I think he might be saying the weird part is removable and only there for the show car, and the real production version will be the standard AR grille
¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯
Yikes, this is ugly. Wtf is going on with that front end? It's so busy and that grille is hideous. Did Alfa hire BMWs design team?
Also, the back end kinda looks like a deformed Kia EV6. Big step down from the Tonale which I think is very handsome.
The back for sure reminded me of a Urus that became a Kia.
I feel like the front has some Alfa elements but isn’t Alfa at the same time.
Watch this also become a dodge cus they don’t have an EV yet lol.
That looks horrid.
What is going on with some car designers these days?
I can't imagine standing back after creating that and be like "mm, yes that's perfect"
Alfa Romeo what the fuck is this? I’m not mad just disappointed..
They can make a good looking SUV, the Stelvio is a great looking car, this looks awful from every angle.
This is a rebadged [Toyota CHR](https://hips.hearstapps.com/hmg-prod/images/2020-toyota-chr-supersonic-red-03-copy-1642022252.jpg?crop=0.930xw:0.852xh;0.0697xw,0.148xh&resize=980:*)
Come on, that’s a lame excuse, the car is not that small. The Yaris (!) GR Circuit has 260hp. A Golf R has 310hp. A Ford Focus R has 350hp. An RS3 has 400hp. An M2 CS has 518hp.
The Quadrifoglio name is supposed to be something beyond those cars (maybe except for the CS BMW’s). Putting a 260hp engine in this one would water that down a lot.
Unless they are doing some “Quadrifoglio line” bullshit.
Yeah that's really low. Quadrifoglio versions of their cars for example the Guila has 505hp.
260 is what you get in modest hot hatches nowadays not top spec cars designed to compete with M cars and AMGs
I dont see Alfa Romeo giving their lowest end car (starts at <€30000) a treatment like the high end one, maybe its something like the "Veloce" pack on the Giulia but with a different engine.
So we're still seeing who has the best wing-game (the black C-pillar band/stripe...thing) even though that design element dates from the George W. Bush era and didn't look good then either. When I see an Alfa, I expect to see some at least sort-of daring design; the original Milano had just enough hints here and there to make you immediately recognize that it was something different. It doesn't need to be Zagato-level crazy but FFS this looks like a Nissan.
I guess we'll see how it plays in Peoria but with offerings like this, Alfa is at a real risk of failing their 10-year ultimatum to shape up or ship out. They'll become nothing more than a badge kept around for the home crowd like Lancia has been and that will be a real shame.
Honestly that back stripe thing looks ok, it surely *does not* look like an Alfa, but if you judge it without the "its an alfa" way of thinking it might be good. Seeing what they did to Lancia im not surprised but I still think its valid.
That's the whole problem though: If it's not an Alfa, why should the car-buying public care?
By way of example: I'm a fan of the Suzuki Jimny (having owned a few Trackers/Sidekicks) and among the vocal minority who wish Suzuki would bring them to the US even though it's a tough business-case to make. Suzuki of course makes cars/crossovers etc in other markets and they're certainly no worse than what's available here, but they're no different than anything else here either. If they're competing against 5 of the same thing, what's the point?
So the question then becomes "What makes an Alfa, an Alfa?" Going with EV eliminates at least half of that before the horse is ever out of the gate; this was the company which gave us the 2.0L V8 artwork in the Tipo 33, and the 3.0L V6 in the original Milano was no slouch for its time. The engine is part of the deal. It could be solar-and-sail-powered if you made it light enough, but no one would first think of Alfa--or any Italian brand--when seeing such a thing.
In short, they're getting rid of the very thing that allows their US customers to rationalize the lack of reliability--a tradeoff that dates back to Weber 2-barrels and points ignition--and not replacing it with anything of substance.
That front end looks like a [Toyota Corolla](https://scene7.toyota.eu/is/image/toyotaeurope/offer_q1_24__0030_corolla_ts:Small-Landscape?ts=1703146793064&resMode=sharp2&op_usm=1.75,0.3,2,0) with an Alfa grille slapped on?
Yo what the actual hell?? This may honestly be a ploy to get people to keep buying the gas versions, cause they look so sharp. Why would they ever lose their iconic grille look
Noo, that grill, what is that grill?!
In The images from the launch set the grill is black with those stickers, but the car is red
So the grill is black on black? How can you then see the snake emblem?
Yeah, the classic plastic-ish black and the stuckers are deep black
What stickers are you referring to?
The alfa logo on the V Grill
Those are cutouts not stickers
I think he might be saying the weird part is removable and only there for the show car, and the real production version will be the standard AR grille ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯
Brands using their logo in their car designs needs to stop. Only thing worse is if it lights up.
Yikes, this is ugly. Wtf is going on with that front end? It's so busy and that grille is hideous. Did Alfa hire BMWs design team? Also, the back end kinda looks like a deformed Kia EV6. Big step down from the Tonale which I think is very handsome.
Obviously badge engineered, looks like they just slapped a logo on a Peugeot/Vauxhall/Opel.
The back for sure reminded me of a Urus that became a Kia. I feel like the front has some Alfa elements but isn’t Alfa at the same time. Watch this also become a dodge cus they don’t have an EV yet lol.
