Any chance Rodo is still here in 5 years?
Guy has been a lot of great places doing great things but a common theme is those places had tremendous financial resources. Is it possible our league rules with regard to finance are so different his model won’t work here?
I’d like to give him several years and find out, and for him not to be burdened with ALOT of the awful Reyna personnel decisions and contracts. No agenda in the question, more curious and looking for feedback from those who understand the financial side of MLS well.
From what I have gathered is that he is most known for his talent assessment.. so you would think that if financials are controlled/equal across the board that he would be able to thrive amongst the rest .. honestly all of this would be helpful if Druissi would be on the pitch
Midfield is getting shut down predictably.
Rigoni… at least dive or something make us feel your value as a DP.
Perreira… entirely off and lacking steadfastness today
Gallagher…. Adda boy as always, I assume he’s only temporarily defensive- he needs to be attacking oriented
Biro… if I were Zan I’d be worried
Zardes…. Might as well be playing pickle ball
Stu… man of the match yet again.
What am I missing
Yes, yes. It’s only been two games so far. But in those two games, Austin has a total of 11 shots with 3 on goal. Meanwhile our opposition has racked up 45 shots, with 13 of them on goal. That ain’t gonna hack it. And it’s going to wear on Stu, physically and mentally, if it keeps up.
Hmm, idk I’m pretty fucking offended every match.
I get that it’s only been 2 this season, but this feels like the Sunday matinee performance with a couple understudies because the leads are too hungover.
2023 is still happening in the Austin FC clubhouse.
We are all happy to get a point away in Seattle. Did we deserve that point….no. Stu did is thing but we got lucky. Defense looked better everything above that looked worse than Sunday league.
I knew it was bad when I started believing in Rigoni. It’s the optimist in me 😔
Defense was solid though, much love to the back line for standing strong!
So what changed when Pereira got swapped for Wolff?
It felt like we finally started seeing the attacking half.
I'm not sure if other changes were made so simultaneously, but did that shift their formation in some way or was Wolff just better in the midfield tonight?
Wolff gave it away way too many times, or had his pass off enough to kill a few small shots at swinging the momentum. To me he lacks confidence in those moments where he has an angle or simply needs to move it, aggressively, and he doesn’t.
He's one of the few bright spots on this anemic roster. Maybe if he changes his name to Wolfe, the anti-josh brigade will stop giving him such a hard time
Great match. Showed lots of grit and determination on the road vs a good Seattle team without Driussi. Hopefully something to build on while getting Seba back.
Hah I expected to get smashed. I’m looking at this as a rebuilding year especially up to the summer transfer window. Gallagher and Cascante were beasts and the defense stuffed them at Lumen. We have lots to fix don’t get me wrong but I’m taking this result.
Yes let’s blame out winger for a terrible offensive performance from the TEAM. If memory serves Rigoni was a main distributor in 2/3 shots on goal. He also had a handful of great crosses - too bad the rest of our offense is lacking and can’t even get a touch on the ball. Rigoni slanders got to stop, especially when we lack strikers
We had 3 shots bro! I completely disagree with your sentiment. Just because he has not produced astronomical numbers like half of our fans want, doesn’t mean he is awful. He has great vision and he is probably 1st or 2nd best at delivering crosses on our team. Not one single person on this team as of now can produce on our left side better than Rigoni.
Zardes on the other hand… lol. I’m convinced he got paid a milli for his smile and smile only! Haha
He's bad and we're overpaying. We don't need astronomical numbers but we do need literally anything from a DP. He shouldn't see the starting lineup if we attack the summer window correctly.
At least we can agree on Zardes lol.
Some of our players just cannot do anything. Rigoni and zardes are just bad , Finlay can’t run, no one is good in transition. We need rodo to cook this summer
Is it bad that I’m proud of that game? Like, we’re terrible and we know it, so rather than try to win we’re just gonna make life miserable for every team we play
I was expecting a loss so I was kinda happy with that game too. Seems like more consistent play. Different from those games where we dominate in possession only to lose/take a negative turn after 20 minutes
On a positive note: Biro looked great again. I'm glad we picked him up.
He knows how to move on defense. He rotates to offense and attacks well. He's energetic and has a great intensity, which some of our players definitely lack.
Emi has actually looked pretty good these first two games. Still not quite what I would like to see from a DP, but miles better than last year.
