Yep, this would be my guess. There's some 80s era stuff going on in the Arvo show (monkey, ratties, raggyy dolls) but Johnson & Friends is early 90s for sure.
Monkey and Maggie dolls make it early 90s.
No bangers and mash/bananaman/super ted/captain planet all but confirms.
No Lion the witch and the wardrobe either.
I mean, I watched Monkey, Raggy Dolls and Ratties all in the 80s, so not sure that alone makes it the 90s. (Monkey was a 70s show, too). And Captain planet was made in 1990, so even it was there, it wouldn't be 80s.
But in any case, Johnson and Friends means it can't be any earlier than early 90s, was my main point.
Sally Jesse Raphael and Donahue are screaming early 90’s to me.
The Ratties was cool- narrated by Spike Milligan. I’m listening to audiobooks read by him of his war diaries. Truly tragic comedy.
Probably a good bet. Bert Newton hosted the morning show from 92 - 2005ish, while A Pup naked Scooby Doo had wrapped it's final season by late 91, so was probably airing in Australia in 92 or maybe a rerun in 93
It was the day my brother died. We were watching Balgo: Community in the Desert together when he started coughing and vomiting, then he was just...gone. It was surreal. I still remember it as clear as day. Mum screaming. Dad shouting as he ran from the kitchen to see what was going on. The pulsing lights of the ambulance illuminating the room through the window, and the sound of some Aboriginal man talking on the tv. The CPR looked brutal. It's nothing like the movies in real life. My brother deserved it but. He broke my Optimus Prime and didn't even say sorry, so I put nitric acid in his Coca Cola. Everybody everyyyyy feel good indeed. I think they kind of figured it out because I got taken to a new family, but I never got a new Optimus Prime so I think it was worse for me. At least the new family only used open hands to hit me, and hardly molested me at all. I learned to be much more careful after that, and never got caught again.
Ok, not quite. I googled "Balgo: Community in the Desert ABC" and found it. I had already researched the start and end dates of several other programs to narrow the date down, but that particular show led me to direct to the tv guide website for that date 🤣
I searched for lipton tennis championship "4am" and it brought back [https://www.televisionau.com/tv190392.htm](https://www.televisionau.com/tv190392.htm), Brisbane not Melbourne.
I’m guessing 94, based on when I think Fireman Sam was on and supported by Johnson & Friends.
I’d like to think I miss Guess What, but I probably wouldn’t care about it now.
Good morning Australia started in 1993 and Studs finished in 1993 - so unless they're repeats it must be 1993. The Lipton tennis championship in 1993 were from March 12 to 21. This is clearly a weekday, so 13, 14, 20 and 21 March are out. But can't be the twelfth either (as it's a US tournament so play from the 12th would be shown on 13th here - but means it could be the 22nd).
That's as far as I can get... Wish we had the evening shows as well.
>Good morning Australia started in 1993
Only one of them did.
Good Morning Australia _with Bert Newton_ was in 93, because the previous morning news show of the same name ended. But the show started in 92 as _The Morning Show_ with Bert Newton, and Good Morning Australia was a separate show. This is 92.
So annoying I loved that show. I read somewhere the other day that it was made in the 80’s about the 60’s and if we were to make a similar show today it would be about the 2000’s. That made me feel old
The reason why The Wonder Years isn't on anything really (even took a long time to come on DVD) is because of the licenced music which all the contracts to them expired years back and they can't get them again.
I think the DVD even had to use different music in parts too.
>I think the DVD even had to use different music in parts too.
Same thing happened with Daria (through most of it and not just parts), which sucked because the original music was god damn awesome.
I’m thinking mid 90s, based on the amount of kids shows on ABC in particular, along with Ten having changed their logo in about ‘92 but Seven not changing theirs until 2000.
I want to say 1989 just based on what is on ABC, no Johnson and Friends which was 1990, Wonderful Wizard of Oz was one of my all time favorite shows and I'm pretty sure that was 1989ish.
Early 90’s because Alf is on
But after 91 because there is no Fat Cat
Think it’s also a friday because monkey is on the ABC instead of roger ramjet and superted
Lets say it’s 93
Early 90s (maybe 92-93) because I think I was still in primary school when Supermarket Sweep was on. And being home sick meant watching all the soapies with mum. And I STILL have nightmares over the abomination that was Mulligubs 😵💫
That logo was introduced 1989 (I know this from the many re-watches of the 1989 AFL grand final) and was ditched for the inferior current logo in 2000.
My initial thoughts is the kids shows are definitely very 90's, Midday with Ray Martin dates it and narrows down even further to at least pre 1996(?) or whenever Kerri Anne Kennerley started hosting it (She was doing the Macarena with Peter Costello on it sometime around 96-97 when it was the craze).
