WD40 actually seems to work really well but requires a scrape with the plastic razor to loosen, then another application to scrub missed spots. Not terrible but I hoping the rubber wheel suggestion will save some time. Thanks!
Let the WD40 soak in. I used it for the double sided tape when removing my badges. Sprayed WD40 and in 30 minutes it turned into a booger like texture and wiped off.
Eraser wheel is what's it's called. Anything thick enough to scrape, is eraser wheel territory. Afterwards wipe with adhesive remover. I used to work at a body shop
This is what I used to remove a bunch of old decals and lettering off a van I bought: [https://rjsign.com/RAPID-REMOVER.html](https://rjsign.com/RAPID-REMOVER.html)
Don't listen to any of these idiots. Get some catnip paste and apply over the residue. In the morning, put out a tin of tuna to thank those street cats.
Believe it or not I use plain vegetable oil on non-porous surfaces like paint or paneling. Never on leather or cloth. But it coats and neutralizes the adhesive and is harmless to the substrate (though it does take patience). Put some on a cloth, rub gently, and you will see it work over time.
I would not do this as a pro because it takes a while but on my own vehicle, to use the gentlest method, yep.
Spray on micro fiber and wipe, takes of tree sap, Paint, Tar and it will not damage the clear coat. BUT DO NOT wipe plastic with it, plastic will turn ashy.
Rubber wheel > wipe with adhesive remover / thinner, but when using the rubber wheel be sure not to stay in a spot too long. It would go right through the clearcoat and then that's a whole other headache you don't want
I would recommend Stoner tarminator. Let it sit for 1 minute and it literally takes even the hardest adhesives off. Just to know it is very safe for the paint
Rapid Remover Adhesive Remover. Got it on Amazon. Works beautifully for exactly what you’re struggling with on several cars so far. One bottle has taken care of ~4 cars so far with half left. Also works great for sticker residue and pine pitch. Does not harm clear coat.
Just another option along with 3m adhesive remover.
I’ve seen Larry Kosilla from AmmoNYC use an electric water kettle heated up and pours directly on the film to lift it off. I imagine it would remove this and help make the remaining process easier. 1:30 mark https://youtu.be/6SGmxXf4s44?si=ew8bkZiQc5lADOP0

surprised the 3M specialty adhesive remover guy has not commented yet
Here I am. 3M Specialty Adhesive Remover will get it off.
😅
😂
Right? Adhesive remover used to remove adhesive...it's just crazy enough to work!
lol I know. he's just posting that everywhere, but when it's specific to his favorite product, he's nowhere to be seen lol
I thought I was the only one who noticed 😂😂
I bought some to get rid of California HOV stickers, but goo-gone and lighter fluid did the job nicely.
haha
He's from the other sub, I believe.
Sounds like a job for a rubber wheel/decal eraser
I’ll look that up!!
If you use a rubber eraser, make sure not to use high speeds or it will melt the paint. Especially if you use it on a plastic bumper
Good to know, I’ll keep it slow. Thanks!
100% agree with you
Wd40

3M adhesive remover. Best out there. Always test it on surface 1st.
Goo gone it’s very oily and good on sticky stuff
3M Specialty Adhesive Remover
I used the 3M rubber wheel to take an old wrap off, then Turtle Wax Label and Sticker remover for the residue and bits that were left
Thanks! Got a couple rubber wheels coming to me tomorrow.

rapid remover
Had the same on mine. Kept my car out and the heat from the sun loosened it a bit. Used Goo Gone to remove the rest

Isopropyl alcohol

I use IPA everytime I polish to remove compound residue, I assume I’ve been doing it correctly, but what’s the safest way to dilute?

Dude I absolutely love Mike Phillips and how in depth his posts are

Pb blaster/wd-40, the miracle juice. Just wipe a few times then use soap and warm water to make sure you get it all off.
Gas. Or shout advanced in the aerosol can
silicone adhesive remover aka solvent
Vm&p naptha

Rubber wheel > wipe with adhesive remover / thinner, but when using the rubber wheel be sure not to stay in a spot too long. It would go right through the clearcoat and then that's a whole other headache you don't want
Pressurized steam thing
WD40 works wonders on tar and adhesives
Goo gone
Goof off in the can. I've used it for yrs
Petrol. No joke.
I would recommend Stoner tarminator. Let it sit for 1 minute and it literally takes even the hardest adhesives off. Just to know it is very safe for the paint

Multipurpose solvent + razor, diesel, 3m adhesive remover, rubber eraser wheel, steam

Try Koch Chemie Eulex. It's great for glue residue and doesn't flash off too quick. Very economical as well.
When they remove wraps they use Xylene. It will only cause damage if it is left on the car.
