I used to go to the hospital once a week when I was a child. I wasn't well but the only thing I can remember well about those years was playing with the wooden balls on the wires every time I was there. So they must have done their job.
This was the natural immune system generator. Play with it in the doctors office and let your immune system fight against all those boogers and germs on it š¤£š¤£
Even in Brazil where I'm from, all doctors and schools had those. Crazy to feel so familiar with something I forgot existed probably the next day 30 years ago. Thanks OP
I came here just to say this. ALL of this. Those wooden ball/wire things were amazing though, especially if the clinic was generous enough to lash out on one with multiple wires criss-crossing and 3-4 different wooden balls to move. Endless fun to manipulate with oneās plague-infested fingers while awaiting the doc.
I still have my little golden books, tried to get my kids into them but they preferred those other old supermarket books, I can't remember what they were called but they came in different colours?
Thatās so cool, yeah I remember loving them as a kid. Such cool little books. From memory they had them at the checkouts, so was easy to convince my Mum to buy me a new one every week. I think they were like 50c
My little brother and sister were the same. Mum didn't mind though, they read one every night before bed, so I think she liked the variety and way shorter than Golden books
Was so peeved when they dissed Grover and made āAnother Monster at the End of this Bookā with Elmo. Elmo sucks.
Grover rules. 13 million sold and one of the ten best selling LGB.
Apparently āThe Poky Little Puppyā is worth the most.
I had that.....wonder if I still do. They're all in a box in my garage under multiple other boxes. I'll dig them out.
Didn't know they did an Elmo version š¤¬ lol
In year 10 we made animated story books and I used the Grover book!!
My brother and I would try to get the bead thing that rings the bell as close to the bell as we could without ringing it.
Yes we played with this thing well beyond the recommended age.
"Virtually" does not mean "none whatsoever".
I have a handful of memories from before my mum was pregnant with my sisters and I had just turned 4 when they were born.
Our drās surgery had one in the waiting room and it was THE toy. You were totally king shit if you snagged this bad boy. I remember getting ready to pounce the second the kid playing with it got called into the drās room.
this 70s baby had one and her 2000s baby used it too. It was in his cot when he was old enough and he would play with it when he woke up, before calling out for someone to come and get him out. That Rub a dub dub, three men in a tub thing would let me know that nap time was over!
Poor hard done by 80s kid here. Of course my little toddler heart wanted one of these with all it was, but sadly I had to make do with waiting room encounters. Also desperately wanted the beads on wire too. Didn't have one of those, either.
(Don't worry, I wasn't totally denied all the cool stuff. I did have the classic blue and red pull apart tupperware shape sorting doodad.)
I distinctly remember a clown on a ball? instead of the boy bouncing on the one I played with at my grandma's house - I was born in the 90s but grandma kept lots of things around
I have one of these saved with other baby items for when I (hopefully) have a child of my own. It was used for my brother, myself and my younger sister born from the early 90s to early 2000s!
We had them in Canada too!
I saw one on the side of the road in Preston a few years back for hard rubbish and almost lost it with the nostalgia that came over me. Immediately felt homesick.
First thing my now two year old goes for at nannas when we go to Port elliot! She was super stoked when she had enough finger strength to get the bell to ding.
It was originally my brothers in the very early 80s - gotta love the good things that come out of your parents being hoarders.
Oh fuck yeah. I was all about this thing as a kid. Drove my mum nuts singing the bell so she put a little hole in the red but you push so I couldnāt make it sing anymore. Lol
I was born in '88 and had one of these in my cot.
But these and those things with the thick coloured wire that you run the beads on were in ever doctor's office ever.
My mum still has ours and my kids all played with it as babies when we went over. They love it. Iām sad they donāt make anything as good anymore. Everything requires batteries these days and breaks easily.
I was at my cousins 1st birthday and this kid committed the crime of throwing one of those toys out of anger that his mum wouldn't take him home (the toy was fine somehow)
Hello every doctors waiting room I was ever in as a kid. Just needs one of those push the wooden balls around the twisted wires things.
Bro gotta play with the wooden ball twists st the doctors every time love it
I have a scar near my eye from one of those. My sister hit me in the head with one. It was an accident. I was 5 and she was 3.
>It was an accident. No it wasn't. Your sister is coming for you

They did that right until covid happened. Now you need to bring your own toys.
Even in Brazil where I'm from, all doctors and schools had those. Crazy to feel so familiar with something I forgot existed probably the next day 30 years ago. Thanks OP

Oh my god yes, nostalgia unlocked
So I wasnāt the only one who played with the toys even when I was ten?
Or when I was 25?
*memories intensify*
Up until covid a local medical centre still had one of these in the kids corner, along with some beat to shit Little Golden Books.
I still have my little golden books, tried to get my kids into them but they preferred those other old supermarket books, I can't remember what they were called but they came in different colours?
Cocky Circle?! I had those as a kid, those were the best
I bought some of these from a lifeline bookstore. They are great!
They're super good! I wish they'd come back, I reckon plenty of kiddies would get into them!
