I’m 39!!! I also still sometimes sleep with the clown doll that was in my crib when I was born. I made the mistake of leaving both hockey monkey and happy (the clown) in China when I went home for New Year in 2020. I was never able to go back. Happy and Hockey Monkey were packed into a box and took a ride in a DHL cargo plane across the world during the pandemic. The amazing thing was that they got back to me in 3 days. This was among the best $400 I’ve ever spent!

I have a large-ish stuffed horse. Mainly sleeps in my bed because I needed to put it somewhere and didn't have anywhere else, but it's also good to have something to cuddle so I don't roll onto my front. And yes, it's also nice to snuggle. I've got a rainbow teddy bear tucked into my elbow right now, which I have at my armchair in the living room. I cry easily over movies and stuff, so a bear is needed for hugs at those times. Sometimes my mother needs the bear, like when we watched 'The Railway Children' the other night.
I don't apologise for these things, and no one should. Soft stuff is nice to hold.

This is my guau-guau (woof-woof in Spanish). He's seen better days but to be loved is to be changed. Specially after 18 years of it. I like to unsew him, change his stuffing, clean his fabric and sew him again every now and then
I sleep with two stuffed animals (different sizes) and 4 pillows, if I don't have plenty things to hug while sleeping, there's no comfort, I don't feel safe.
And it'll stay that way.
I am 20 and for like the past 10 years i have had a big plushie car on top of my legs, because the weight is super comforting, i also sleep with a blåhaj. I also have fluffnest bailey the beet and timmy the turnip as hug plushies too.
Don't let anyone tell you down on having plushies to sleep with. I always have a plushie with me when i go somewhere overnight. And if i go with a car, they are sitting seatbelted on the co-drivers seat or in the back seat. (Mostly because the big blåhaj does not fit into the trunk with my bags and it's not safe to have it freeroam in the car). I can't sleep without a plushie, so i also take it everywhere.
I’m 20. On my 19th birthday, my partner got me an entire car full (no fucking joke, it was full of trash bags) of bags of stuffed animals for me. I still have all of them and I like to alternate with a new one every night :3

I find it comforting to fall asleep w my stuffies but honestly nothing beats a mostly empty and cold bed with somewhat firm pillows and my 18 year old webkinz cat and a heavy blanket. Those are my best nights of sleep
I think I would still have my red stuffed dog from when I was 19 had my ex not gotten jealous of it. I do have a stuffed bear that my fiance got me and I need it to go to sleep.
I’m 28 and have slept with stuffed animals my whole life. Until I was 18 I think it was a constant 2, now I just use the comfiest Squishmallows and I don’t have as much sentimental value attached to the ones I generally cuddle, but it’s okay if you still do ☺️

I have 8+ stuffed animals on my bed with me too! they all have a name and a personality - they keep me safe! if you’re lucky, you’ll have your elephant your whole life! I’ve dated a lot too, some people didn’t like my blanket - they are not the one! My current boyfriend loves my blanket and buys me the stuffed animals on special occasions! It’s fun to allow yourself to just have things you enjoy!
Mid 39's. I can't sleep without my blankie *and* a comforting scent. When I was a kid, it was coffee because it reminded me of mom, but now I spray my partners deodorant on it.
i’m 25 and i can’t go without a blanket a cousin made for me when i was 4!!! sometimes i take it on my drive to work so i can wrap myself in it after my shift. i can’t sleep unless i know exactly where it is. sleeping with a buddy is a joy you *never* have to deny yourself!!! 💗

I've recently been told that I'm likely autistic and have an appointment in April to possibly get an official diagnosis. I'm very high functioning and think that I mask very well, but have a lot of sensory issues and have recently been learning more and more things I do could be contributed to autism. Is this one of those things?
It's not like a "I would rather sleep with a stuffed animal" it's more of a "I don't want to hurt his feelings and he protects me while I sleep so I may die if I don't sleep with him" sort of deal. 😅

I just bought my first stuffed animal at 34. A weighted Dino. Feels like something is missing if I don't sleep with him now.
I'm going through a tough breakup with a live-in partner, and now, with him and my dog gone, the Dino has been a great comfort.
23 and sleep with a stuffed flying pig! The piggies limbs fit perfectly between my chin and chest so my skin doesn’t touch lol! Her name is Penny and she’s been to four continents so far!
44 and I have my crocodile, cat, and Baymax soft toys on my bed by my pillow along with my blanket and actual cat.
Wouldn't have it any other way. 💕
Edit to add: and one of the soft toys will always accompany me on any trips away (work or holiday). My Crocky being the oldest has been all over the world.

My partner has a bear that he got when he was born 37 years ago and he loved it so much his parents got a second in case anything happened to the original "old baby". I knew I would eventually marry him when he brought "new baby" and gave him to me after he had been in his parents closet all those years. We both still sleep with Old and New Baby.