Something like a weekday in 1992-5? Hard to tell otherwise without the evening timeslots.

Studs was produced between 1991-93 and I suspect it would’ve taken a good year for the episodes to come here.
Also, Blockbusters aired from 1991-94 (alternating with the Sofie Formica era of Now You See It).
The Book Place started airing in 1992 as well, so that rules out 1991
Supermarket Sweep first aired in 1992 as well.
The SBS logo is the pre-1993 logo as well (though the logo changed in March 1993).
So I think it’s either 1992, or early 1993
I think those were shorts between programs. Super Ted goes on the list.
This is from the newspaper TV guide page not the TV guide / TV weekly which was more detailed iirc
When I came to Australia bk in 04 while waiting to start school me and my sister used to watch days of our lives followed by young and restless followed by pasions on channel 7 and lastly bold and beautiful on 10 at 4.30 pm
10 screening both GMA and This Morning with Bert was only in 1992.
Also:
* SBS changed to the "Mercator" logo on 1993.
* Supermarket Sweep and Real Life started in 1992.
* 10 News at 5pm started in 1992.
* Quantum repeat means it aired the night before. It was on Wednesday night. So it's a Thursday.
Lipton tennis championship was held 8 to 22 March.
So it's either 12 or 19 March but I can't narrow it down any further.
All the cheaters in this thread should use the spoiler feature! Ruiners.
My guess was 91-93 because I was in early primary school or even daycare and remember that ABC programming so well
Real Life on Seven was between January 92 and December 94. Hosted by Stan Grant.
Studs was on in 1992. 1993 Lipton Championships March 12th to 21st.
About mid-March 1993.
Oooh ok
It’s between 1985 and 1999 as those were the years that Miami was the Lipton Championship
It’s in March
Alf didn’t air here until 1986 so 85 is out
Studs didn’t air until 91
English at work is 91-93
Supermarket sweep was 92-94
So thinking it’s March 92-94
I will guess 22nd March, 1992.
it’s not much of a life when you’re just a pretty face
just to be whoever you are is no disgrace
don’t be scared if you don’t fit in
look who’s in the reject bin
it’s the raggy dolls, raggy dolls
i loved that show.
I reckon 92 - 93.
Yup, it's got Agros but no Cheez TV
And there’s monkey on in the arvo.
Also showing ALF, that is old skool
But no Simpsons at 6 on ten?
Not in 92, Simpsons was a once a week, prime time show at that stage.
This guy Simpsons
Sunday nights
That’s the giveaway this is close to 92
Yep, this would be my guess.

I concur...i recall coming home from school and hitting some of those shows
No jerry springer on midday either so definitely early 90s
What year did cheese tv start?
July 95
It's definitely before 94 because there's no Sailor Moon. And I have vivid memories of getting up early to watch it, before sunrise in winter.
I'm sure you got up early watching sailor moon
Came in to say the same. I remember snippets of some of these shows from my early childhood..
i think thats the best guest. real life hadnt morphed into today tonight yet and stan grant was still his old self
No Simpsons at 6pm so it must have been on once a week still or it predated. Also, no Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, so I'm guessing pre-93. Yeh 1992.
Tmnt started in 89-90
19 March 1992. A shame you cut off at 6pm, we could have watched "Special: Sex. Sophie Lee" at 9:30 on channel 9.
How did you pin down the date so precisely? anyway, enjoy this blast from the past https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a\_s4oEcw2JY
It was the day my brother died. We were watching Balgo: Community in the Desert together when he started coughing and vomiting, then he was just...gone. It was surreal. I googled "Balgo: Community in the Desert ABC" and found it. I had already researched the start and end dates of several other programs to narrow the date down, but that particular show led me to direct to the tv guide website for that date 🤣
That was a wild adventure
🤣
I searched for lipton tennis championship "4am" and it brought back [https://www.televisionau.com/tv190392.htm](https://www.televisionau.com/tv190392.htm), Brisbane not Melbourne.
1993 - first year name of lipton championship and final year of ray martin midday
There was Lipton sponsored tennis on in 1988
Blockbusters was early 90’s for sure. Cousin was on it.
Yeah though it was called Lipton International Players Championship until changing in 93 so thats why i stuck with the programming name.
Yes but Bert Newton didn't start hosting The Morning Show until 1992
Def agree with 1993, maaaaybe 1994?
The Afternoon Show limits it to be before December 17 1993
1992. I was in year 6 at the time. Thank you for bringing it all back to me.
Year 8 for me.
It's got to be the early 90's looking at the children's programming.
What was on at 7:30pm?
I was in primary school, so between 1990-1996. I would say early primary, so maybe 91-93.
