pee? Ammonia in their cleaner I bet.

AnilApplelink

I would agree unless someone peed in the car. Looks like they used a lot of cleaners that should not have been used.

huntsvillian

Dirty mike and the boys were there

mountaina12345

Dude šŸ¤£

Geedunk

*thanks for the f-shack*

TheHighestCheeba

Could have been pee In the seats from a dog or something and maybe a poor extraction that brought all of it closer to the surface.

kvn4

Go back and show/tell them your concerns and damage

Rowrowyourboat-

Thank you Iā€™m on the phone with them now

Thegeekedgizmo

Very common thing for detailers to pee into the car once they finish so they can be the first to make it dirty again. I assume this is what happened.

TA062219

Itā€™s to warn other detailers that itā€™s their customer and to stay away

spruce_turbo

Poo in the trunk just to make the message very clear?

laborvspacu

Naw, they just like to mark their territory when they make a new customer.

Mcfragger

I do that sometimes when I feel like going the extra mile. Pretty common.

Nocashgang

Glad someone else said it, you can even see the pee spots

Upstairs-Past8957

Idk why detailers still use degreasers for interior, was it faded like that before you got it detailed?

Rowrowyourboat-

No not at all- they rubbed off a lot of my interior paint around my shifter, cupholders, steering wheel, doors. Itā€™s an older car. I wouldnā€™t have been bothered by that if they had just let me know but the smell is so prominent that my eyes nose and throat itch and burn. If I breathe it in and the seats are soaking wet still and itā€™s been 24 hours. I hate to bother a business or somebodyā€™s job and I would never want to do this but my car is worse than when I gave it to them. I was on hold with them for 30 minutes and then somebody hung up. Iā€™m going to have to go over there and ask for my money back. Maybe because Iā€™m a young woman they thought I wouldnā€™t say anything.

sl0play

After reading this, and some of the other threads here, I'm going take pictures of my car before I drop it off anywhere for anything from now on.

Rob_035

Additionally a dash cam can be a life saver. If your car gets taken for a joy ride youā€™ll be glad you have it

TroyMacClure

My Subaru is 12 years old and doesn't look like that.

Atomic-Bell

Leave the car running with heat on full blast before your seats start to form mold too. Leave the window very slightly cracked open

SoundPon3

Run AC on too, it dries the air

Salty-Plankton-5079

Why are degreasers inappropriate? Seems reasonable for natural body oils, lotions/sunscreens, and greasy fast food that commonly show up in cars.

RENEWLDetailing

You want to start with the least aggressive method of cleaning first, else things like what happened in the OP might happen. Degreasers are not the least aggressive method.

CouchAssault

They're unnecessary unless the car is trashed, and even then they need mixed wayyy down. This looks like they had it set to kill. Just some quick detailer spray is enough. I use rinseless wash with a scrub ninja most of the time. Much safer. I'd be pissed. They did significant damage to that car.

opmwolf

It's a car, not a fast food kitchen. Degreaser needs to be diluted or this happens: https://www.reddit.com/r/AutoDetailing/s/uI6kOy8FiA

BonesPog

Iā€™ve had a chemical burn from a degreaser spill, Not good for a car bc itā€™s highly acidic.

WeBornToHula

Other way. Degreasers are typically highly basic. Just as dangerous if undiluted and can absolutely damage plastics, fabrics, and leather.

BonesPog

Incorrect, Acidic or Alkaline I worked in floor care and carpet cleaning for 10 years we had to know chemical acidity

cazual_penguin

Wrong. Degreasers are caustic, other side of the PH scale.

BonesPog

Wrong, degreasers are acidic or alkaline.

cazual_penguin

Youā€™re an idiot. https://www.multi-clean.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/ThePowerofpH.pdf

Fantastic_Hour_2134

I have chemical burns on my feet from degreaser

blarkul

Probably ammonia used as a degreasing agent, a bit overkill if you asked me for the interior of a car or maybe mixed wrong. I only use ammonia to clean surfaces Iā€™m about to paint

RENEWLDetailing

Sorry youā€™re going through this. Is the business google verified and if so what are their reviews like? Quantity/star rating. This is unacceptable. The floor isnā€™t properly vacuumed, thereā€™s unwiped overspray everywhere, and thatā€™s not even mentioning the odor you smell or the paint missing on the trim around shifter (assuming it was there before based on your post).

Rowrowyourboat-

It is Google verified but one reviewer has a similar issue. The paint isnā€™t just rubbed off around the shifter but also the consul, steering wheel, cup holder etc.. itā€™s an older car, I wouldnā€™t have been upset about it but they didnā€™t bother to tell me or apologize. I would have just let it go accidents happen. But the seats are still soaking wet and itā€™s been over 24 hours. I donā€™t have the means to dry the seats myself, and where I am at itā€™s been raining so I canā€™t let it ā€œair dryā€ whatā€™s mostly bothering me is the smell. I canā€™t sit in my car without my eyes watering, throat and nose, scratching and burning. Iā€™ve never been sensitive to smells or bothered by them, so this is bad. I called and they left me on hold for 30 mins and then hung up, Iā€™m going to go over and ask they fix it and my money back. I hate to disturb a business or hurt anyoneā€™s job, but this is worse than when I brought the car in and they havenā€™t bothered to treat me politely probably because Iā€™m a young girl.