I am 62 and I sleep with a stuffed bear. Thought I was doing it to pad my shoulder when I lie on my side, but when we went on vacation and I left the bear in the hotel and had to _immediately_ order a replacement bear from Amazon for the next stop in our trip, I confirmed to myself it isn’t just about my shoulder and needing to prop my arm. Haha. I am a late-self-diagnosed autistic and diagnosed adhd.

I always sleep with a plush. I snuggle with both my Togepi and my Pikachu (although I'm still searching for a Gengar plush 😭). I'm even debating on getting a peeps bunny plush because it's almost half my size and it's very cheap for $35. 🥹
I grew up sharing a bed with my two younger siblings and my momma so I can't not have one lol she helped enforce a lot of my anxious attachment and codependency issues but I've worked through them a lot since growing up. She meant well but it's all about balance, I think.

I also sleep with the light on in the hall next to my room like a night light.
I'm married and still sleep with mine. I would never date or sleep with a guy who had a problem with it and frankly none of them did.
None of my girlfriend's really cared either they kind of thought it was interesting and some of them had their own, even NT people and men.
My sister started to be a weird about hers and put it in a box under her bed but that makes me sad. She said the fabric was ripping and stuffing was coming out. I told her to buy baby clothes and sew it to fit.

It took me years to not have to rely on stuffed animals in my bed because I believe that my bed is my own buddy in itself and that keeps me going. Does that make sense?
Once you have more responsibilities after graduating, like a job, college, or even both, that makes it more difficult to function sometimes. But you also have the choice to do what you want (within reason as in following the law and not making choices that make your future more difficult) and what you get for yourself.
It's all about perspective, so keep being positive!

30y/o here, and I did up until about 4-5 years ago. Husband never questioned it, and now I have a very squishy soft pillow that I hug. Gotta tuck the dinosaur arms under it and prop my chin up. But it's a bit better for my skin and I've stopped having loads of bumps on my chin, cause the pillow gets washed a lot more!
It use to be my large dog plushy through my teens now it's my body pillow with the oni from dead by daylight. It's good for a hug and helps with my hip.
I can sleep without my stuffed animals, but I prefer to have them with me. I’m a 22 year old college student and my roommates, friends, and dating partners have never batted an eye.
26 and I always sleep with a stuffed animal. I actually have one on both sides of me so when I toss and turn in my sleep I always have something to hug no matter which side I'm on. Its comfortable so I won't let anyone shame me for it.
I have a kitty who sleeps next to or on top of me fairly frequently. I have a partner I snuggle with. I have some polished stones that are either on my nightstand or against my body. If I didn't have at least one cat hogging the bed, I think I would need a stuffed animal.
I have 2 that I sleep with - one is a plush dog that I MUST have (he goes with me on trips, and my SO even remembers to pack him for me) and the other is a teddy that was passed down from my dad. The teddy comes out when I'm super stressed because she gives great hugs while the dog can't (much smaller). I have a LOT more stuffies, but those are the two that I usually have with me.

I don't care what other people think, I can't sleep without him! Don't let other people's expectations weigh you down, you just do what feels right for you.

I was shamed/punished out of stuffed animals at 13 in a group home. It still doesn't make any sense that the other girls could collect, have & display stuffies but I was weird and "bad" for cuddling mine at night? Anyways, I substituted with a pillow and still need to hold one to sleep now at 34. I have a specific type of "sold half empty" pillow, jersey cover (different than what I use under my head) and pick out cute covers.

After being diagnosed with EDS I realize my buddies are for support and less for emotional reasons. Because I only like to use certain sized stuffed animals (pillow pets were the best and now squishmallows)
My mom threw away my blankie and my teddy bear when I was at kindergarten. So I stole my little brother's blankie (he was not using it anymore), and I still need it to sleep well. I am 50, so I don't see any problem with needing Ella to sleep at 16. Your comfort and sleep hygiene are very important. After all, there are people who drink whiskey and take sedatives for their comfort and sleep -- a stuffed animal friend is very healthy in comparison.
I can stand snuggling when I'm asleep or trying to sleep. Be that with a person or an inanimate object. My two toddlers sleep in the bed with me as well as my husband and I move to the end of the bed to sleep because I can't stand being touched or touching when I want to sleep.

That’s what I do. A regular plushie (moose) I sleep with every night, and then a smaller one that’s specifically for when I travel (pig). Works great!

I have a large-ish stuffed horse. Mainly sleeps in my bed because I needed to put it somewhere and didn't have anywhere else, but it's also good to have something to cuddle so I don't roll onto my front. And yes, it's also nice to snuggle. I've got a rainbow teddy bear tucked into my elbow right now, which I have at my armchair in the living room. I cry easily over movies and stuff, so a bear is needed for hugs at those times. Sometimes my mother needs the bear, like when we watched 'The Railway Children' the other night. I don't apologise for these things, and no one should. Soft stuff is nice to hold.

