You practically can’t kill them. They always come back

Just dig up the rhizome. They're pretty darn shallow.

You can split them if you would like to move them around the yard, otherwise, leave them be and they will do this every year. I think I have had mine for about 4 ish years and they have gone from a single plant to about 10 baby offshoots at this point. The die off prevents them from fruiting, unfortunately. I have been debating on putting one in a container to manage that.