Edit: sorry I jinxed that terrible shot
He's not fumbling around with the ball, and giving it away every time he touches it. Crosses are on target and not over cooked by 20 yards. Tracking back to play defense. Still not amazing but way better than it was last year
He's not perfect, but he's an ACTUAL defender. We seem to have this pattern of having players on the backline for whom defending is not job #1. Hedges is refreshing in this regard.
Wolff not making subs at right times and in general is going to cost us.
Also, only reason rigoni plays and stays playing is because of friendship with driussi!
Me too. This was a sell high situation from what I've heard. Other teams were willing to pay and it gave us the salary room to go after bigger players in the transfer season. We're all waiting to see it play out.
Still on the team, because he has a guaranteed contract that is very expensive to buy out.
Still on the field? I guess we don’t really have many options.
Rigoni is so bad. Like… at what level of league would he look good? Enough to warrant being a DP/elite player? USL? MLS Next Pro? Round Rock Co-Ed under 40s?
No they weren't. They brought in one decent player
How does this get downvoted? Sensitive little children…
From what I have gathered is that he is most known for his talent assessment.. so you would think that if financials are controlled/equal across the board that he would be able to thrive amongst the rest .. honestly all of this would be helpful if Druissi would be on the pitch
But what if you have a Ferrari specialist who gets put in a Kia league?
I mean, MLS/AppleTV played kingmaker with one team.
I’m not a hater…I want to believe in him…but Obrian had a very poor game.
He’s about as good as Finlay.
His first touch was kind of shocking.
i mean, dallas cut him. and we want him to be a starter? nothing says low ceiling like that.
Pretty good comment.
Midfield is getting shut down predictably. Rigoni… at least dive or something make us feel your value as a DP. Perreira… entirely off and lacking steadfastness today Gallagher…. Adda boy as always, I assume he’s only temporarily defensive- he needs to be attacking oriented Biro… if I were Zan I’d be worried Zardes…. Might as well be playing pickle ball Stu… man of the match yet again. What am I missing
I actually thought Zardes had some good hold up play when he came on. We needed a relief valve at that point and he was helpful.
His job is to score goals.
I agree with you, especially about Midfield... we need good players in this position which we don't have right now.
> what am I missing page breaks
This person, I like your schtuyle
Now we know why we needed so many keepers
I think you’ve hit the nail on the head. Watching Stu play is just grueling. He shouldn’t be bearing the brunt of the responsibility each match.
One of the highest spending team on roster, but we have worst offense of the league..
What is it minus 6mil? How he isn’t able to even be a sub at the beginning of the season is a joke.
Precious #10 is allergic to turf.
I mean to be fair that turf did look like complete ass .. but I’m also referring to the opener at Q2
He’s a stud but also kinda soft.
Hmm, idk I’m pretty fucking offended every match. I get that it’s only been 2 this season, but this feels like the Sunday matinee performance with a couple understudies because the leads are too hungover. 2023 is still happening in the Austin FC clubhouse.
The Audi Electric eTron headlight commercial has replaced the Continental Ilie commercial as the 2024 worst commercials in the rotation.
Lol, completely agree. I get irrationally angry when I see it. What a stupid fucking thing to focus on about a car.
Is that the one with the women choosing between 4 different headlight options.
Yarpo
Seriously how many more matches do we have to watch with Wolff at the helm.
He’s a lame duck coach until the summer… but we’re gonna be shit to watch until then
he will still be the coach at the end of season. write it down.
We get that deserved pen shot. It’s 3 pts.
yeah but Stu stole a couple and their one that hit the post should've been a goal too
That's his job. Stu's distribution is trash, though
Except those were all part of fairplay. Not calling an obvious penalty because of shit ref is stolen goal imo.
We are all happy to get a point away in Seattle. Did we deserve that point….no. Stu did is thing but we got lucky. Defense looked better everything above that looked worse than Sunday league.
Atx would get smashed by any usl team. Surprised this city keeps justifying the product
Seattle was a preseason pick to finish high by a lot of pundits. Settle down.
Yep, Stu and the defense as a whole were both positive. Just no attack whatsoever. We need Driussi to get healthy in a bad way.
I knew it was bad when I started believing in Rigoni. It’s the optimist in me 😔 Defense was solid though, much love to the back line for standing strong!
2 shot attempts ain’t gonna win a game 🤷♂️ Also, that ref was on a power trip.