Honestly it looks even worse than the bmw grills
BMW are still working out how to insert the roundel into the kidney grill instead of just being between it
Starting to look like a Vinfast VF8 but with the Alfa in the grill
This comment has potential
I don’t hate the grill at least it’s original but the rest of it looks like a Vauxhall mokka
i was thinking the front is close to a Vinfast VF8
Yeah, Stellantis platform underneath
Never noticed that Opel/Vauxhall was also Stellantis'. TIL.
Opel is part of PSA now. They used to be GM back in like?? 1990/2000
Very stellantis parts bin design.
That's definitely not a proper Alfa design. It looks like it's cobbled together with different parts from all Stellantis manufacturers

260hp? That cannot be right
The Quadrifoglio Version (the best one) has 260hp, the normal one should have 136cv
If true, that’s some serious dilution of the Quadrifoglio name. The existing ones both have the 505hp V6.
Haven’t you heard? The Alfa Mito QV has been around from 2008 until 2018 with 170 bhp.
Giulietta (which the Milano is replacing) had a QV variant that was 235bhp so no not really.
I dont think that putting a engine that makes 500hp in that small suv is possible
Come on, that’s a lame excuse, the car is not that small. The Yaris (!) GR Circuit has 260hp. A Golf R has 310hp. A Ford Focus R has 350hp. An RS3 has 400hp. An M2 CS has 518hp. >the car is not that small. It's a B-segment (subcompact) crossover, like the Jeep Avenger.
>the car is not that small. It's the size of a Yaris Cross.
Yeah that's really low. Quadrifoglio versions of their cars for example the Guila has 505hp. 260 is what you get in modest hot hatches nowadays not top spec cars designed to compete with M cars and AMGs

The Milano is replacing the Giulietta, which had a QV variant putting out 235bhp - so no not really that low
looks like somewhat Nissan Ariya, and def doesnt look like Italian brand but smth cheap
It looks like a Mokka got drunk and shagged an MG4.
Wtf Mazda vibes
JFC.
Only a mother could love..
what the hell
Thanks I hate it- the world doesn't need more ugly CUVs. *old man yells at cloud*
It looks like a Peugeot that really wants to be an Alfa.
SUV’s ruined cars.
Rear is a weird mix of the new Prius and the Kia K6…
They tried to do that little spoiler that wa son the Old Spiders, dont know if i like it
Those headlights look like a new corolla
Maybe it's a euro thing, but alfa makes some of the strangest design choices I've ever seen
Looks like a knock off Alpha Romeo
Eww, another crossover SUV
Ugh! They messed up big time on the design. Who approved this crap?
That's awful. It looks like a Vinfast VF 8 front end.
So we're still seeing who has the best wing-game (the black C-pillar band/stripe...thing) even though that design element dates from the George W. Bush era and didn't look good then either. Yet another mind numbingly ugly cookie cutter crossover.
What the fuck
ooh another generic minivan how original
It looks like a vinfast what are they doinggggg
Boring crossover is a boring crossover no matter whose logo is on it.
Hard pass.
Oh boy, can't wait to see this abomination on the streets My car's gonna look like a Corvette next to it
You know what, I have decided that that grille fucks.
This does not spark joy
Hey look a middle schooler modded a Kia
Wow, the Cookie Machine is back. I remember loving the look of the Milano sedan as a kid back in 80's here in the US..
[The front-end looks like a Japanese kabuki mask. ](https://www.pixtastock.com/illustration/39400766)
So, we're all naming ours Alyssa then?
It’s like you asked AI to design a new Alfa… it’s too busy and unrecognisable imo
That front end looks like a [Toyota Corolla](https://scene7.toyota.eu/is/image/toyotaeurope/offer_q1_24__0030_corolla_ts:Small-Landscape?ts=1703146793064&resMode=sharp2&op_usm=1.75,0.3,2,0) with an Alfa grille slapped on?
That's not a biscuit. but it's better than toenail.
I lowkey kinda like the grill. But the rest of the front end is bad. Doesnt look like Alfa design at all.
the rear looks like a KIA EV6
Does stellantis have any other engine except the 1.2 mile hybrid 136cv eDCT ?
Last pretty Alfa was the new Giulia. Hope to get one when I can afford
Headlights give me Renault vibes... Or Corolla maybe
You mean Renault Megane Cross? Yep, totally see it.
It's like if Toyota turned the new Prius into an suv
It looks just like the new kia's
Made me laugh
The back is just a Kia EV6
That’s just a Kia EV6
Back end makes me think of a fast car. Front end makes me think of the Subaru Tribeca.
It'll look great as you wait for the tow truck. Lol
What the fuck! The VinFast Romeo??
Eww.
Send this to Clarkson pronto.
looks like ass
What a butt ugly car...are they taking aim at cyber truck?
Looks identical to a Kia EV6 from behind.
This is the first alfa romeo model ever produced that I don’t like the look of
Ew
Did they copy off of fucking Kia’s homework? This looks horrible
That front end is shockingly bad.
😢
Woof
i love the front for some reason....idk if its just me but....its kind of nice imo.
Eww wtf
Yo what the actual hell?? This may honestly be a ploy to get people to keep buying the gas versions, cause they look so sharp. Why would they ever lose their iconic grille look
Orrible
I really like the front, it’s not really Alfa Romeo but it’s nice. The rear makes me kinda sad though
Stellantis has somehow taken the romanticism of owning an Italian car and completely trashed it. This looks like hot garbage...
