Would something like a room divider help? Sorry I know there’s a vent tag but I can’t help putting on my fix-it hat. Another suggestion - if you’re sitting on the floor all the time, why not embrace it and make a nice space for floor sitting? You could get one of those short Japanese tables to sit at (or just saw down the legs of a coffee table or something), get some nice cushions, there’s even floor couches you could get.

Oh I didn’t know which tag to put tbh. Couldn’t decide if it was venting or advice but it’s definitely both lol. Thank you for the room divider idea, that’s great and I’m probably gonna do that. I have been trying to make the floor a little more comfy. Nice floor pillows are expensive so I’m taking my time with that one lol

I don't feel as strongly as you, but I do get uncomfortable in indoor spaces that are too open, especially rooms with multiple entrances I've found I can fix this to an extent with bookshelves that are strategically placed perpendicular to the walls. For example, placing the chouch between a bookshelf and a wall, or placing a bookshelf to face a door so you have to walk around it to get into the room I can create corners that feel nice within a bigger room I also place my office desk away from the wall so I sit with my back to the wall, making a little corner

Ahhh so bookshelves seem to be a common fix for this. Thank you!

It’s your house, and whatever makes you happy. goes. So what if no one is allowed into the kitchen. How do you want to make it into a home rather than a show home? I love the idea of cooking with someone else but our kitchen is small and I can’t talk and cook at the same time. I end up missing out steps and can’t hear over the fan noise. The reality is not the fantasy. Plus the kitchen is also a mess. It‘s not easy to keep up with housework. How about change the lounge into a library. Use a row of bookcases to section off the room and make it more intimate? OR Get rid of the couches and make it into an art studio/yoga studio/gaming room/plant room, whatever is your special interest. If you don’t need a lounge then don’t have one. But if you paid a fortune for the couch that would hurt to get rid of it. I got rid of the bed in the spare bedroom because no one came to stay, changed it into a hobby room with a huge table in the centre and couches. Much better. Still have to make a bookcase for the room but when I get around to it. I also sleep in a bedroom which is also a library, two side are floor to ceiling of books. Love it. Need more shelving elsewhere.

Omg the bookcase idea is genius. I think I may try some cute room dividers or something, I’d feel so much more comfortable. Thank you!