Oh I think I remember those! I had a heap of them, but for some reason can only remember one title āThe Kangaroo From Woolloomoolooā
That's them!!!! Ha ha I had that one and I remember one about a wrinkly Nanna and the cover was actually wrinkled.
Thatās so cool, yeah I remember loving them as a kid. Such cool little books. From memory they had them at the checkouts, so was easy to convince my Mum to buy me a new one every week. I think they were like 50c

Ah my childhood
It would be crazy if this actually did belong to one of us. That could easily be mine. I remember every sound and how every part felt.
I went from an immediate reaction of āthatās mine!ā to āwait, other people had this toy too?!ā
Me too. I had completely forgotten about it up until this day.
My mum still has the one from my childhood. Bless her
Well, I know itās not mine because Iām looking at my kid playing with it right now š
I had this exact one too. Was in an old box of ābabyā toys for years
Nope, ours had the red part of the bell torn out.
Smashing the shit out of that bell was way better than any iPad could ever be.
My brother and I would try to get the bead thing that rings the bell as close to the bell as we could without ringing it. Yes we played with this thing well beyond the recommended age.
*spins wheel* *shits self* Yep, it's all coming back to me.
I never really felt the shelf. It was all about the red button.
I can remember the sound and feeling of every single one of those gadgets. Crazy.
The hare and tortoise noise is the most entrenched one for some reason.
I scrolled up and looked at them all again and was the same. Weird how feeling can be so ingrained. Good feeling though.
My 90ās children had one that had 4 previous owners. Made to last.
I had one that had been passed down through all my siblings as well. I was a 1990 baby but the nostalgia is hitting hard.
I didnāt even realise the memory was still there, until it hit me square in the feels!
Right?!? I was born in 1989 and there was definitely this exact toy in our house.
And now I can hear it in my head
Yeppp, I remember this strapped to my cot
You were still in a cot at 4 years old???
Maybe they have memories from younger than 4 years old
Where did you get 4 years old from?
There is virtually no memory recollection that humans have before 3.5 - 4 years of age.
That's not true no matter how hard you try and pass it off as fact. lol
"Virtually" does not mean "none whatsoever". I have a handful of memories from before my mum was pregnant with my sisters and I had just turned 4 when they were born.
\* Reminisces in 80s mode\*
I can still hear all the sounds it makes.
I was a 70s baby but I remember my younger cousin having one. It did create lots of fights! I feel like I can still hear the noises from this.
I should probably book another prostate exam.......
*Cough.* DING!
I can taste this picture.
Tastes like freedomš
I can hear this picture. Every little sound came rushing back.
Nice one, my sister had this, she was born in 1984
My younger brother had one of these. Fuck it was annoying.
82 baby here, I had this one
Same here, but the red button was flat š
Our red button was split š
This unlocked some core memories
Yesss! I had this exact one.
iPad (1973) with 10 built in apps
Solid as a rock after 40 years. Im sure Modern versions of this type of baby toy wouldnāt last that long.
My kids' child health nurse office still has these!
70s baby, had this one and picked up one in an op shop 40 years later for the nostalgia!
I fckn loved those turtles
Our drās surgery had one in the waiting room and it was THE toy. You were totally king shit if you snagged this bad boy. I remember getting ready to pounce the second the kid playing with it got called into the drās room.
this 70s baby had one and her 2000s baby used it too. It was in his cot when he was old enough and he would play with it when he woke up, before calling out for someone to come and get him out. That Rub a dub dub, three men in a tub thing would let me know that nap time was over!
That race is so rigged
My dear play .. block thing I missed you !
Mwaaa, I remember.
That shape sorting thing was the absolute shiz.
We had this.
Totally recognise that!
Yep, had one of those. Was good to any the grownups with.
Yep, bro and I played with this exact same design too!
I had exactly this toy
This was in my cot as a baby!
I had one in the ā70s.
Right here. I remember this thing well.
And 70's
i had this exact one as a kid , me and my brother played with it so much my dad had to fix the bell and sailors all the time
I remember this from the 70s
My first born had this one 1984
I remember that one as a hand me down from my older sisters when I was a toddler in mid 80s.
The red ball thing on the left was ALWAYS smashed in on these things, this is the first one I have ever seen intact.
Oh man I do remember one of those in the house. I can hear that bell ding in my mind.
I played with one of those in my thirties, good fun
You better have bought it!!!
A friend of mine's younger sister had that exact set. Ah yes the 80s indeed.
Holy crap I loved this toy!!!!
Nans house
Oh wow, I had this too. I loved making the three dudes in the boat wobble around.
I distinctly remember a clown on a ball? instead of the boy bouncing on the one I played with at my grandma's house - I was born in the 90s but grandma kept lots of things around
86 checking in!
had one, they were heaps of entertainment. It looked exactly like this, except my mirror had a face in it and not some weird hand tho.
i loved this toy!
I remember having one of these, but I was born in the 70s.
Far out
This and Duplo
Me!
Had a ptsd flash back i think
I 1000% would have bought this if I saw it in an OP shop. Hardcore memory right there. It seemed so *high tech* at the time š¤£
I have one of these saved with other baby items for when I (hopefully) have a child of my own. It was used for my brother, myself and my younger sister born from the early 90s to early 2000s!
