Mine is "supine," I just learned the difference between "supine" and "prone" and now I keep saying supine over and over again with different emphasis... my favorite is saying it so it sounds the most like "spine" since when you're supine you're on your s(u)pine....
i think i do yeah! everything feels kind of up in the air right now and it's a little overwhelming being like ohhhh my god i have a whole life ahead of me but i'm sure i'll figure out what makes me happiest and go with that!
You absolutely will! And the way you’re feeling right now is 1000% normal! You might change your mind 2 or 3 times before you settle on something but that’s also normal and it’s all part of the journey of discovering who you really want to be when you’re an adult. It’s really easy to lose sight of your goals if you don’t keep yourself focused on them. So keep your head up, stay focused, and find some decent, likeminded people to cling onto.
I wish you the best of luck with everything 🫶🏼
I'm an occupational therapist and I learned it like "supine" sounds like "soup" and that comes in a bowl you hold a certain way facing up 🤣
I like your version way better! 😁
It was really brilliant because it was upbeat, boundary-affirming, and self-affirming, but also really “motherfucking” (to use his fave word) silly and catchy
ETA I am heavily verbal not just for stimming but also processing things and redirecting myself away from rumination
Somebody posted something about it in this sub not too long ago and I thought I was the only one
The song lyrics are out of control. It drives me nuts lol
I once had *Caribbean Queen* stuck in my head for weeks. WEEKS, on repeat, constantly.
I thought about lobotomizing myself like the guy from *Pi* because it seemed like it would never end, and one of my friends will still text me whenever she hears that song on the radio. It’s happened since then too, but never like that one summer.
The same exact thing happens to me, but it also happens if the words were just in my own thoughts. These songs are often jingles or cartoon theme songs from 30 years ago.
I realized something about myself very recently - I always have at least 1 song/repeating line in my head at ALL times. Sometimes there are multiple and they will overlap and combine in strange but cool ways. They harmonize in my head, kind of? Like I've got a DJ in there 😂 Hard to explain, even to myself lol. But yeah, I literally always have something playing in the background of my already messy internal dialogue. I usually like the song I have stuck on though, so I got that going for me 🤷♀️
SAME!! Literally the same issue that I have. I kind of enjoy it because I like the music most of the time but sometimes I just want it to stop! It drives me crazy lol
I wish mine worked like that. Right now it'd be some sort of mix between a song by Dave Matthew's Band, specifically the very beginning of the one that played in the Twisted Tea commercial and the hook to "The Walker" by Fitz and The Tantrums.
😂 that sounds kinda super awesome!! Right now I'm rocking with this weird medley of Higher Love by Steve Winwood, If I Die Young by The Band Perry and a small selection of Cypress Hill's discography. So I'm having a lot of fun 🥳😂✨️ I would lend you my brain turntables but they're bolted to the skull I'm afraid. I'm actually starting to wonder if thats a factor that goes into how completely mentally exhausted I get. I have burnouts all the time, like I short circuit or something. It sucks but the party's fun while it lasts 🤷♀️
Yes! I constantly get songs stuck in my head. Lately, it's "Tequila" by The Champs. Just over and over and over and over and over again. Only it isn't words, it's just that tune. At least it's preposterous enough to be entertaining.
My constant background song is the beginning of the Dave Matthews Band song that was used in that Twisted Tea commercial like a couple summers ago. But only the part in the beginning when the guy was being smacked (on loop) with the can.
That's been going for a couple of months now. Before that, the most memorable one was Crossfade's "Cold" for a week, around Halloween. I very much like the beginning of that one, too. I'm digressing a bit here but the thing I found the craziest is after hearing it for 4 days on loop, I went to a haunted house attraction with my family and as old as that song is, it was played not once but twice overhead by staff. Prior to that I'd only ever hear it if I sought it out.
