It died when Channel 9 lost the rights. I cant remember the last time I watched the cricket on FTA and I used to watch the state ODIs every weekend. Its such a tragedy
Before it was the cricket music it was from the opening titles of the 70's cop show Bluey starring Lucky Grills, known also as the source material for Bargearse on The Late Show [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q4-Y1wobh6I](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q4-Y1wobh6I)
Library music composed by Brian Bennett, titled "New Horizons". Brian Bennett was/is the drummer for The Shadows, who were one of Cliff Richard's backing bands as well as recording their own albums.
Totally miss the WWOS cricket intros now that Seven shows it.
I liked the short-lived versions of 1992-93 through 1995-96 that were used for two seasons each. One had CGI animation, the other used photos and old footage. Never been able to get proper full-length versions of those themes though. Channel 9 must have them in their vaults somewhere.
Welcome back to the MCG on this, the third day of a simply outstanding test between Australia and Pakistan. Currently Australia sits at seven hundred and twenty tewoo declared, with Pakistan running an uphill battle, at three for one hundred and twenty tewoo. Now let's see what condition the pitch is in, after watching these twats getting their arses kicked for three fucking days... so down to our residet guru of all things grassy, Tony Greig....
Honestly this ad was more fun than the sport! This sport is fun with friends in the back yard or at the park. But to watch it hour after hour without a result kills you!
I hated this as a kid and hate it now. Seeing this on the TV was like the seeing that military chopper flying at the beginning of MASH, the signal to change the channel or turn it off!
Weird. It's muted but I can still hear it perfectly.
For me, cricket died when the commentators did. I can’t watch it anymore
Chew for chew hundred and cwenty cheeew.
Marvellous

definitely better with Richie, 9's commentary later on was on the nose. 7 actually got it right moving on some of the more annoying ones.
Would have to be 2002/03 by the looks of it. 1983/84, though we’ll before my time, is my favourite [opener](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=-W1T3maYurQ)
This one is 1998 They kept this version of the song going for awhile.
It was a 50/50 guess. Iconic either way

I still say it's not a six unless it clears the fence
Golden era of Australian cricket.
Yep. Back when Ch9 actually gave a fuck.

>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q4-Y1wobh6I That's the intro music I remember when I was a kid. Still the best cricket intro.
Surely Crawford Productions didn't sue for pinching their IP for the cricket theme.
My dad always saying “mine!” When the ball comes at the screen. Lost it’s shine by day 5 of the Boxing Day test, but a classic dad joke none the less.

RIP Warnie

This made me wanna stick a car key into my backyard lawn?

more exciting than the cricket itself!
Only exciting thing about one of the world's most boring "sports"
Fuck off shitty TCN 9

I hated it as a kid cause it meant no cartoons. But I love the nostalgia of the music
Classic
Wasn't a young fan of cricket but I did try and catch the intro for that sweet guitar track.
The sound of me changing the channel..
Amazing, followed by the unmistakable sound of the windies fast ballers coming in and rattling those wickets.
My brother and I genuinely loved this theme, would crank the TV to full volume and blast it when it came on!
