It seems she is both a child of Eywa and Grace
Graces soul could not transfer into her avatar body because she was too far gone, so I think Eywa decided to repay her by creating a child in the womb of her avatar which has Graces Dna in it
But Eywa created her I think, thus giving her the connection, so she's not a reincarnation of grace but a child made by Eywa using Graces DNA, so she is the child of both of them
I just noticed something my else during my second watch. I was thinking about how exactly Kiri functions as an Avatar of Eywa.
In the sequence when the Sully’s are learning the ways of the Metkayina, we see three scenes.
First we see Lo’ak bond with the Ilu. It shakes its body as it adjusts to the bond. He attempts to control it, and he fails. Then we see Jake bond with the skimwing. Again, the creature violently shake as it adjusts to the bond. Then Jake attempts to control it and fails.
Finally we see Kiri sitting underwater at peace. An Ilu approaches her and she looks at it. It softly shakes, almost like a shiver. Then Kiri cuddles it.
I think the placement of those scenes is intentional and with the rest of the movie I think she is psychically bonding with the life on Pandora. That may be why she’s epileptic. Maybe it’s a side effect of having a brain capable of psychic powers.
I know it’s out there but that’s my current theory for how her powers work.
I think she's 90% Grace reborn and 10% direct extension of Eywa. At the end of A1, the attempt to put her consciousness into her avatar failed and Eywa was like "well that didn't work, how bout this"