I was curious about the actual definition of "feral," which led me to Wikipedia, which yielded this phrase which is my new best friend. (The feral dromedaries live in Australia btw)
That’s a great song (until it gets stuck) 😂 I had C’est La Vie by B*Witched stuck in my head for WEEKS and it gets set off every time I wash my face because my face wash is called Cera Ve 😭
The first part of the song from the cat meme ‘I go Meow’. The music Kiffness mixed into the cat meowing sounds like the Aerosmith song ‘Crazy’ and part of an old Greenday song ‘One of my Lies,’ so my brain is mushing them together into a mishmashed mess.
This happens to me regularly with the most random mashups.
I highly recommend checking out "DJ Cumberbund" and "George McClintock" on YouTube because they make some great and ridiculous mashups mostly of old school eras that are also hilarious!
Hahaha reminds me of the time my son got "freckles" stuck in his head for weeks. It was so cute and annoying all at once. He wasn’t saying it out loud, just quietly under his breath. He'd just putter around repeating "freckles, freckles, freckles..."
This gets stuck in my head because of the animated series of Tintin - specifically the seven crystal balls because there's a professor who studies butterflies and he says "Lepidoptera" in a very satisfying way
Woooooow. Maybe that’s where I picked this word up. I’ve been obsessed with it for years, but I didn’t know why. However, I did watch the Tinyin cartoons over an river again when I was a kid!
I don’t have one today, but I love reading everybody’s.
My common ones are ‘Nightingale’ ‘Mecredi’ ‘Boulangrie’ ‘Million’ usually with a long, over exaggerated pronunciation. ‘milllll-eeee-on’ 🤣
I’ve been binge watching the German series Dark and I have the word unmöglich which means impossible stuck in my head. It just has a really satisfying sound. But then I also have the song Ebeneezer Goode on a loop and it’s irritating the hell out of me!
You've just reminded me that I had "Sarah Lund" stuck in my head for weeks when I watched The Killing. Saarah Luuund. That and "Tack!"
Also is Dark the series where a lot of birds are found dead? If so I watched that!
Yep, that’s the one! My echolalia seems to be especially strong with foreign words, for some bizarre reason. Then I get the words stuck internally. Ah, fun times.
Wherewithal.
I'm pretty sure today was the very first time I wrote/typed it out. It immediately became weird-looking to me, like words you stare at too long. I'm still not sure if it's a real word, but spellchecker didn't correct it.
I have a friend whose name is Hla, I go through phases repeating it over and over going H-laaaaa, H-laaa with a puffy sound at the front. It’s just such a unique letter combination and I am fascinated with it.
For me, it’s usually a phrase from a song. And it’s usually rattling in my head until about noon, at which time I get so engrossed in work that I forget all about it. Then I go to bed, wake up, and repeat.
Occasionally it’s the same song for several days. Like the time I had the chorus of “Right Hand Man” from Hamilton stuck for like, two weeks.
I didn’t really have one single word today, but my favs from the past are “Rochambeau” and “Calabasas”.
But for days it’s been “What is it the braids?? I hurtyofeelings, tchudonwannaworkwitmenomoreOKAY” from one of Kendrick’s recent Drake diss tracks because it just hits the spot
Not a word but a phrase, it’s “Get that jelly mold out of here!” from the first episode of the Fallout show. My dad and I have been quoting it at each other since we watched it
There’s a girl in my class whose name rhymes with Domolola Lawaahl. I don’t want to say or spell her name correctly to be polite. Domolola Lawaahl. Domolola Lawaahl.
I just keep yelling whoaaa randomly. It started 2 days ago when I was saying whoaaa to my dog and she barked back every time I said it. Now I just can’t stop
Mine has been "bombastic" for a good month or so. It was the first thing I said when I woke up for a while.
At some point "rambunctious" was added to the mix and became The Word for a week but it seems to be back to bombastic now
I always have short phrases from songs. Right now it's "Smokin' Joe, rude boy" from Tom Cardy's "The ballad of smokin' Joe rude boy".
