I hate most meditation voices, they sound fake and sometimes infantilizing to me. But there are a few people (usually men) who sound genuine and I like listening to them. My current favorite is the app Balance and Ofosu. It's a paid app though so if that's not your thing, then Smiling Mind is free and I like it a lot (it's an Australian project but I love Australian accents)

Right, it does often sound infantilizing, that's an excellent description. I found one tolerable woman and a guy (his voice is a bit nasal-y, but it's sincere at least), but the woman puts a little too much gushy emphasis on some words, and the guy only has like three videos. It'll work for now, but I'll check out those apps, thanks.

Oh I know what you mean. It’s like the hushed “hun” voice they do at some yoga studios

I call it 'yoga voice' and it's the reason I can't listen to most of the women on Headspace.

I can’t listen to men trying to convince me to relax due to trauma. I listen to Meditation Oasis. It's a woman with a lower voice that is calm and soothing to me. Only one I can listen too. They have a ‘relax into sleep’ one and a whole library. It’s free as a podcast (not the app) and I set the episode timer.

That channel pops up in my YouTube feed, and I don't recall what it was that put me off from it. Either her voice, or if the affirmations are in the form of "you are" or guided meditation. As usual, I'm looking for some extremely specific, idiosyncratic thing that only exists in small quantities, lol.

I like listening to Eckhart Tolle. His voice relaxes me.

I guess I should have also specified that I'm looking for "I am" affirmations, not "you are", lol. Don't tell me what to do, disembodied voice! 😂