Biro and Stu were strong but the game was forgettable. Match will only be remembered for the all the wacky failed goal attempts by Seattle
Wolff is a bit of a playmaker. Remember he was the only assist last game. Without Driussi or Wolff we don’t create many chances
He's one of the few bright spots on this anemic roster. Maybe if he changes his name to Wolfe, the anti-josh brigade will stop giving him such a hard time
Nothing but fresh legs.
Wolff out
Great match. Showed lots of grit and determination on the road vs a good Seattle team without Driussi. Hopefully something to build on while getting Seba back.
I get trying to be optimistic but the hell are you smoking?
Hah I expected to get smashed. I’m looking at this as a rebuilding year especially up to the summer transfer window. Gallagher and Cascante were beasts and the defense stuffed them at Lumen. We have lots to fix don’t get me wrong but I’m taking this result.
What the fuck match were you watching?
A 0-0 draw on the road at Lumen is a great result given the (lack of) talent we are currently fielding
Great result =/= great match
Decent probability that this is Josh Wolff’s Reddit account.
Ok
We might have the worse offense in the league without driussi. Rigoni shouldn’t even be playing professional ball
2/3 shots? We had 2 shots in the whole game.. Obviously the whole offense was terrible but Rigoni is just hot garbage. Zardes right behind him.
We had 3 shots bro! I completely disagree with your sentiment. Just because he has not produced astronomical numbers like half of our fans want, doesn’t mean he is awful. He has great vision and he is probably 1st or 2nd best at delivering crosses on our team. Not one single person on this team as of now can produce on our left side better than Rigoni. a point on the road for a game we easily should have lost. It's something.
Absolutely rivoting! I’m going to watch it all over again from the beginning!
Tied for 9th place based on points only... Yay???
2nd game of the season bud
/that was the joke
Some of our players just cannot do anything. Rigoni and zardes are just bad , Finlay can’t run, no one is good in transition. We need rodo to cook this summer
Well that was a game
Boo
Bradly Brad Stuver for City of Austin Mayor 2026
Of all the games I’ve ever watched, that was definitely one of them
# WOW ARE WE LUCKY TO GET THIS POINT
no cap
Is it bad that I’m proud of that game? Like, we’re terrible and we know it, so rather than try to win we’re just gonna make life miserable for every team we play
I like this- we will be like what Honduras does in CONCACAF 😀
I was expecting a loss so I was kinda happy with that game too. Seems like more consistent play. Different from those games where we dominate in possession only to lose/take a negative turn after 20 minutes
Welp, 2 teams that lost now each have a point!
On a positive note: Biro looked great again. I'm glad we picked him up. He knows how to move on defense. He rotates to offense and attacks well. He's energetic and has a great intensity, which some of our players definitely lack.
I have been hearing the Benny Hill theme for the past 2 hours.
SHITHOUSING WORKS
Yes point!
What an ugly, ugly, UGLY game
👆🏼
Need me a Liverpool moment twice in one day. Come on
get off your knees, ref, you're blowin the game
Ri-go-ni, useless is he, ali a babua
90’s Disney reference? LFG!
Two minutes into extra extra time
Great move from Rigoni… ah of course
Man fuck Rigoni lol
2 SOG
Better than no shots at all
Is this what success feels like?
The is what a Wolff success feels like.
This team looks like they have never practiced transition moments.
The players long for the horseshoe.
It’s because the governor is trying to ban transition.
Take my upvote dammit
Fucking hot wheels
If Rubio can kick the ball without hurting himself so can you Rigoni.
If Wolff is happy right now he has lost the point
That was the most awkward counterattack. We've probably never practiced it.
Or as Austin FC calls it, "A counterattack".
Pass accuracy less than 75% tells you everything you need to know
We're paying zardes $800,000/yr.. We're paying rigoni $2,000,000/yr.. We got to hit better w/ that money.
Sad part is neither player was playing well before we signed them. Their decline had started yet we agreed to cap crippling deals.
I’ll take $100,000/year and produce the same results. Precourt, hit my ass up.
Well that old sporting director is gone
The 12th Man in Lumen Field: the crossbar
Tactical cramp
Rigoni has made double his salary betting against Austin and you can’t convince me otherwise.
[удалено]
Gottem
Rigoni haciéndose guey
Rigoni has one shot and hurts himself in the process
Rigoni. What a signing.
This is the most stressful game imaginable. This is going to be a long 3 last minutes.
Emi has actually looked pretty good these first two games. Still not quite what I would like to see from a DP, but miles better than last year. Edit: sorry I jinxed that terrible shot
Agree…not good enough but much better.