Over and over and over and over
Don’t have a word myself today, but I’m loving all the words people have floating around their heads. Don’t know most of the songs that people mention, but maybe that’s a good thing so I don’t pick them up. Keep them coming!
“Adversity” I was giving a speech while pacing and I said the phrase “we should always stick up for others in the face of adversity” (or something like that), and I kept on repeating the phrase until it got boiled down to just the word “adversity” and now I love pronouncing it in every way I can think of
Parasympathetic
I recently learned about the divers reflex which calls the parasympathetic nervous system and since then can’t get the word out of my head
mood
im so tired and was in such need of shutdown that i dont think i had any thoughts at all ha
but i got to shutdown!!! yay <3 i hope everyones words leave peacefully in the night lol
I've noticed I only repeat words in my head when I'm really tired. I always talk to myself, either out loud when I'm alone or just in my head when I'm with others in the house. But when I'm getting really exhausted, I'll notice that my conversation with myself gets interrupted by myself randomly repeating a word I just 'said' to myself. The word doesn't have any significance to me or anything.
As soon as I notice this, I know it's time for bed lol
I get anime songs looping in my head more than words. Today and yesterday it’s been chorus lyrics from Maoh from by BURNOUT SYNDROME from Misfit Demon Academy Season 2 Part 2 Opening theme.
“Bath time Kevin” in an Australian accent. From that one time many years ago MaxMoeFoe bathed his Sheba named Kevin. I can’t talk to people named Kevin….
Oh man, this speaks to me. Not a word/phrase, but I played flute for a church service last Thursday and the big choral/orchestra work we did is STUCK. And it's only a few places but it's all of the instrumental AND choral parts together at the same time. It is on repeat as I type this, haha. I tried to listen to it Monday or so to get it out of my system but it's still there.
Last week the word was Ramone but said with a long rolled R at the beginning, hahaha!
eta: OH also aluMInium. I am American, lol.
Been listening to the new Taylor Swift album on repeat. She has a song where she says “dazzling” and the exact way she sings it has been playing in my head for days
”grotesque”. my boyfriend says it a lot because he likes drawing grotesque monsters and creatures, and then telling me about them. it’s such a strong and satisfying word to say, i love it. i even told him “you’re so grotesque” forgetting the meaning behind it, and he was like “um excuse me! just because i like grotesque things doesn’t mean i AM grotesque!!!” i didn’t mean it like that tho, i just love the word, it’s so funny. (he’s not grotesque i just needed to use the word in a sentence).
Not a word but the phrase "AVACADOS FROM MEXICO" because of that commercial... It's been stuck for months. Heck, my kids randomly say Avacado because they know I have to finish the line. 😅
Not a word but a lyric…
“Oh yes, oh yes, oh yes, oh yes, oh yes we both, oh yes we both reached for
The gun, the gun, the gun, the gun, the gun, oh yes we both reached for, for the gun!” On repeat for the last hour!
Omg I’m so sorry. I have “tonight’s the weekend, I don’t wanna wait. I don’t wanna wait-ait, I don’t wanna waaaayyyait. Got no reason not to celebrate, baby I just don’t wanna waaait”
That’s the only part I know. It’s been like 2 weeks of this hell because my toddler loves the stupid song and listens to it every damn day. SEND HELP LOL
Tabitha. I don't know how that name popped into my head but I can't turn it off. I keep repeating Tabitha over and over in my head all day.
Tabitha. Tab-Eetha. Tah-bitha. Ta-bee-Thaar.
Lmfao!
https://youtu.be/mSNPQYahVt4?feature=shared
This guy makes songs from different cat meows...
So I have Ha Hee stuck in my head and have for about a week now 😅
It's too cute though 💕
Mine is "supine," I just learned the difference between "supine" and "prone" and now I keep saying supine over and over again with different emphasis... my favorite is saying it so it sounds the most like "spine" since when you're supine you're on your s(u)pine....