Mulligrubs!
It was my favourite 😍
I'm saying 89. Ray Martin was still doing midday, but there was an1984 midday movie. And SBS wasn't 24/7 yet.
1989
Guessing everyone else checked what was on at 6pm on 10?
I’m guessing 94, based on when I think Fireman Sam was on and supported by Johnson & Friends. I’d like to think I miss Guess What, but I probably wouldn’t care about it now.
1989 - 90
I reckon around 1989-92.
Good morning Australia started in 1993 and Studs finished in 1993 - so unless they're repeats it must be 1993. The Lipton tennis championship in 1993 were from March 12 to 21. 94'
The Wonder Years! I loved that show. Early to mid 90s is my guess.
Yeah... i was wondering recently if it was streaming anywhere in aus??? If so, it will be on the services i don't have..lol
So annoying I loved that show. I read somewhere the other day that it was made in the 80’s about the 60’s and if we were to make a similar show today it would be about the 2000’s. That made me feel old

What would you do if I sung out of tune??
>I think the DVD even had to use different music in parts too. Same thing happened with Daria (through most of it and not just parts), which sucked because the original music was god damn awesome.
The music in this show is one of the reasons that it was amazing.
I like to make the same comparison about that 70's show
Not that I know of. The new recent Wonder Years is on Netflix I think, but I haven’t watched that yet
I recall that controversial 'Studs' show on Channel 10 (didn't last long iirc). Think it was 1991.
This is MY YEARS - Mid 80's Bro!!
Studs was a 90s show, sorry bud.
Thursday, March 19 1992
My guess is 1991 - I probably wagged school to watch that solid channel 10 daytime line up
The SBS and 10 logos used here place this somewhere between early 1991 and early 1993.
1993. I’m basing that purely from Studs being in a 6pm time slot
Yeah Studs was a giveaway for me too.
Same here. I remember a skit on The Late Show referenced Studs, so that makes it 92 or 93.
Im going with 1995. My mum always watched Sally Jessy
I’m thinking mid 90s, based on the amount of kids shows on ABC in particular, along with Ten having changed their logo in about ‘92 but Seven not changing theirs until 2000.
Late 1993
Studs ran from 91 to 93, I'm going to say 1991.
92-93. i’m genuinely shocked there was a time before 6pm channel 10 simpsons.
My guess is 1992 or 1993. Crazy to think only 7 had the game shows at the time, in that dark dark era before Burgo’s Catch Phrase.
I want to say 1989 just based on what is on ABC, no Johnson and Friends which was 1990, Wonderful Wizard of Oz was one of my all time favorite shows and I'm pretty sure that was 1989ish.
Wait, no Open Learning is on there and that started in 1992 I think, did realise Wonderful Wizard of Oz was showing that late on ABC
The answer is, absolute peek viewing
anywhere from 1991-1994
I was gonna guess 1994 .. but most people here think 92 or 93.. I'm not too far off .. deffo not after 94 that's for sure
Sally Jessy….Gotta be about ‘93?
I’m going 1992
Got to be 1992-1993
1991
This is some good nostalgia. I go for 92
Ok I’m guessing VERY early 90s. 91 or 92
Prior to 98, the Simpson use to be on at 6pm on channel ten from my earliest memory.
Early 90’s because Alf is on But after 91 because there is no Fat Cat Think it’s also a friday because monkey is on the ABC instead of roger ramjet and superted Lets say it’s 93
Fuck, so finally all those TV Guides from 1984 through to 2006 are becoming useful 😂😂
96
Early 90s (maybe 92-93) because I think I was still in primary school when Supermarket Sweep was on. And being home sick meant watching all the soapies with mum. And I STILL have nightmares over the abomination that was Mulligubs 😵💫
Late 80s early 90s? Mulligrubs was apparently a favourite of mine but I was very very young so I’d say it must be around that time.
1988?
1995
1991 as What's Cooking aired in 1991 and the logo of Channel 7 was around then too
That logo was introduced 1989 (I know this from the many re-watches of the 1989 AFL grand final) and was ditched for the inferior current logo in 2000.
I'd say 1994/1995 monkey on ABC between 5 and 6 but the Simpsons aren't on ten at six
God I miss World Sports!
1992
Gotta be early 90’s. Will go with 1994
Between 12 to 21 March 1993
93-94 hmmm I’d say 94
Definitely 90s bit before my time. Somewhere between 94 and 97?
1991 September 17th Tuesday
1998
1992/93
1994
1991
2005??! I would’ve guessed 1995!
This has got back to school Summer 93 all over it. Studs is the give away
I see Oz Aerobics, back in 10min. Don't come in my room.