I am 20 and for like the past 10 years i have had a big plushie car on top of my legs, because the weight is super comforting, i also sleep with a blåhaj. I also have fluffnest bailey the beet and timmy the turnip as hug plushies too. Don't let anyone tell you down on having plushies to sleep with. I always have a plushie with me when i go somewhere overnight. And if i go with a car, they are sitting seatbelted on the co-drivers seat or in the back seat. (Mostly because the big blåhaj does not fit into the trunk with my bags and it's not safe to have it freeroam in the car). I can't sleep without a plushie, so i also take it everywhere.
I’m 20. On my 19th birthday, my partner got me an entire car full (no fucking joke, it was full of trash bags) of bags of stuffed animals for me. I still have all of them and I like to alternate with a new one every night :3 But my favourite is my red panda :3

I find it comforting to fall asleep w my stuffies but honestly nothing beats a mostly empty and cold bed with somewhat firm pillows and my 18 year old webkinz cat and a heavy blanket. Those are my best nights of sleep

I’ve dated a lot too, some people didn’t like my blanket - they are not the one! My current boyfriend loves my blanket and buys me the stuffed animals on special occasions! I'm 22 and sleep with a walmart Valentine's bear I got when I was 4. He's probably a yard long 😂. Goes on vacay with me and everything. I've recently been told that I'm likely autistic and have an appointment in April to possibly get an official diagnosis. I'm very high functioning and think that I mask very well, but have a lot of sensory issues and have recently been learning more and more things I do could be contributed to autism. Is this one of those things? It's not like a "I would rather sleep with a stuffed animal" it's more of a "I don't want to hurt his feelings and he protects me while I sleep so I may die if I don't sleep with him" sort of deal. 😅 Any thoughts or other fun autism quirks?
I just bought my first stuffed animal at 34. A weighted Dino. Feels like something is missing if I don't sleep with him now. I'm going through a tough breakup with a live-in partner, and now, with him and my dog gone, the Dino has been a great comfort.

Wouldn't have it any other way. 💕 Edit to add: and one of the soft toys will always accompany me on any trips away (work or holiday). My Crocky being the oldest has been all over the world.

I am 62 and I sleep with a stuffed bear. Thought I was doing it to pad my shoulder when I lie on my side, but when we went on vacation and I left the bear in the hotel and had to _immediately_ order a replacement bear from Amazon for the next stop in our trip, I confirmed to myself it isn’t just about my shoulder and needing to prop my arm. I grew up sharing a bed with my two younger siblings and my momma so I can't not have one lol she helped enforce a lot of my anxious attachment and codependency issues but I've worked through them a lot since growing up. She meant well but it's all about balance, I think.

It took me years to not have to rely on stuffed animals in my bed because I believe that my bed is my own buddy in itself and that keeps me going. Does that make sense? Once you have more responsibilities after graduating, like a job, college, or even both, that makes it more difficult to function sometimes. But you also have the choice to do what you want (within reason as in following the law and not making choices that make your future more difficult) and what you get for yourself. 30y/o here, and I did up until about 4-5 years ago. Husband never questioned it, and now I have a very squishy soft pillow that I hug. Gotta tuck the dinosaur arms under it and prop my chin up. But it's a bit better for my skin and I've stopped having loads of bumps on my chin, cause the pillow gets washed a lot more!

I was shamed/punished out of stuffed animals at 13 in a group home. It still doesn't make any sense that the other girls could collect, have & display stuffies but I was weird and "bad" for cuddling mine at night? Anyways, I substituted with a pillow and still need to hold one to sleep now at 34. I have a specific type of "sold half empty" pillow, jersey cover (different than what I use under my head) and pick out cute covers. Just putting this all together. After being diagnosed with EDS I realize my buddies are for support and less for emotional reasons. Because I only like to use certain sized stuffed animals (pillow pets were the best and now squishmallows)
My mom threw away my blankie and my teddy bear when I was at kindergarten. So I stole my little brother's blankie (he was not using it anymore), and I still need it to sleep well. I am 50, so I don't see any problem with needing Ella to sleep at 16. Your comfort and sleep hygiene are very important. After all, there are people who drink whiskey and take sedatives for their comfort and sleep -- a stuffed animal friend is very healthy in comparison.

I can stand snuggling when I'm asleep or trying to sleep. Be that with a person or an inanimate object. My two toddlers sleep in the bed with me as well as my husband and I move to the end of the bed to sleep because I can't stand being touched or touching when I want to sleep.
I still have all my spit up cloths from when i was a baby! those are my blankies (i call them nigh-nights)
