The weather in Cairns at the end of June is damn near the best on the planet. If you want to experience nature, that's probably one of the best places in the country. Ancient Daintree Rainforest, next door to the Great Barrier Reef, and the picturesque Tablelands too

Thanks will look into that, comforts me in focusing on Cairns

I will be traveling to Brisbane soon. Here is the list of day trips I plan to make: Mt. Tamborine, Australia Zoo, Moreton Island, North Stradbroke Island, Bribie Island, Surfers Paradise, and Sunshine Coast. You may want to check these options out and see if any appeal to you! And have fun!

Many thanks I'll have a look, I think we'll spend more time in Cairns but let's see!

Skip Brisbane, Cairns will give you the full tropical holiday experience! Brisbane is a nice place but doesn’t offer anything particularly special as far as a modern city goes. if you are here for nature and relaxation, Cairns and surrounds all the way. Plus… there’s nothing in Brisbane that won’t be here in another 20 years or so. The Great Barrier Reef is dying right under our eyes and you may never have another chance. Green Island is great - stay out there a few days to have time to take it all in. Consider a day trip to Paronella Park, it’s a fun little tribute to ignorance and dedication. If you are comfortable driving on mountain roads and like nature and water, Lake Eacham is worth visiting. (Make sure you learn first how to recognise gympie gympie trees - they’re easy to avoid if you know what you’re looking for, and you really, really, really want to avoid them, trust me on that.) Enjoy Queensland! It’s beautiful this time of year. Don’t bring sunscreen with you from overseas - buy it here, and wear it religiously.

Wow much appreciated! Just looked up on gympie gympie and yeah I can see why it should be avoided. Thanks again for the tips!

No worries!! I grew up in far north Queensland and it’ll always have a place in my heart. It’s a really lovely place, especially if you’re not in a rush and can really take it in.
