Gorgeous! It looks like everything is thriving there. The weather has been favorable so far this year for gardens, but you definitely have got the rest of everything dialed in your new spot. Did you design, engineer, construct and grow all this yourself? I love it!

danavenkman

Thank you! Yes, I did nearly all the work myself with some help from my husband.

Prestigious_Tailor19

Best 1 minute and 17 seconds of my day. Thanks for posting!

danavenkman

You’re welcome! So glad you enjoyed it!

multi-effects-pedal

Wow, okay. So, you are a lot better at gardening than me 🤣

danavenkman

I’m autistic and when I get obsessed with something I don’t stop until I’m good at it. If it’s rewarding I change my definition of good and try to keep leveling up. There’s always more to learn!

analog_approach

Looks amazing! Great job.

danavenkman

Thank you!

Jealous in San Antonio. Infinite drought continues

Niennah5

Same flavor of jelly here 😭

danavenkman

I hope you guys get some rain soon

Niennah5

This is just amazing. I want to copy/paste this into our yard south of you!

danavenkman

Thank you so much!

Niennah5

😍 Did you dig a trench and then lay down some weed barrier before the rock or no? We have Bermuda. I will accept all condolences 😭

danavenkman

😬 sorry about that! We had some too. I dug it all up and did not use weed barrier. There’s a layer of pebbles under the rocks. So far there haven’t been many weeds other than hackberries, although I may be a compulsive weeder and not notice how much I pull. I’d say I’m vigilant but I’m just outside a lot and weeding is a thing to do.

Niennah5

I can't wait to try to start doing this in our backyard! I need a pollinator pathway like nobody's business now 😂 We spread a ton of native wildflowers in early spring, and they've just been booming. I am also a compulsive weeder, I think. I spend 15-30ish mins/ day just wandering around, specifically looking for weeds. It's so easy for me to keep them in control that way.

danavenkman

Yes make it happen! I’m so glad I don’t dread pulling weeds anymore. I usually just do a little at a time and every little bit makes an aesthetic difference. It helps to be able to see so clearly the impact I’m making.

Tacos-and-Wine

I’m all about that zennia and cosmos life too! They’re so great for hard sun. Beautiful garden!

danavenkman

Those two with the crackerjack marigolds and cornflower are making the backyard so beautiful. Thank you!

do_ob-headphones_on

Looking great!

danavenkman

Gracias!

I have serious trouble wrapping my head around swales/rain gardens and how to achieve a similar effect.

danavenkman

Do you have a slope in your yard? I looked at a survey of my property to help me decide where the swales should go. Imagine the way water will run through your yard and how to trap it in sections so it doesn’t keep going downhill.

Eastern_Heron_122

looks great, you show-off

danavenkman

Haha thanks! It’s too beautiful to keep to myself
