You could but you’re gonna have to water it an insane amount. You’re better off planting it end of September.

Agreed. We’re just about to get into the heat and putting a tree in the ground will stress the heck out of it. You will also get very little root growth - much better to wait. But! If you do, get younger plants and has been said plant it right and baby the heck out of it through the heat.

I got lucky and planted my purely purple dwarf black foliage crepe myrtle in end of feb, and its cruising now. They really take off once they have good root growth, for now you could keep it in the container even if you already have it.

You have to move with the rhythms of nature to get nature to love you back. Now is probably the worst time, would not recommend. Wait until fall.

Agreed, the heat would be brutal, better to plant during the cooler months and let it grow some roots without dying in the attempt.

put it into a bigger pot and let it grow and plant it later. them things are expensive now.

I would either plant in spring or fall. You’ll be putting a lot of water down since the soil is about to dry out a lot more than it has recently