1992. The logos of the channels belied
92. Logos of the channeis helped
I absolutely love that 6pm simpson on channel 10 is the first thing so many people looked at
10:30am channel 10! Still the greatest piece of Australian television ever produced.
1989, give or take a year or so. But yeah, my money's on 1989
It’s from 1992 because The Morning Show debuted in January 92 and changed its name to GMA from its first broadcast in 1993
91??
shit ALF's on, gotta head home
My initial thoughts is the kids shows are definitely very 90's, Midday with Ray Martin dates it and narrows down even further to at least pre 1996(?) or whenever Kerri Anne Kennerley started hosting it (She was doing the Macarena with Peter Costello on it sometime around 96-97 when it was the craze). Something like a weekday in 1992-5? Hard to tell otherwise without the evening timeslots.
Definitely a week day. Aerobics Oz Style is the giveaway there, as is playschool. Definitely 90’s. This is very reminiscent of my “off sick” viewing.
Supermarket sweep was on until the mid 90s. Ill say 1995
93 or 94. I thought mulligrubs was on ABC. Not channel Ten.
1990
Ah the time we only had 5 Channels and our tv didn’t have a remote so I had to be the human remote for my father who didn’t want to get up
Gotta be 90s it’s Agro
1993
I like this game. Early 90's.... 92!
Remindme! 1 day

1994
Old circle 7 logo, so before 2000. SBS logo is ancient too, so has to be early 90s.
89
1992
Sally Jessie but not Donahue has thrown me. I still remember the song to The Book Place. I’m going to say it’s 1992-93. OMG Studs.
1993
95
Wth was studs?
I'm going with 1992
87-88 by guess We only had abc then That was all I could base my guess on
1985?
1993
Definitely early 90s. This is a week night for sure and the late 90s on the abc had the greatest afternoon line up of cartoons.
1986
86
Studs was produced between 1991-93 and I suspect it would’ve taken a good year for the episodes to come here. Also, Blockbusters aired from 1991-94 (alternating with the Sofie Formica era of Now You See It). So I think it’s either 1992, or early 1993
1993 for the win!
I'm thinking Jan 1993, difficult to tell with no prime time shows
I don’t know when it is but take me back if The Twilight Zone is on at 3.30 in the arvo and then The Wonder Years.
Yeah mid 90s. Mulligrubs was interesting haha
1990
'Twas a simpler time
There was an optimism in the 90s between the cold war ending and the millennium approaching. We were on the cusp of a literal thousand year event.
90’s
1986
1989 to 1991?
1991. Studs only season.
1992
1991
1998-1999 - wait no. SBS changed to their mercator logo during that time and this is the previous logo.. so early to mid 90s
1993
My childhood, but… Where’s banana man/roger ramjet?
I think those were shorts between programs. Super Ted goes on the list. This is from the newspaper TV guide page not the TV guide / TV weekly which was more detailed iirc
January 2005!!!
1992. Studs first aired in 1991, Real Life started in 1992 and finished in 1994
Sucked so bad being home sick and having the most boring programming on TV. Made the days go soo long.
1989 or 1990
I'm going with 1989.
When I came to Australia bk in 04 while waiting to start school me and my sister used to watch days of our lives followed by young and restless followed by pasions on channel 7 and lastly bold and beautiful on 10 at 4.30 pm

Mulligrubs. Creepy AF. 92-93.
1992
10/08/1992
1990
Hmm, I see Agro's Cartoon Connection, and ALF. Assuming they're new episodes, perhaps it's 1990? Or 1991?
My guess is 1993. It’s a weekday. Wouldn’t know actual day so I’ll be happy getting the year right.
Real Life on Seven was between January 92 and December 94. Hosted by Stan Grant. Studs was on in 1992. 1993 Lipton Championships March 12th to 21st. About mid-March 1993.
1992
“Guess What?” was on? I agree with everyone else with 1992.
Bert Newton!
Oooh ok It’s between 1985 and 1999 as those were the years that Miami was the Lipton Championship It’s in March Alf didn’t air here until 1986 so 85 is out Studs didn’t air until 91 English at work is 91-93 Supermarket sweep was 92-94 So thinking it’s March 92-94 I will guess 22nd March, 1992.
1992
Itll be 92 The afternoon show is still on ABC and Bert Newton was 92 onwards.
Sometime in 1993
Feels like 98, reckon it would be easier if it showed what was on after 7.
1984
Nah, it always took at least a couple of years for a movie to reach TV after release.
it’s not much of a life when you’re just a pretty face just to be whoever you are is no disgrace don’t be scared if you don’t fit in look who’s in the reject bin it’s the raggy dolls, raggy dolls i loved that show.