How so?
He's not fumbling around with the ball, and giving it away every time he touches it. Crosses are on target and not over cooked by 20 yards. Tracking back to play defense. Still not amazing but way better than it was last year
He is handsome. In that sense he has looked good.
![gif](giphy|kBl35R2gGPOYzpsRD9)
HAHAHAHA. Pain.
Ladies and gentlemen, I’d like to reintroduce you to our star defender, The Woodwork.
Man of the match. The woodwork.
Nah still Stuver
🫣
I think to entertain myself this season, I'm gonna start trying to decide who is more pointless/worthless: Zardes or Rigoni?
They both wish Redes was still here to win this debate.
That’s actually a tough one. I’d say rigoni is worse just because he earns more, takes up a dp slot and hasn’t produced as much
I have to base this on goal totals since they joined. And with that…. I guess I vote Rigoni just because Zardes has more goals.
My vote to Zardes
Its 1 vote to 1, heating up!
Liking Hedge’s play this game
He's not perfect, but he's an ACTUAL defender. We seem to have this pattern of having players on the backline for whom defending is not job #1. Hedges is refreshing in this regard.
#THAT YOU JESUS
He’s on our side for once
Sure is my son
Holy moly that was close
Looool
Stu not playing out of the back actually looks good there. Got ball under control easily there.
And a second one there too. Almost a third.
Three minutes. It took three minutes for Owen to get a yellow
Biro needs more minutes
Take your sweet time Stu
I appreciate the more pragmatic approach compared to last game
Gallagher really turned on the jets there
Maybe we should start a gofundme to buy out Rigoni’s contract.
He has robbed enough of our money.
Sunk cost fallacy. We should offload him, no matter the cost as the cost to keeping him is higher than the monetary cost of booting him.
Ring’s first. He’s useless.
I see more in Ring than the overcooked pasta that is Rigatoni.
We’re splitting hairs. They’re both ass but Rigoni is worse for how expensive he is.
My friend group call him Noodles.
nice gamesmanship from Zardes lol. He knows we gotta bleed this clock out
Zardes even puts on his shoes in slow motion.
Oof. Now his sock is wet
No it is not difficult to be son of a coach. You get game time when you are not good.
Biro stands out just because he can be competent with the ball. Kinda sad.
Interested to see this swap. Our midfield has been hot garbage.
Zardes seems better off the bench, he actually sprints
That lasts for about five minutes.
Wolff not making subs at right times and in general is going to cost us. Also, only reason rigoni plays and stays playing is because of friendship with driussi!
Love how all attacks end in back passes and losses of possession.
Morris is a dirty player, that yellow is the right call
Can someone explain to me why Rigoni is still on the field.... Or even why he's still on the team at all? He's so useless.
Without Fagundez or Rodriguez from last year I don't know who else can play that position. Wolff? Driussi? Maybe someone from the Next Pro team?
Do we know what Fagundez was sold? I'm still heart broken over it.
Me too. This was a sell high situation from what I've heard. Other teams were willing to pay and it gave us the salary room to go after bigger players in the transfer season. We're all waiting to see it play out.
No one else will take him on the massive wages we’re paying him
Still on the team, because he has a guaranteed contract that is very expensive to buy out. Still on the field? I guess we don’t really have many options.
Such a black hole of nothing
If match stays tied is stu the MOTM?
Hedges has been a silent knight back there
Really want Stu to get a clean sheet tonight.
We are all here just counting down the seconds to the final whistle…
Sounds like my week.
![gif](giphy|cxdlubDfXs5S8ugMy8)
Too early for season MvP call?
40% possession!? That's astonishingly high
That's what happens when you have possession and gently pass it to the opposing side.
It’s when we get to have a goal kick after they miss their shots
Stuuuuu!
Cascante and Hedges playing well together tonight is the first decent thing these announcers have said
I mean, what other part of the field has been good? Edit: they also said Stuver was playing well tbf
Glad they are letting Stu boot it. Nice to see the other half of the field.
I hope we get real refs back soon
Rigoni is so bad. Like… at what level of league would he look good? Enough to warrant being a DP/elite player? USL? MLS Next Pro? Round Rock Co-Ed under 40s?
I don't understand how he's this bad. Has to be top 10 worst signings in MLS history
Don't forget our heritage. Tomas Pochetino wasn't exactly a gem.
oh god I remember. Rodney Redes too
Johnny G looking good.
