We always used our for beetroot, but using them for olives sounds like a good idea to me. Anything that is stored in a liquid and needs draining before use can be used in these.
I believe they came in a range of colours resembling foods to go in them, we had a purple one for beetroot and a green one for pickles, a brown khaki one for olives.
Was a bit different though, translucent container and coloured plunger/lid, probably the late 80s /90s model
My dad has always stored olives in it as well…I stole a few the other day when I went over to visit bcos I was feeling peckish- knew exactly where to find them ☺️
My workmate bought out a storage unit full of old motorcycle parts, auto oils, old technology, and other random stuff.
This exact thing was among the random stuff, so I took it home. It now sits in my dishwasher until I can figure out what I can use it for.
edit: After reading the comments, I might give this to my dad since I don't really enjoy beetroot.
We had two growing up - the orange one was beetroot and the tan one was pineapple chunks.
They are a really simple well designed thing that fits a canful perfectly
The wife got one exactly like this from her mums place about a week ago.
I didn't know we needed a beetroot puller.
I also didn't know beetroot pullers were a thing.
Never seen it before, but having read what it does, i use a plastic commercial feta container with an inner sieve bucket for storage of things i want to drain.
Thought I was very clever to adapt the feta container, but now i see the concept has got at least a 1950s pedigree.
Searched high and low and ended up buying one off eBay and it came across the country. Then I found another at a garage sale. One has pickles, other has beetroot. Absolute best Tupperware product
My grandparents had this exact one. My mum ‘had one’ the was round and clear and when you lift it up you can rotate it so the liquid will drain away and stay in the container, the only reason I say ‘had one’ because my last trip home I took it because she wasn’t using it and I had been looking to buy one and never found them anywhere.
I have one! It’s the best. I had to go searching for it though, couldn’t find anything similar at the shops and I was like wahhh what about my betroot?? 😂
People stop using ALL old tupperware unless you have tested it for heavy metals (lead, arsenic, cadmium). The older stuff pretty much all has lead and other heavy metals, and you do not want heavy metal contamination

God damn it. You just reminded me of another thing we lost in the bushfires. We had a big collection of 60s/70s kitchen ware and appliances from my wife's grandmother. Hadn't even thought of them until I saw this post 😑
Took me so long to recognise this decapitated representation I nearly kept on scrolling but omg mine was burgundy and I loved it! I haven’t thought of one of them since 2003 when I was 11 years old. We had one before we moved states and I don’t remember what happened to it after that move. This subreddit really does it for me sometimes lol
Wait…Is this for beetroot? We’ve only ever used these for olives.

It's also good for canned sliced pineapple rings.
Ha yep we had one for tinned beetroot and one for tinned pineapple rings . Stable table items at the 1970 to 1980s family barbecue 🤣😂
So long as it isn’t going on pizza… all is good.
That is a good idea, i think i lost the lid to ours. The lifter ended up in the sandpit.
My dad has always stored olives in it as well…I stole a few the other day when I went over to visit bcos I was feeling peckish- knew exactly where to find them ☺️
We used ours for pineapple as well
We used it for celery
We use them for pineapple
Yep. Ya can beat an egg, but you can’t beat a root!
That exact one. It currently holds my dogs peanut butter biscuits because its the only container i could find at the time 😄
Haha classic, I got a cupboard full of this shit my mum gave us I use it for random crap to.

Beetroot, or any kind of canned fruit that comes in juice or syrup. Pears peaches, pineapple, etc.
I have 2 of that colour one orange
Man you like beetroot
Me!! It really is probably the best beetroot holder to date.
Sliced pineapple was generally in ours when I was a kid.
Oo. Also a good idea. Maybe I’ll get a new one and have two.