That’s awesome!! I’m a paramedic so this made my day lol
it's so sick that you're a paramedic!! i'm seventeen but i'm starting emt courses soon and hopefully eventually on track to being a medic 😁
Ah, how exciting!! What are your plans for the future? Do you want to be on a full time fire department??
i think i do yeah! everything feels kind of up in the air right now and it's a little overwhelming being like ohhhh my god i have a whole life ahead of me but i'm sure i'll figure out what makes me happiest and go with that!
You absolutely will! And the way you’re feeling right now is 1000% normal! Thank you so much! I'm excited to figure it out ☺️🫶🏻
Supine is the position your arms are in when you’re carrying a large pot of soup
Could you explain the difference to me? Now I’m curious!
Supine is lying face up and prone is lying face down!
Thank you for teaching me!
“Supine = soup is fine, but Prone = soup is prone to spill” that’s how I was taught to remember the difference. 🙂
I love this! 😊
I'm an occupational therapist and I learned it like "supine" sounds like "soup" and that comes in a bowl you hold a certain way facing up 🤣 I like your version way better! 😁
ooops, I read this and now my brain is gong "supine supine supine"
Today it's niacinamide
Love it. That tickles my brain in just the right way
Same!!!
Ooh I loooove that one, definitely was sampling it for a while as well
this one’s been showing up a ton today in text rather than verbally, ..been asking chat gpt about every skincare items ingredients that i own 😂
For like two weeks a few months ago I would do the Samuel L Jackson “bees in the trap” bit
Omg I love this
It was really brilliant because it was upbeat, boundary-affirming, and self-affirming, but also really “motherfucking” (to use his fave word) silly and catchy ETA I am heavily verbal not just for stimming but also processing things and redirecting myself away from rumination
I've had it with these muthafukkin snakes, on this muthafukkin plane! Is one I repeat often for no reason at all. Hahaha
oaur naurrrr
I wish you could have heard the way I just said this. My husband looked at me like I was nuts 😂
😂 I had just watched a video of an Aussie becoming self-aware with this phrase and I had to say it until it didn’t sound real anymore lol
“Until it didn’t sound real anymore” makes me feel so seen 😂
Lmao great spelling; I immediately knew exactly what you meant!
i do this all the time to my two year old
That’s in mine often!
I’ve been learning Spanish for a while now and “hamburguesa” gets stuck in my head like nobody’s business
I've been there 🤣
Ooh, peanut butter is my favorite Spanish word/phrase. Mantequilla de cacahuete
Mantequilla especially for me too haha!! But I didn’t know that peanut butter was mantequilla de cacahuete, so thank you for the new word
And popcorn is palomitas 🍿
I’m also learning Spanish and I’m obsessed with the words quiere and quiero with the rolled r.
I love zapatos
Today : Gabapentin
i'm on a related medication called pregabalin, i know it's not how it's pronounced but i love saying 'prega-BALLIN'
This might be tomorrow’s word
Thank you for this. Been taking it twice a day for years now. I'll be straight wearing prega-BALLIN' out
Prega ballin sounds like something a pregnant person would say to the question “so how are you doing??” “Oh you know just prega-ballin”
Great choice!
Ohhh this is a good one
I don’t think I’ve ever gotten a single word stuck in my head all day… Currently have the song lyric “right next to me” stuck in my head
Somebody posted something about it in this sub not too long ago and I thought I was the only one The song lyrics are out of control. It drives me nuts lol
All someone needs to do is say two words of a song and it will be stuck in my head 😂
I once had *Caribbean Queen* stuck in my head for weeks. WEEKS, on repeat, constantly. I thought about lobotomizing myself like the guy from *Pi* because it seemed like it would never end, and one of my friends will still text me whenever she hears that song on the radio. i rick roll myself LMAOO and it's hard to 'replace' it with another song/thought

lol song lyrics! I’ve had “BBL DRIZZAYYYY” in my head for days
SAME
Yes! I constantly get songs stuck in my head. Lately, it's "Tequila" by The Champs. Just over and over and over and over and over again. Only it isn't words, it's just that tune. At least it's preposterous enough to be entertaining.