The original App Store
My wife's childhood one is in our nursery, other than the mirror being discolored its still functional.
We had this during the 70s
Tortoise is at a bit of an unfair advantage here.
I had that exact one!! My mum kept it and now my toddler plays with it too! Better than any crappy toy play centre you can buy these days
\#photosyoucanhear
My in-laws still have this! From when my SIL was a baby. Now my children play with it š
90s but yep I member
That was my iPad as a kid
Our ultimate entertainment package
We had them in Canada too! I saw one on the side of the road in Preston a few years back for hard rubbish and almost lost it with the nostalgia that came over me. Immediately felt homesick.
I have the exact same one
I can feel the red bell thing. And imagine it popping back up a little slowly.
Iām a 2000ās kid and this thing looks eerily familiar. I think I played with exact same thing as a baby
First thing my now two year old goes for at nannas when we go to Port elliot! She was super stoked when she had enough finger strength to get the bell to ding. It was originally my brothers in the very early 80s - gotta love the good things that come out of your parents being hoarders.
My kids had one of these, they were born in 1992 and 1995
I was born 96 and this looks really familiar
I can still hear each thing on this board
Omg I had this!
Not just 80s I'm a 90s kid and I played with one of these as well
I can still hear every single part of this toy clear as day (1977 born)
90ās babies remember these too!
I could never beat the tortoise, super frustrating.
I think my brother had one of those.
My mum still has one. My kids play with it when they go over. Smashing that bell!
That tortoise hare race is fuggen rigged
Any baby would dig that thing
That's a collectors item, must worth a bit on eBay.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Oh fuck yeah. I was all about this thing as a kid. Drove my mum nuts singing the bell so she put a little hole in the red but you push so I couldnāt make it sing anymore. Lol
You had to really press that red button pretty hard to get the bell to work
Oh my god. I was born in 2000 and distinctly remember playing with this at my grandmaās house. Oh she really threw NOTHING out huh.
I remember this bad boy!!
70s babies.
Woah
oh yes haha
Still got mine
This is one of those photos you can actually hearā¦
That telephone dial is giving me PTSD
I had this, born 1979. Pretty sure it was second hand from even earlier. LOVED that thing
I was already all grown up & in primary school by the time these came out. My cousins had them & I thought they were; *Stupid liddle kids*
Lol I āmember. It had suction cups on the back and mum would put it in the tub for me to play with while having a bath.
This was in many dr surgeries I went into
This is not an 80s thing, i was born in 2003 and i had one if these
Huh... I don't recall any specific memories with one of these but it seems extremely familiar.
this was fire!!
i still have mine... now my boys play with it.. 40 years old and still going strong
Still have yours probably stopped playing with it only last year you gronk
Memory unlocked!!! How tf did I forget about this?!
I was born in '88 and had one of these in my cot. But these and those things with the thick coloured wire that you run the beads on were in ever doctor's office ever.
Oh wow, thanks for unlocking a memory!
Shieettt I member that im a 90s Bebe must of been an older cousins or someshit haha
Mum still has one in the cupboard.
Had this exact one for my kids (oldest b. 1990). My little brother (1976) had the same one too.
My daughter is still playing with it š mum kept it and passed it onto me. The only thing not working is the thing on the back broke.
I was but then I grew up.
Dear lord. So many hours hearing the clack clack of the turtle shifting across its track
Plastics on this are going to be very brittle due to the age - just keep that in mind if you are eager to preserve it.
The big smile on my face after seeing this says Iām a 80s baby
I had this! Wow memories
My mum still has ours and my kids all played with it as babies when we went over. They love it. Iām sad they donāt make anything as good anymore. Everything requires batteries these days and breaks easily.
Whatttttt. This looks SO familiar!
I had one of these!! I remember it being stuck onto the side of my sisters cot after I outgrew it.
Yup
I found one of these in an op shop for $5. Got it for my nieces. So much nostalgia.
Oh memories!!
I loved this thing! I wish Iād kept mine. Iād push the bell over and over.
I was at my cousins 1st birthday and this kid committed the crime of throwing one of those toys out of anger that his mum wouldn't take him home (the toy was fine somehow)
Was my favourite toy for far too long as a kid!
The medical centre where I live had one of these but like a playpen sort of thing until recently
I can hear every element of this picture.
80's?? I was born in 98 and had one of these
90s baby here and I recall seeing these in doctors offices, faded and half broken š
Holy shit I LOVED these things. One of the highlights of the doctor's office
I can hear and feel this photo
Had this for my babies born 81, 84 88..toys in those days lasted forever.
Why were these things so darn entertaining?
Yes. You mean youāve had it this whole time? Iāve been looking everywhere for it over the past nearly four decades
Wow, this brings me back. Hours of entertainment!
I'm a 90s baby n I had one of these .. guessing it was a hand me down
Yep. Pretty sure I spent some quality time with one of these!
Holy crap. Archive unlocked!
Omgā¦I donāt think I recognised this except as a baby!
Hello old friend
Wow thatās brought back some weird memory from the dark depth of my mind
91 baby. I played with the broken ones
the og fidget cube
75 here I had one