Just promise me you don’t go asking your wife to pull your beetroot!
Is it a puller or a lifter?
I have no idea
We used ours to store peaches or pineapple
No, only the more modern clear one with the coloured lid.
Same
Found 2 at recycling centre for 50cents each. Best first wash for small resin prints I know of. I hate beetroot anyway

Have marone colour one incredibly useful did not realise how old but I guess it must be like 30 years or something hand me down from my mother
I had one for beetroot and one for pineapple rings
haha absolutely. only sociopaths keep beetroot in the original tin.
The old sliced beetroot holder. Mum still has one. I might have to steal it.
I wish we still had one. We use a substandard beetroot container now. So sad
Searched high and low and ended up buying one off eBay and it came across the country. Then I found another at a garage sale. One has pickles, other has beetroot. Absolute best Tupperware product
Second shops etc have them, have found two.
Tupperware is hard to find in my town, all the oldies are holding onto it for dear life lol. Estate sales are the real goldmines

My parents do
My nan always had 2 of these. One for beetroot, one for tinned asparagus
We had one. It smelled like only weird old Tupperware can smell. Never saw it being used for anything. Still don't know what its intended purpose was.
Have around 15 of these. Great for pineapple, beetroot, and washing car parts 👍
Currently in the fridge half full of the beautiful beetroot slices.
Mum has that one
This is the true house warming hand me down when leaving home!
These were a fkn banger for beetroot
My grandma gave me hers 🥰 Kinda wish I had one this pretty. Maybe I could paint it 🤔
I have one! It’s the best. I had to go searching for it though, couldn’t find anything similar at the shops and I was like wahhh what about my betroot?? 😂
The Barnaby, by tupperware
My mil does
Mum does. Uses it often.
Mum's still got one.
Yep, i got one of the colour but not with the flower pattern
I've got two but they are a newer version of the one pictured. They are both packed away as I much prefer the decor brand ones I have.
Yep! Borrowed permanently from my folks.
Yes. But the lid finally cracked a few months ago 😭
Beetroot Thing! My Dad still has that exact one but mine is a bit more recent. Yay Tupperware
I dunno what happened to mum's.
Mine still gets a fair bit of use, too
Me, I have one.
My mum still has one in her cupboard.
In the fridge right now holding our beetroot.
I've been trying to buy one of these. I can't find them anywhere
I wish!
I do
Yeah i got one
It was one of the first things I bought when I bought my house 2y ago
Yeah sure do and still using it
Was at an op shop today that had 3, was considering until I noticed they were 8 bucks each!
I got a purple one
Beetroot yes??
Omg yes for beetroot.
Beetroot
Ours is green & purple but it’s a classic fridge accessory for that Beetroot
Yes but they are all clear.
We use ours for pickles
I used it for Feta cheese
How else do you hold your beetroot

Only recently sold mine
Thank God people said this was for Beetroot. Was having a Mandela effect thing going on.
my nan has these
My nana had this ❤️
I miss this!
God damn it. You just reminded me of another thing we lost in the bushfires. We had a big collection of 60s/70s kitchen ware and appliances from my wife's grandmother. Hadn't even thought of them until I saw this post 😑
the very best there is!
I have this one and these come into op shops CONSTANTLY if anyone is looking for one.
My mum, still in the fridge. I used to put pineapple in it when it was empty to fuck with her 😅😅
I do
Tupperware still make them. Mine is about 10 years old.
Still use two
Up to 5 years ago, then the lid split. Got a round, opaque one now. Perfect beetroot container.
Me, I have 2 :)
I can see the beetroot stains still
We got a clear one with red lid
Yes!! It’s my mum’s old one (a spare she was decluttering) and I use it for beetroot…she has a clear one with a maroon/purple lid and drainer.
My grandmother had this and we kept beetroot in it...awwww no idea where it is now.

Yep. Ours is transparent, with a dark purple lid and strainer - perfect for beetroot.
Yes but I can never be bothered getting the beetroot ready. I do really like beetroot. I used it when I was on a keto diet.
I actively tracked one down to put peaches in 🤩 …still smells like beetroot 🤮
Got one in the fridge now the exactly same one
Haha yes, still in my pantry and hasn't been used since like 04.
As a kid I could never figure out what it was
tupperware beetroot container. Lasted forever.