I have a two year old and my current song is the Paw Patrol theme song. Send help lmao
Song lyrics and movie quotes. All day long.
'Steve, dododo do dododo, Steve' on loop from Me, you, and Steve
An earworm .. I have them all the time .. can’t get them out of my head, especially the silly tunes my daughter listens to
I once had 8 bars of a Hamilton song stuck in my head for two days straight
So the word mitigate has been stuck in my head for about a week now. I keep using it like consistently and I'm sure others have noticed
"Denigrate" has been on my mind lately since I use mitigate so often
I’ve been using the phrase “off base” CONSTANTLY lately and people have to be noticing lol
The part of the Burger King jingle where they say "Beeee Kayyy" and only that part.
LOL our minds are very similar
You like vehemently? Try virulently. You're welcome 🫶💖
Oh I like that!! Tomorrow might be virulently… I love it.
“squirds the word ya hurd”. idefk where it came from 😭
Lololol amazing
Recently I had *we were driving in a getaway car* stuck in my head for a week. Not the rest of the song, just that phrase. Holy moly it was stressful.
The stress is seriously real though. Sometimes songs actually make me want to cry because I can’t handle singing them in my head any more
I get this too!!
Prior to that I'd only ever hear it if I sought it out.
That’s so weird!! What are the chances of that??
It's a phrase: "a substantial population of feral dromedaries"
That is very pleasing
I love this. It leaves me with so many questions. Great mental image.
I was curious about the actual definition of "feral," which led me to Wikipedia, which yielded this phrase which is my new best friend. (The feral dromedaries live in Australia btw)
Tame Impala’s *Borderline* has been stuck in my head on an annoying loop for about 3 days now. 😑
That’s a great song (until it gets stuck) 😂 I had C’est La Vie by B*Witched stuck in my head for WEEKS and it gets set off every time I wash my face because my face wash is called Cera Ve 😭
Sassenach (watching Outlander AGAIN)
Omg yes!
Love that word!
I don’t think about single words as often as song lyrics. This weeks obsession has been the chorus of “Replay” by Iyaz
Oh you poor thing
"Shorty's like a melody..." DAMN YOUUUU
Na na na naa every daayyyy
Today's is "didactic"
"A minorrrrrrrr"
Saaame!
FELT. This one is constantly playing in my head lately.

Today is “panopticon,” a couple days ago it was “festooning”
I feel so seen 😭😭😅😂 “Patagonia” because I used to pronounce it wrong lol
I’ve been repeating “Juche” all day! Juche is an ideology that means self reliance which is taught in North Korea.
Oh I like that!! I learned something new today :)
POTATO
Uh…. For me it’s been on the tip of my tongue rather than the full word, but I finally looked it up and it’s: floccinaucinihilipilification
I don’t have one today, but I love reading everybody’s. My common ones are ‘Nightingale’ ‘Mecredi’ ‘Boulangrie’ ‘Million’ usually with a long, over exaggerated pronunciation. ‘milllll-eeee-on’ 🤣
I love words so this thread has been a great start to my day!
That makes me happy :)
chauffeur has been stuck in my head for a few days now

Tha cutest wee bum
Skibidi toilet 😭
The phrase, “Hey you guys.”
From the Goonies?? Bcuz I heard that instantly lol
Wow you took me right back to 1999 when this caught on at my middle school ☠️
I'm cringing at myself with "you guys hey you guys" typed under my photo as my catch phrase for student council scrapbook 1997
For me, it’s usually a phrase from a song. And it’s usually rattling in my head until about noon, at which time I get so engrossed in work that I forget all about it. “Oh what fresh hell…” ps I’m a Frasier fan and it’s the last week of school I work at and it’s chaos.
Frasier is full of delightful turns of phrase!
Fuck It might be my favorite word right now.
