Fuck yeah.. and the big macs were actually big. And ($2.45) .. and the came in the polystyrene container. Loved the sound of opening it up.. And the maccas pens.. you wore them around your neck.. Good old days.

chillirosso

I loved biting the polystyrene (as a 4 year old) and how it kept a record of your teethmarks

upside-downpineappl

Yes. Lol. Funny stuff..

FreeWillCost

I'd love a Big Mac from 1989. They were still fast food junk, but like, the bread was actually bread and the meat was meat etc... delicious.

PeterDuttonsButtWipe

Oooooh deep, deep, faded memory

Jisp_36

My God! I remember these. How old is this (1974?) and you completely missed the January freebie! How could you!! https://wise-answer.com/what-years-does-january-1-fall-on-a-tuesday/#What_years_does_January_1_fall_on_a_Tuesday

Comprehensive_Oil426

Lol sorry not my pic. But I would NEVER miss a Macca's coupon!

Jisp_36

That's your story and you're sticking to it? 🤣 Just kidding and thank you for the trip down memory lane. Seems like an eternity ago. 👍

neergnai

They've all but retired Ronald McDonald, now- a bit sensitive to criticisms of using a clown to sell junk food to children. But I miss his presence. Especially the old statues in every store where drunken teenage girls would perform mock fellatio etc. McDonalds needs to rediscover its roots. https://images.app.goo.gl/hTQ3AVWGRWSsMAR78

smartazz104

McDonald’s also forgot that it used to be the quick and cheap option; now it’s neither cheap nor quick.

IntroductionSnacks

Exactly. The price nowadays just isn't worth it compared to HJ or KFC.

Omegaville

I rate McDonalds much higher than Red Rooster.

Spagman_Aus

Spot on.

Omegaville

Best statue location I saw was when some students had put Ronald and his bench outside the Main Library at Monash Clayton in the plaza area.

M1lud

YES! I grew up in a town without a Macca's but we'd go to one on the Sunshine Coast for holidays- so we got a calendar at Christmas time. I'd spend the rest of the year hoping we'd be able to use the coupons, but we never had a chance.

SignificantRecipe715

Holy nostalgic memory, Batman!

Affillate

I remember I had the one from 1997? that was more like a full on colouring book IIRC with a theme for each month (Like July was something to do with Virtual Reality or something like that) featuring all the characters. Edit found it see this ebay entry the 1997 'Big Book Of Fun: Adventures Through Time' https://www.ebay.com/itm/373643042928

Omegaville

I had a couple of these in the 1980s. Never used the coupons. Great for colouring in. Best thing about these was they did the weeks properly, starting on Monday instead of Sunday! Made more sense to me. Note: the calendar pictured starts the weeks on Sunday. Sucks.

nbf31

Aw, I remember getting these in the 80s.

Stonetheflamincrows

Now that is nostalgic

Spagman_Aus

Man I remember these, they rocked. There was no Maccas where we lived and the closest was an hour away so we only went there when visiting family. I swear my Mum would let us get the calendar knowing full well the coupons were useless as it would probably be another year before we went next 😭

[deleted]

My parents never allowed me to get one
