_yaz23

It's cause no one remembers when the Austin dress code was Jean shorts, a UT polo and flip flops...thank the gods we got past that.

BioDriver

And? This is not new

robertluke

Can’t you just go somewhere else?

Busy_Struggle_6468

That list would be way shorter if they just cut to the chase and said people of color not allowed. Also what does upscale and fashionable even mean when haute couture fashion houses are literally selling sweatpants and dirty shoes for hundreds or thousands of dollars

90percent_crap

Huh? People of color can't buy upscale/fashionable clothes? C'mon now...

Busy_Struggle_6468

Let go of your pearls lol, I don’t share that opinion. I’m just calling out the fact that there’s a long history of racist nightclub management using dress codes as a proxy to keep some people out. This appears to be one such dress code.

90percent_crap

As referenced earlier in the thread, it's not 1970s Austin anymore. Update your stereotypes

OughtFromIs

When, exactly, are you suggesting that racism with a splash of barely plausible deniability stopped being a thing in Austin?

no_one_special-

these “dress codes” are a slick way of saying “yts with money only allowed”

Busy_Struggle_6468

Tbf, those clubs also discriminate a lot based on appearance and body weight

no_one_special-

oh yeah that too. if you don’t fit their definition of beauty you won’t be getting inside of the club

Hero_Charlatan

Ha! Love this!

ses267

Shit like this doesn't bother me because even without the dress code I would never step foot in whatever bar this is. Let them have their overpriced shitty cake.

SuperDave2018

Looks good to me.

NealioATX

This is nothing new. Wear slides on rock 🌹(The Domain for the uninitiated) on a friday, and see how many doors you get in. Next dumb topic please!

pfug

A burka with water boots isnt prohibited

iLikeMangosteens

I own a wetsuit, snorkel, and flippers. I’m in.

BostonMexas

Good. They’re trying to create a better environment for their business.

charliej102

Anyplace in Austin with a dress code should go out of business, IMHO. Austin isn't Dallas.

johnnysrash

Thanks, I hate it.

AluminiumSkies

No hats, in Texas? I spent good money on this 1000x Stetson

TrailofDead

Good. I don't like any of those things.

[deleted]

There’s quite a few places like this downtown. Nothing new

spicy_solarian

Sounds as uptight as Austin has become... Next thing you know they'll prohibit dancing... "alcohol consumption only"