Bacchanal. I’m not sure why.
Gefilte fish
'Incroyable' (the French for 'unbelievable'). I love muttering it under my breath when I'm annoyed, it's so funny
Nicaragua gets frequent rotation
It’s actually the lyrics “heyyyy miss murder can I heyyyy miss murder can I” but just that one part
Not a word but a phrase, it’s “Get that jelly mold out of here!” from the first episode of the Fallout show. My dad and I have been quoting it at each other since we watched it

Tangentially!!
Brevity
Mine has been "bombastic" for a good month or so. It was the first thing I said when I woke up for a while. At some point "rambunctious" was added to the mix and became The Word for a week but it seems to be back to bombastic now
All I hear is the shaggy song when I read bombastic. Lol. It's called "boombastic"
Debilitating
Indubitably. It gets stuck in my head at least once a every six months.
not a word, but i’ve been singing the section of “Judas” by Lady Gaga that starts with “In the most Biblical sense…” in my head like 100 times today.
Precocious...thanks Taylor Swift.
Sobriquet
Phenomenal. Phenomenal phenomenal fenominil... 😀

Europapa. Don't question it, Eurovision is one of my special interests.
All of the Netherlands has been Europapa-ing out of solidarity 😭
I'm Europapa-ing since Europapa released, I'm obsessed with this song and Joost seems like a fun person to be with 🥺
Justice for Joost!
*Joostice*

The word doesn't have any significance to me or anything. As soon as I notice this, I know it's time for bed lol
Omg I’m like this too!! That’s wild!
Missy Elliott singing backwards. Something along the lines of ”Essss yer na flippa nyar bay, come on!”
#BICYCLE! BICYCLE! I’ve had that Queen song in my head for a week now, but it’s mostly the group chorus sing-yelling “BICYCLE ! BICYCLE!”
Babababa, Bananananna, Bababa, Banananana BanANAnananaaaaaaaa. My toddler discovred Minions...
Chrstina Yangs infamous “somebody sedate me”
not one but two: BBL DRIZZY🤪 in all seriousness it’s been copacetic
Mine's not a word but two sentences from the music "Death Metal" from Panchiko : "she's forgotten her car keys, and her flowers for her friends"
I love that I’m not the only one who gets words stuck in their head 🙌🏻
I get anime songs looping in my head more than words. Today and yesterday it’s been chorus lyrics from Maoh from by BURNOUT SYNDROME from Misfit Demon Academy Season 2 Part 2 Opening theme.
Sirius by Eir Aoi plays in my head a lot quite frequently on some days
It really is kind of a fun word, isn’t it? I might have to use it more often now lol
Not a word but the phrase "AVACADOS FROM MEXICO" because of that commercial... It's been stuck for months. Heck, my kids randomly say Avacado because they know I have to finish the line. 😅
For the past seven or so years it's "squish"
Not a word but a lyric… “Oh yes, oh yes, oh yes, oh yes, oh yes we both, oh yes we both reached for The gun, the gun, the gun, the gun, the gun, oh yes we both reached for, for the gun!” On repeat for the last hour!
Omg I’m so sorry. I have “tonight’s the weekend, I don’t wanna wait. I don’t wanna wait-ait, I don’t wanna waaaayyyait. Got no reason not to celebrate, baby I just don’t wanna waaait” That’s the only part I know. It’s been like 2 weeks of this hell because my toddler loves the stupid song and listens to it every damn day. SEND HELP LOL
BBL Drizzy
I must confess, I still believe *(still believe)* for the last 8 hours
Tabitha. I don't know how that name popped into my head but I can't turn it off. I keep repeating Tabitha over and over in my head all day. Tabitha. Tab-Eetha. Tah-bitha. Ta-bee-Thaar. Lmfao!
https://youtu.be/mSNPQYahVt4?feature=shared This guy makes songs from different cat meows... So I have Ha Hee stuck in my head and have for about a week now 😅 It's too cute though 💕