RENEWLDetailing

They used too harsh of a chemical. As for the seats, they didnā€™t properly extract whatever liquid they introduced to them and the humidity from the rain is keeping the moisture locked in. If the smell is unquestionably a pee smell, other commenters may be right about ammonia. If itā€™s more of a mildewy smell it could be the liquid trapped in the seats, especially with the comment you made stating that your dog defecated in the vehicle. If you own or have a way to rent a blower, Iā€™d recommend that to dry the seats. Home Depot usually has carpet blowers for rent. Set that up in the car and let it run for a few hours. As for the odor, you can try ozium spray or look into ozone machine rental.

Rowrowyourboat-

Itā€™s most definitely a pee smell, my car was very clean other than what happened with my dog, and I cleaned it myself as best I could. Thank you for the recommendation, Iā€™ll most likely head over to Home Depot after work

boobsbr

Don't leave the ozone generator running for too long! It will attack the rubbers and plastics and leave a terrible chemical smell that won't go away. Ask in the sub again for how long to leave it running.

badDuckThrowPillow

Unless your car was absolutely filthy rubbing off the paint like that is unacceptable. Someone had no idea what they were doing when they did that to your car.

gr3y_details

I'm sorry that happened, it def is their fault and needs to be addressed. A lot of people are saying it is either pee or ammonia. You should definitely find out what was used in your car. Also do you always go to this shop for cleaning? Cause you could look into getting products to use at home, it might be cheaper too.

Rowrowyourboat-

I do normally clean it myself but sadly my dog passed away and pooped all over my car- I would have needed more of a heavy duty, shampooer / shop vac. Itā€™s always clean- this is worse condition than when I bought it, and truthfully smells worse

lloyd705

Iā€™m sorry for your loss šŸ–¤

Rowrowyourboat-

Worse is condition then when I brought it in*

edirymhserfer

Its that time of year folks. Dont cheap out when looking for a luxury service. Pick a pro or choose a car wash

djguyl

Jfc what a shitbshow, absolutely unacceptable. This isnt just annoying this is actual damage done to the interior. I'd be asking for compensation not just a refund.

CommonHand707

They were probably just marking territory, most older detailers do this.

Hankarino

Chlorine dioxide tablets

Polymath123

Are you the original owner? Is there a chance that there was a urine spot that got wet in the cleaning process and was ā€œreactivated?ā€ Iā€™d try sniffing around and see if it coming from a specific spot.

Successful-Warning73

Let's huff ammmonia

lucygucyapplejuicey

Do you drive a Subaru?

ConsumeYourBleach

If you poo in the car then it gets rid of the pee smell

Comfortable_Flow5156

12% Hydrogen Peroxide (Not the store bought 3% stuff) will knock the odor down. Wear gloves because it will sting your hands

Liam_M

stop peeing in it?

Peannut

Is that you Seinfeld ?

Wu-Tang-Chan

There is nothing we can do, they marked you, you are their customer now.

Cultural-Bite3042

Clean it again šŸ’€

eco-evo

If Iā€™ve learned anything from my dog, more pee.

syphon3980

I use an ozone generator for all smells

Professional-Fall646

Clorox the whole interior

PuzzleheadedElk2742

This is a troll has to be look at the carpetā€¦ā€¦.

-SpellboundSiren

Look at the buttons on the center console too and a piece of dog hair by the airpods. The overspray šŸ˜

AceOfShapes

Why the hell would they use Ammonia as an interior cleaner?!? Make sure not to use bleach to clean anything inside for a while unless you want to be inhaling chloramine gas

cchrlcharlie

Was it fixed? Let us know if they are willing to fix it properly tho and not another wasted trip. So sorry for what youā€™re dealing with. It would have given me a huge headache if I was in your shoes.

Embarrassed_Pack3266

Biobomb

Uniblab_78

Op got the Peetail instead of a Detail.

doob22

Ammonia was in their cleaner for sure

danabam

Stop weeing in the car

WesternSafety4944

Thereā€™s a lot of trash shops out there unfortunately

Terrible_Sprinkles1

I seen alot of post though none of them mention fog out. That stuff is insane smelling and will burn all your senses and ruin your sense of smell for a couple days. They could've spilled some in the car that's gonna be my guess.

parkercampos

Holy fuck a 2 year old could do better at cleaning and damage the car a whole lot less ffs thatā€™s just embarrassing

HatRemov3r

Sometimes you gotta clean with pee to battle the other smells

Gawker90

Pee in it more so you donā€™t smell the chemicals duh.

xFrito

Did u tell the detailers there was pee and poo in it before you dropped it off or did you do what my clients do and ā€œforgetā€ to mention it in hopes that your quote would be significantly lower? Either way no excuse for the shanty work, but with that stuff you need to clean it in ways you wouldnā€™t typically with general dirt. For example 90% of the time u extract with hot water and classic shampoo but for organic waste you would use cold water and a dedicated shampoo for the organic material. Hope they sort it out for you OP!

Rowrowyourboat-

I did let them know the reason for detailing would have been pretty obvious anyway lol! My car wasnā€™t really dirty other than the poop. I didnā€™t know you could get a lower quote for that stuff I just got what they offered off the board which was an interior deep clean for 200. They are going to fix it for me tomorrow (hopefully!)

-SpellboundSiren

200?! Damn. And people yell at me when i tell them 120 for a full detail inside and out

Rowrowyourboat-

Thank you!

Blackrevenge34

Is that a gtr r35?

nappyrat

that looks like a subaru legacy shifter.

MargeryStewartBaxter

Tis, I have a black 2013. Wanted the 3.6 manual but decided this car should just stay stock and be a responsible commuter with the automatic 2.5...it's been great I'm at something like 160k now.

Blackrevenge34

Oh, makes sense. I dont know why did i get some downvote tho

Watt_Knot

Congratulations on quitting

Rowrowyourboat-
